  1. Decent outfield for the US Team. I am suprised that Harvey, Ryan isn't on there. :P
  2. Victor Diaz and Craig Brazell. Two big turds.
  3. \Sweet he and Ryan Harvey can be our new wood and prior.Oh and the best hendry trade is the three young arms for Juan Pierre.
  4. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Kyler%2520Burke&pos=CF&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=501965 :| You don't like a .268 slugging percentage?
  5. So who's the prospect? I wasn't aware the Padres had "high level" prospects They don't. unless you think Cedric Hunter is.
  6. No Kershaw? I take it he started to close to the game? No...he pitches 6 days ago. Watson has spiffy numbers and has a great first half too (in fact, he has a lower ERA and a better K/BB). Kershaw better get promoted to A+ so I can see him in San Bernardino. Really, doesn't the nod usually go to the bigger prospect though? Again all you guys living near these great prospects really make me jealous. My closest is a three hour drive to see Hochevar.
  7. It is in baseball's best interest for the Yankees to be chasing the Red Sox. He will be a Yankee.
  8. No Kershaw? I take it he started to close to the game?
  9. at least now they can call him up.
  10. I wish I lived near enough that I could.
  11. Really long term, it's a lock to be broken with advances in medical technology. I wouldn't bet against players regularly playing until they're 50 or 60, if not indefinitely in 200 years. i was thinking along these lines myself So you think people won't die?
  12. You do realize Kansas City is better than every team in our division not named Milwaukee? They are getting a lot better and they are in the toughest division in baseball. Plus they have held their own in interleague play thus far.
  13. Have you seen their line up and rotation? They seem to like getting rid of the good players and keeping the marginal players. Not sure how Young and Tex have managed to keep their jobs in Texas this long. This is the same team that traded Travis Hafner and Aaron Myette for Einar Diaz and Ryan Drese. It's the same team that signed Chan Ho Park for a ridiculous amount of money. Traded Alex Rodriguez for Alfonso Soriano and Joaquin Arias. Well they are trying to trade Tex.
  14. I'll concede most of those except the pitching distance. Young had only been pitching 3 years when it changed from 50 feet to 601/2. Probably, but I think the same could be said for the hitting greats of their time. You bring Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker, or Honus Wagner up to today's ballparks and they'd destroy. First off, the usually only played with one ball the entire game which pitchers were ALLOWED to scuff up, spit on, grind in dirt, etc. So by the later innings it is said that the pitch looked like a knuckleball but at the speed of a fastball. Second, their bodies weren't taken care off like the players of today. They had to be tough or they wouldn't play. Hell, Cobb had his tonsils removed with anesthetic minutes before a game against the White Sox in like 1915 and still had like 3 hits. I think in the end it's all relative. Great talents are great talents regardless of the era. People like inflated averages like Cobb's or Hornsby's and they'd naturally want to say "well, I guess everyone had averages like that", which isn't true. League BA's are the same back then as they are now. But indeed, respect or not, Cy Young's records are just absurd and his era should be taken into consideration, but I don't think an asterisk is fair. I agree, Young pitched well and dominated against Anson. He then pitched well against the same guys Mathiewson did. Chirsty pitched great against the same guys that Walter Johnson did. Walter did the same with the guys that Dizzy Dean faced. Dizzy with the guys that Warren Spahn faced. Spahn with the guys that Bob Gibson faced. Gibson with the guys that Nolan Ryan faced. Ryan the same guys Clemens faced. Sure the game changed, but it progressed and the players did along with it.
  15. Considering last year you had Justin Upton, Cameron Maybin, Jay Bruce, and Colby Rasmus. I won't be shedding too many tears for fans in those cities.
  16. He supposedly takes (or has taken) grounders at first base during BP and wants to play at least one inning in the outfield in his career. He really is that crazy. I went very early to a game a few years ago, the Darryl Kyle game. He was out there shagging flyballs. After a few diving catches, one of the coaches came out and chewed him out. He totally was just tossing his body around.
  17. Says the guy who cheers for the team who has made some crap trades lately.
  18. nice game cubs, way to take a duece on fathers day
  19. Then why didn't Maddux give them the lowdown on Zambrano? They were both on the same team for quite a while, and nobody could hit him yesterday. Because Hill isn't in the same league as Z. Sure he is, but they have a different repertoire. Z is mostly hard stuff, with a heavy sink when he's on. Hill throws two very different pitches and relies on keeping hitters off balance. Z is coming back around now, in another month he will probably have a better era than rich.

  21. He sure would have when he was a cub.
