  1. I am extremely jealous of their fans.
  2. We will pay them back in hoops
  3. Yes, but much like the Jeffrey Maier thing, all of Yankees history is conveniently written in such a way to make it look like the Yankees won every playoff series cleanly, fairly, and evenly. yep.
  4. wait wasnt giambi safe anyways?
  5. good lord there are enough neifi perezs and jose macias now without 2 more teams. if anything they should contract about 5, nyy, boston, chis, stl, and hou.
  6. Good point, and lets not forget Dusty manages better in day games. well day games in the summer anyways.
  7. Better defense, and provides more value offensively over the average SS/3B than Pujols does over the average 1B. He is also faster and runs the bases better. Case in point last year he won a playoff game by himself by stealing third and scoring on a wild pitch. Pujols, although a good baserunner lacks because of speed. That said I like Pujols better.
  8. I have met Steve Sax, Carlos Beltran, and Dontrelle Willis. Willis was at a card show, but he seemed like a great guy. He wasn't supposed to personalize balls or take pictures for everyone, but he did anyways. Plus he smiled the whole time, I know he was getting paid, but you would be surprised how many of those guys still act like boobs.
  9. Not me. The Cards got beat by the better team. Good teams make thier own luck, and the Astros did it 4 out of 6 games. I'm glad the Cards made it to the NLCS. No shame in that. That said, I hope the Sox win because it would be cool to see a WS winner in Chicago. yeah not having Scott Rolen really makes your lineup a lot more pedestrian. That and someone needs to take poor Larry Walker out behind a shed and shoot him. That guy was great and it is hard to see him like he is now. That being said I can't root for either of these two franchises. Like 2003 there will be no World Series this year in my mind.
  10. Why wouldn't he? I am sure he sees the writing on the wall and knows if he doesn't make improvements he will be out of baseball soon. I for one hope Corey rebounds and has a big year, reguardless of where he is.
  11. I'd rather lose a game to USC in that fashion than beat a creampuff team. It says more about the ND team to me than had they walloped New Mexico State by 50 points. Heck yeah I think it is awesome that they play that tough of a schedule. Weiss is the real deal it would appear. I don't know if Willingham could have coached the Patriots over USC.
  12. All fan bases cry about officials. Trust me you would have been amazed at what the hawkeye fans were saying about the referees when Illinois played them at Iowa last year in college bball. The guy next to me said Ed Hightower was fixing games for them that's why they were undefeated in games he did he said we were like 5-0 in his games. I said hey idiot I believe Illinois is 27-0 so it ain't just Ed. We at Illinois still bitch about Sean May. It happens everywhere.
  13. I am rooting for a nuclear explosion at this point. WTF didn't this happen to us two years ago. The baseball gods are some sick puppies the last two years have been hell for Cubs fans.
  14. I turn pics off. Who wants to look at Macias. touche it is also a lot of fun to go back to the early 1900s and tank so you can draft Ruth and Gerhig.
  15. interesting thing about this game is in like 15 years your players get agent that are animals. I was dealing with Prior like in 2020 and he was wanting to retire and his agent talking to me was a dolphin. That and Corey Patterson died on my team, but I could still keep him in the lineup. Try using the Yankees with their payroll, it is so easy it isn't even funny.
  16. So far no Cards starter has given up more than 2 ER in a playoff game. On the other hand, you have Clemens with five, Pettitte with five and three, and Oswalt with three. We need to tweak the bullpen and right now that means very modest use of Tavarez. Our starters need to go deeper into the games and get the ball to Izzy. In the regular season, our bullpen had a 3.22 ERA to Astros 3.66. I know you're not using your last bullpen guys and we're missing Reyes, but I don't see enough evidence to give a defacto nod to Astros starters and bullpen. Plus, we've added a valuable Marquis in relief. We'll also see how Sanders is affected by his outfield mishap. He's hardly been weak in the post season, minus the last game against Oswalt who no Card could hit. I'd say his 12 RBIs give Pujols enough protection. Granted, Walker is a question mark. If I were the Cards, I'd think long and hard about giving Walker's spot to Taguchi, batting him second and moving Edmonds to the cleanup spot. Edmonds has been far from effective, but we are playing the next three games in Minute Maid. use reyes, anthony in the bullpen.
  17. Right he should have ripped his head off got suspended for like 20 games down the stretch last year so Bako could have been the catcher on a team struggling to score runs. That would have been smart. Barrett was actually very smart in not ripping his head off. This year after we were out of it he should have though.
  18. Well since my relatives are also cardinalfans, I am rooting for the Cardinals in this one, that with the fact I think they are a far superior team. I mean your starting pitching is great, but if you get past Ensberg and Berkman you really don't have a lot as far as lineup goes. Either way when it is all said and done I think they will beat you because they have the best player in the game. If you wanna win this series you have to win tonight if Morris beats Clemens I think it is done.
  19. Wow, you're a bitter little man. Why is he a punk? B/c he shut you down? Jeez, that response is lamer than 1st inning curtain calls from the "best fans in baseball."  no because he is a punk. He should have fought Barrett last year after he threw at him. Little punk. Barrett would have broke him like a twig. Clemens isn't a punk, Oswalt is.
  20. What about the sad state of your lineup? At some point the pixie dust will wear off and Chris Burke will remember he is just Chris Burke. That and they have Albert Pujols and you don't.
  21. It would be helpful to others on the board if you could explain your perspective. Do you have numbers, anecdotes, or something else to support your dislike of Scoscia? I don't think anyone in their right mind would hand Rob Quinlann a job over Dallas McPherson. I don't think many managers would still have Darren Erstad playing over Casey Kotchman. I think being in a terrible division with a huge payroll makes him look a lot better than he is.
  22. Hendry loves these types of players. Rich Hill is the archtype, and he might turn into a good #3 starter. If Guzman can reach his potential, imagine having a Zambrano - Prior - Guzman rotation in a playoff series! I'm not sure how you can leave Kerry Wood off of that list. It sure would be a nice problem to have.
  23. Steve Phillips is a moran, "for walker to take an injection to face astacio, he will want to do something big here." Yeah because normally he isn't trying to do positive things.
  24. Why, just because he's "young?" That and it's Texas. They never have adequate pitching. Give Hendry Theo's money and the Cubs would be playing tomorrow. beginning the season with Holly as a starting LF is the kind of thing that derailed us, not a small budget. A good GM doesn't need 150 mil to assemble a division championship team. Holly was platooning w/ DuBois right?? As I recall, many were happy w/ this platoon. Did you not want to see DuBois get a chance?? Besides RF, I recall most people being content w/ the lineup. Right but how many were fans of Nomar getting hurt and Neifi playing everyday? Plus we didn't think Neifi would leadoff half the year either. Fun times the Cubs fans had in 05.
