  1. Why is Pujols not in?! I can't believe I'm calling for Pujols.
  2. I'd prefer the prospect route to Tejada.
  3. By whom? And when?
  4. Bit of a strange question, but seeing how Derek Lee has reached base safely in all 31 games thus far, it got me wondering, what is the longest streak for a player safely reaching base in consecutive games? Obviously it's at least Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hit streak at minimum. Just curious if anyone knows.
  5. I remember Furcal doing this in the exact same way (catch, base, tag). I'm trying think if there have been any other ways an unassisted triple play has happened.
  6. Bears trade with SD.
  7. Here at Marquette this is big news, but doesn't seem to get much attention. My guess is because it's more an exploratory move, but Dominic James declared without an agent. My guess is he comes back. He's an exciting player to watch, but frankly I can't see him having too much success as a pro.
  8. Heading to my first Cubs home opener tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Go Cubs!
  9. Well, the stats in my league are W, S, Ks, ERA and WHIP. I feel as though starters are as a result of more value since they are more likely to provide wins and strikeouts as compared to just saves. Anyone else feel that way?
  10. Alright. So I feel a bit stupid for asking, but figured I'd get the advice of a few others. I'm in a six team head to head Y! league and set at all my major positions. Through some strange occurance, I ended up with the following pitching staff: SP: Chris Carpenter Matt Cain Dan Haren Ervin Santana Mike Mussina RP: Billy Wagner Huston Street Trevor Hoffman Chad Cordero A buddy of mine is offering my Justin Verlander, Dontrelle Willis, and Jacque Jones (as filler) for Hoffman, Street, and Mussina. Am I smart to accept that trade, given my relative derth of starting pitching?
  11. I got lucky. I get both WGN and ESPN 2 in Milwaukee. But to me, there's no question: it's Len and Bob.
  12. Hey everyone. For the first time ever, I was able to get tickets to opening day at Wrigley. My question is for anyone who has been to one, is there anything traditionally done before/during the game that I should be aware of (so that I make sure I get there when I should)? I know they announce the lineup, but that's about all I know. Anything you can give me would be great!
  13. I'm just waiting for someone to post the Farnsworth vs. Wilson takedown (or rather Farnsworth's, since Wilson never stood a chance).
  14. I know it's only spring training, but I swear we've now faced and/or were scheduled to face Maddux at least two or three times.
  15. I voted no, but that's because I know you're talking technically speaking. It's been pretty reliable for me. I don't know anyone who's had problems with it either. However, I haven't touched the thing in months. It's collecting dust for two reasons: I'm enjoying the Wii much better, and I guess I wasn't as interested in the 360 and what it had to offer as I thought. I'd still get one over a PS3 though.
  16. So far I'm doing alright. 26 of 32 so far, with all six being teams that I had eliminated in the next round. Even called a few upsets like Winthrop. The Illinois one hurts though. I thought I had that upset in the bag. Only big upsets I'm calling this time through are Nevada taking down Memphis and Vandy beating Washington State.
  17. Forgive me for repeating if this has already come up, but which number one seed do you think will fall first? My money's on UNC. I think the winner of Marquette/MSU COULD win, then with Texas on deck (in theory), it's a tough task. UNC strikes me as one of the most talented teams in the field, but a team that can be beaten if you disrupt their rhythm.
  18. I've never really been that great at predicting upsets, but I did pick Maryland, Syracuse, and UConn in consecutive years for the title. Started to go astray the past two years. Doesn't bode well for my pick of Georgetown this year...
  19. I was at the Marquette/Providence game yesterday. Besides it just being an exciting game and MU now on a seven game conference win streak, they retired Dwayne Wade's jersey at halftime. I had never been to a jersey retirement ceremony before. It was really neat. Wade started sobbing when he gave Tom Crean a hug. Really cool stuff.
  20. I think it's clearly Federer. But if someone told me a few years ago that there would be a man who dominates his sport more than Tiger, I'd have thought you were crazy.
  21. I don't think it can get worse than those, but this is close...
  22. Wow. Huge gamble by the Colts, but it paid off.
  23. Marquette pulls out a tough road win in overtime to upset Pitt 77-74. Puts the Golden Eagles on a four game win streak in conference with big road wins against UConn, Louisville, and now Pitt. Pitt falls to 0-3 against AP top 25, while Marquette climbs to 4-1 against AP top 25 teams.
