  1. between this and the yankees being in first place I think I will avoid espn tonight. Now we will hear what a great accomplishment it is to finally be in first even thought there payroll is twice the second team in all of the league.
  2. no way prior gave up three runs again?
  3. oh joy neifi is the lead off hitter. Yep I don't even need to watch this game tonight. Between that and Prior being average now. Exciting times.
  4. basically it says that since it was a game that was more than 5 innings and the game was called it is over since the Cardinals didn't tie or take the lead in their half of the inning. say it was 1-0 on a solo homer in the first same spot now. Do they call it?
  5. they got 27 outs but we didn't and we were threatening. How is that fair? I know we would have lost anyways but what the heck?
  6. He had a compression fracture in his pitching elbow. Maybe that had an impact on his pitching. He's certainly not pitching as well as he has in the past (2003). He's also still usually able to make adjustments within a game, but the first inning of games has just killed him recently. I'm willing to consider causes. Whether he gets a pass from you for any reason is obviously up to you. Yeah, now you're just making excuses. If he's not healthy enough to pitch, then he shouldn't pitch. It's been plenty of time since that injury. If he's not over it by now, he never will be. I consider causes too. Want to know what 'causes' Mark to give up runs? Lack of pitch variety. All the rationalization in the world can't manufacture a third pitch out of thin air. so what was his third pitch in 2003??? It was a great pitch. One that is incredibly difficult to hit. They call it the "league-hasn't-adjusted-to-you-yet" ball. Nasty, nasty stuff. I thought he threw a change up before, but maybe I am mistaking. He does. Obviously nowhere near as regularly as his slurve/offspeed pitch; I don't know if he still doesn't trust it like he did back in 2003. could be he doesn't trust it since that is the pitch you would have to use the most to keep sharp and with his injury problems the last couple of years...
  7. I just don't know all the obscure rules but I have been watching baseball for a while. tell me the rule instead of telling me that I am wrong. I thought the same thing about the inning not counting as well. Apparently that isn't the case. Just seems odd it was a save situation, but we didn't get the last at bat at home.

I'm welcome not to agree with it ... which I don't. Prior's not sharp right now. Still not ready to call him washed up just yet. No I don't think he is done, I just don't think he has gotten any better in almost 4 years with us. In fact I would argue he has regressed. As has Kerry Wood. Thus I think it is obvious that the blmae should fall more on the organization than the player. But, we all know from the last year it was probably the announcers fault.

  11. Larry does suck. Which one of our young guys has gotten a lot better under him? But, we will just bring in another Baker guy anyway who will also suck at his job. I hope the 2003 guy is still in there because he was great. Rothschild was here before Baker. I know I worded that poorly I meant another as in with all the other guys we have that are Baker guys who suck. Like Matthews as the hitting coach. Who we couldn't fire because that would hurt Dusty's feelings.
  12. With that I agree. He is having some problems, but he wasn't healthy the whole year. He shows flashes of his brilliance - so he still has it. Maybe Larry sucks? Maybe playing for this crappy team doesn't bring out the best in him? He's still a very good pitcher. Larry does suck. Which one of our young guys has gotten a lot better under him? 13. we really need to bring in a better catcher next year. Offense be damned, we need a good catcher to get Prior turned back around. Sounds like the job of a pitching coach to me. Yeah well we have Dusty Baker and one of his cronies will have that job, odds are it won't be done at all.
  14.      Why, you mean to tell me Prior is a dominating pitcher? Heck no he's not so roll your eyes some place else. "not dominating" and "bad" are not exactly right next to each other on the scale. I sure hope that will be brought up when he comes up for his contract. Cause he is just above average.
  15.      What you think this guy is anywhere near what he was in 2003? Last time Prior threw a shutout? Last Prior CG? The guy was supposed to be 'The Ace" he isn't half the pitcher that Z is right now. You see the year Carpenter is having? That was Prior in 2003. Now we have Matt Morris.

  17. He gets an extension and I am done with the team until he is gone. I don;t think I deserve to have to sit through more of his crap.
  18. The thing that bugs me is he never throws a shut out. He nibbles now instead of going after the hitter. I really am starting to wonder if 2003 was just a fluke.
  19. another year with Dusty and Larry and Prior will have regressed to a number 5. Hurry up Jim lets get that extenstion for Dusty ready.
  20. what happened to the guy we had in 2003? This guy sucks.
  21. What did Morgan Ensberg come back from? suckitis. i'd never give giambi anything, ever. why is his story so heart-warming when palmeiro is basically being run out of the game? duh because Palmerio did the juice without being on the Yankees.
  22. I need Suppan to win to advance in the playoffs for my fantasy team(thanks for getting hurt Oliver Perez). Between that and me hating the Cubs right now I am torn as to who to cheer for. I don;t care abou tthe money in the fantasy league, but I like to be able to brag. That said I hate the Cardinals and am only mad at the Cubs. Go Cubs.
  23. damn gotta go to work hope he is ok. go cobs.
