  1. They were never able to put it together for a whole album...but I think there's at least a handful of songs that they nailed :)
  2. Andy Pettitte? Brandon Backe! Wandy
  3. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/sortable/index.php?cid=309630
  4. His writing in the P-D panders to the St. Louis sheep. He actually speaks pretty intelligently and calls out Cardinal and fan stupidity on his radio show on a regular basis. He also, surprisingly, is a huge stats/saber guy (well, he uses stats all the time and he weighs 300+ lbs). And he hates TLR's guts because of the way he treats people. The writing is much different than his real point of view, but I think he gets reigned in a little by the paper and isn't really allowed to do what he wants. Pretty terrible of him to let that happen, but whatever. Bernie is obnoxious, and I think he's by far the least intelligent sportswriter in STL. I agree that his usage of sabre/stats is refreshing, as is his willingness to call out the Cards and their fanbase. However, more often than not he's just a hothead using faulty logic to arrive at an irrelevant/ignorant conclusion. He and TLR do have a "history" together - and if I was TLR I would've punched him in a couple of those spats. Do you recall their most recent, and possibly biggest blow-up? TLR was defending the Cubs after Bernie's article "Why the Cubs will never break the curse"...
  5. He went back out in the 8th cause he didn't have a single high-stress inning and was sailing along with little effort.
  6. I'm very thankful he's a Cub :D His sense of humor and dedication to this team is equally as impressive as his talent...
  7. So I guess you were concerned all of 2007 when he walked 101 batters, 2006 when he walked 115 batters, etc..
  8. Welcome to the forum - I really enjoyed the Harden article. Transmogrified Tiger, thanks for the link!
  9. All of our pitcher's looked very nasty last night - Dempster K'd the side.
  10. Wilson is coming in to stop them in the 8th? That's ridiculous. He's given up 1 run/outing in 4 of his last 5 outings...and he blows.
  11. I don't see the Braves letting go of Gonzalez - if he's gone, they've got NOBODY to close games for them. He came right off a year + DL stint from TJ surgery and took over the closer role immediately, and has been successful. I don't see Gonzalez going anywhere...
  12. Justin Duchscherer with Oakland in 2005. What about Okajima - 2007.
  13. And he'll come into the game with the bases loaded and Papi at the plate...
  14. Where/when has Harden's velocity decreased? I seen in the beginning of the year before he we was out he was throwing anywhere from 95-98..Then lately they said he's been throwing 90-92 touching 94 sometimes.. There's another thread discussing his health in the Discussion forum - but there's no evidence that his velocity is down. I watched his start on sunday vs. the Sox, and his FB was in the same range it's been all year - 90-94 (touching 96/97 a couple times).
  15. His velocity is fine; Stone is a moron.
  16. I absolutely love this trade!! \:D/ Harden is one of my favorite players, and I'm ecstatic that he's now a Cub. I can't believe we snagged Gaudin, too!! I'd much rather have him around than Marquis!!
  17. I really like some of the names I'm hearing tossed around, but one thing really concerns me - we've already got enough odds against us. Harden would be a stellar acquisition; however, what are the odds he stays healthy for any significant amount of time? I seriously don't think he's gonna last another 5 starts without having a problem. Who was the last SP with the amount of injuries he had in a 3 year time period that came back and was successful for almost an entire season? Burnett seems like less of a gamble (and I think removing him from the negative situation in Toronto would definitely improve his #'s), but he's still a pretty big injury risk as well. What happens when we sell the farm for one of these guys and they go down, replacing them with Marquis? I like the idea of Hudson - he'd be a pretty safe gamble. I'm glad I'm not the GM...
  18. Timmy needs to be starting the All star game.
  19. The Cardinals are now 1-32 in games when they're losing in the 8th inning...
  20. Lowest strikeout rate in the majors, I think That's gotta be what he was referring to... I heard it last weekend and thought he was joking - then he said it again today. He also claimed STL had the best fielding %, which isn't true.
  21. How is Molina the toughest out in baseball? This is the 2nd time I've heard it mentioned on Fox here in STL.
