  1. So will Marshall now be taking his place in the rotation?
  2. This is his wife: http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/myfox/pages/InsideFox/Detail?contentId=949270&version=11&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=5.3.1
  3. I loathe no person on this planet more than Joe Morgan. Here's the rest of the Cubs quote... Kevin (Memphis): Hey Joe. Thanks for taking my question. Can the Cardinals sustain their success, or will Pujols alone not be enough to carry them to the playoffs? Joe Morgan: When you have an Albert Pujols, he will make everyone around him better. If you get off to a good start when you were supposed to be a bad team, it builds a lot of confidence. The Cubs look like the best team in that division, but they are not the best team. They can win the division, I think, but the Cubs have to be favored.
  4. Soto is the best offensive catcher in baseball, and has been all season. Where's he on the list?
  5. Priorpower, on a side not, I've got pit tickets for Radiohead tonight \:D/
  6. the deal is being written entirely from the Yankees POV. it's best just to ignore it + 1 million - Ted Lilly is mediocre at best? - Matsui should be a DH, so he needs to go to a NL team?
  7. How exactly does the experiment seem to not be working? .179 BAA, 0.81 WHIP, 14:3 K/BB Give it time...it's only been a month. I'd also encourage you to look around the league and examine where some other veteran closers are this early in the season. Removing Wood, Marmol and Marshall from the bullpen to replace Dempster, Marquis and Lieber doesn't solve any problems we have. Wood and Marmol make our bullpen stronger, which we REALLY need. Removing them and substituting the aforementioned players does way more damage than good. There's only one MAJOR problem we need to solve at the moment -the abysmal production we're getting from the leadoff spot.
  8. He was getting praised for a lucky, low-run start to his season. Getting criticized for an unlucky, high-run start today seems about fair. Exactly. On a more upbeat note, Soto rocks!!!!
  9. None of that was Dempster's fault except the walk. True - Fontenot botched the DP that should have negated the scenario in the first place. But he didn't walk in a run with one of the league's most impatient hitters at the plate. Come on. It should have been 3 up 3 down. The 2 hits were soft infield ground balls. Come on, I'm tired of Cubs pitcher's not throwing strikes.
  10. None of that was Dempster's fault except the walk. True - Fontenot botched the DP that should have negated the scenario in the first place. But he didn't walk in a run with one of the league's most impatient hitters at the plate.
  11. I've had enough of watching this crapa$$ rotation load the bases in the first inning. What a joke.
  12. What an ignorant thread.
  13. Small sample size; however, Duncan does work magic on pitchers. Unfortunately he'd have to work 25 hours a day to turn that trash heap rotation into something reliable for an entire season.
  14. '05: 41 games, 80 AB's, .300/.356 '06: 151 games, 534 AB's, .245/.271 '07: 38 games, 74 AB's, .203/.231 I'll be more than willing to bump this thread back to the top for all you Cedeno fans when he doesn't reach base again for the next few games... I saw the rbi's today, it was fantastic hit; however he's shown no sign that those will come very often. The more MLB experience he accumulates, the more his weaknesses are exposed. For the record I don't think Theriot is a much better option...
  15. .359/.422/.537 in triple A last year ignorance ](*,) Those are great #'s for the Iowa Cubs. However, I'm more interested in what he's continued to prove at the major league level - he sucks - year after year after year.
  16. At this point, I think this is simply trolling. You're trying to rile up the sizable pro-Cedeno crowd here. Pardon? What is your problem? I didn't even bother to read the previous posts in this thread, nor is there a reason to. I merely logged on here to express my utter disbelief that Cedeno continues to get chances to suck on this roster. I've been a member here for a few years, and have numerous posts. Your "trolling" comment is offensive and belittling; I'd suggest you rethink your comment. Isn't this a game thread - a place where forum members can post their comments on the game?
  17. Cedeno has no business still playing on a MLB roster.
  18. Exactly. If the Cubs miraculously made the playoffs in back to back years, then I suppose anything is possible, including a visit to the World Series. I see another stacked team that gets hit with a plethora of freak injuries.
  19. 2004 CF - Corey Patterson 2B - Mark Grudzielanek RF - Sammy Sosa LF - Moises Alou 1B - Derek Lee 3B - Aramis Ramirez SS - Alex Gonzalez C - Michael Barrett ???? Plus Nomar, kind of. That lineup was pretty stacked. Oh yeah...I forgot about Nomar. ](*,) ](*,) With the addition of Nomar, that was definitely a stacked lineup. Thinking about the potential of that rotation is even more disgusting.
  20. 2004 CF - Corey Patterson 2B - Mark Grudzielanek RF - Sammy Sosa LF - Moises Alou 1B - Derek Lee 3B - Aramis Ramirez SS - Alex Gonzalez C - Michael Barrett ????
  21. Roberts Fukudome Lee Aram Soriano Dero Soto Pie Pitcher If the scenario played out, when would be the last time we had a starting lineup that good?
  22. Would you rather use their '03 stats?  I agree with your comment, which further solidifies why Dempster belongs nowhere near the rotation.
  23. Lieber has pitched great this spring and the best of those three; he should be in that rotation. Demp should be in the bullpen anyways, he's an awful starter.
  24. Parra is an excellent young pitcher with a history of injury problems. Gallardo is currently injured, and Ben Sheets...well, is Ben Sheets. However, if all three are healthy, that's a really nasty combo. I think Parra finally got lit up today or yesterday....4 or 5 runs in the 1st maybe?
  25. There's way too much love and overvaluing of our prospects on this board.... I don't think we need to be including all three of our top pitching prospects, either. Fortunately, none of those prospects impress me that much anyways.
