  1. They'd better keep a close eye on the spending habits of the umpires...
  2. Ah yes, the curse of Central Illinois. DIRECTV I'm a college student, there's no way I could afford DirecTV.
  3. No way we should sign him. He may not be able to legally play at all, not to mention the crappy condition of his knees. I see him going to an American League team.
  4. Truth. Plus, I think they were having a much harder time selling the nameless jerseys, because what if Todd Walker leaves and some other dude gets his number? Then you're wearing a jersey for the wrong guy. Now, they can sell more shirts because the names are appealing, people like to have a favorite player and tell the world, plus people will buy new shirts when new players join the team.
  5. Is this earlier or later than when Prior was throwing off the mound last season? I think we have to consider this before declaring good news right?
  6. "Ronny, go home and forget everything Dusty Baker ever told you about hitting" "Ok, but it may take until the playoffs to do that"
  7. Ah yes, the curse of Central Illinois.
  8. In my mind, it's about correcting a romanticized and falsified picture of the past. The glorification of the Confederacy makes me sick to my stomach.
  9. Wow, consider me not reassured at all because of that article.
  10. Wow. That's....ridiculous. I've never seen so many Confederate flags. What year is that?
  11. In my trade scenario, you could add J.Jones to Laroche, Bay, Nady and Paulino to drive him in. That's a pretty decent lineup and with your young pitching, you could surprise some teams this year and be contenders very soon. No need to be cruel, Jake is a pretty nice guy.
  12. The light went on. He just "gets it" now. I sure as hell hope that's not what Cubs management thinks, but I would hope that other managements do. Even in 44 bats, that's a tremendous difference in output. Frankly, I didn't think Ronny was capable of such offensive firepower.
  13. AHAHHAHAHAH....check out this guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1BkkCXTOdQ
  14. QFT I'll PM both of you something Ahem.
  15. Okay, this makes no sense. How can Ronny go from being a .230/.284/.324/.608 hitter over the course of a VWL season, but then go .318/.373/.750/1.123 in the playoffs?!?! That's like two completely different players.
  16.
  17. It'll be fun to actually see Weatherford kick. I always said he was the best offensive force on the Fighting Illini. On the other hand, I hear he was a total jackass. As for the uniforms, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Bright Orange shirts. But sadly, I don't think they'll use them.
  18. Wow, at first I thought these playoffs were too small a sample size, but Ronny is really turning up the heat. I still think he starts in AAA though.
  19. Good lord, are football people that much more against the use of statistics than baseball people? Some of those comments are absurd.
  20. Better or worse than Blanco's contract?
  21. That picture of Olin Kreutz leaping in joy makes me so goddarned happy. Him and Brian Urlacher deserve a Super Bowl ring more than anyone else. They have truly given their heart to this team for a long time. Actually, I think he's breaking someone's jaw right there, they're just out of frame. :P
