  1. Are there no value dates after the All-Star game? Crap!
  2. I love reading how people respond without even reading the article.
  3. I found this blog in which he describes how prejudice has affected the Cy Young voting. And you know what? I agree with him. It makes sense to me now. Thoughts?
  4. I bet it's Seattle or Tennessee.
  5. Grrrr. This sucks.
  6. If he posted those numbers, we'd probably sign him, but probably with incentives for IP.
  7. I am not at all high on Huff. If we thought Sosa was bad defensively in RF, Huff makes Sosa look like Andruw Jones. I don't see the Cubs getting a big bat for RF, at least not this yr, even tho it is a weakness. I know this is going to anger some people but, if the Cubs can land Furcal (or Lugo) and/or Pierre, I could definately see the Cubs bring back Burnitz for another yr. I could live with that as well.
  8. I think he's gone too far this time. Damon just isn't that good. I don't see the contract being anywhere NEAR those numbers.
  9. According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press the Twins are trying to get Lowell from the Fish.
  10. From Newsday Important exerpts: BJ Ryan suddenly seems more accessible, but I think that we probably wouldn't pick him up until after we've bought Furcal, to make sure we have the money. Your thoughts? EDIT: Would we give Ryan the closing job? Because I'm thinking maybe he won't sign unless we promise it, and I think we already did to Dempster.
  11. No blues, punk, or ska?
  12. Bollocks. One more thing to hate about this offseason.
  13. No way. The more the Yankees are saddled with expensive, ineffective pitchers the better.
  14. Rock the Ivy: To put it bluntly, we don't have much time left until our pitchers start to become less 'cheap' and more 'insanely priced'. We've really got see if we can make it this year or next year. I think maybe an unproven AA guy for a proven leadoff hitter that can help now is a fair trade.
  15. God I would hate to have timely hitting and speed.
  16. Today in the Chicago Tribune... Seems to be the right attitude to take. I just wish they'd done it a season earlier. I'm glad to read that Rothschild isn't making excuses. Unlike Dusty, he seems to acknowledge the fact that people see through petty excuses.
  17. I'm not sure I like the idea of Marte on the team. I don't know much about Eyre though. Marte seems to me like a headcase, although maybe that just came about from pairing him up with Ozzie Guillen.
  18. where'd you hear this? I just read on a Marlins board that it will be announced tomorrow, but it didn't name who we were sending. Not reliable but I thought I would throw it out there. I bet its Sing and Nolasco.
  19. Cameron might not be ready for ST. He's still getting vertigo. :-# Gotta feel sorry the guy. I still shudder even thinking about it.
  20. Walker + Mitre for Cameron + Yusmeiro Petit
  21. It just works so well doesn't it?
  22. He can't fit.....he can't!!! :x
  23. A successful Core Patterson thank you very much. Crawford would be good in the 2-hole if we don't get Giles.
