  1. Anyone not seeing a Kearns homer here? The guy owns us.
  2. god, ohman can't you ever get two lefties in a row?
  3. You were sweating in a 7-2 win? The tying run never even made it to the plate. Nah, I wasn't referring to last night. Just in general. I'm too nervous, anything under 3 runs I don't feel comfortable. Ok, phew. I mean I get being nervous in close games, I mean we are all cubs fans.

  5. I recall he does a little bit. Lou is perfectly fluent in Spanish. That's what I thought I had heard. Surprised me, to be honest. Not that a coach or manager knows at least a little Spanish, just that he's apparently fluent in it. I am sure he is baseball fluent, I wonder if he has all of the vocab down.
  6. Days when we don't have Aramis in the lineup make me nervous. I really hope Hendry can find a way to inject some hitting power in this lineup if they're really gonna make a run. Ryan Harvey or Brian Dopirak :P
  7. Yeah Rammy is a much better hitter than Lee.
  8. Yeah, he just did and almost caught him napping. Yeah, I must had missed that part, but still, the way the runner was leaning, he's bound to slip while trying to get back.... Oh well, no harm done. Struck him out. It would have been an interesting pickoff with Lee playing behind the runner.
  9. damn him. damn him. Why don't they just dfa him? just send him back down. odds are he will clear waivers.
  10. And even Hardy has hat some bad days. Didn't he have 3 errors in one game against the Cubs? Yes, but for the most part he is pretty good with the glove. The other three are really bad. Fielder has 10 errors already, 10! At first base, that isn't easy to do. Braun is a great hitter, who in the field is a great hitter. Estrada isn't too great either.
  11. The Brewers have a very good team, but at some point that infield defense has to catch up with them. Every one of them, but Hardy is a hack in the field.
  12. :-x I was looking for his name yesterday, when I made my 'Vote for Raisin' banner. I wanted 'Vote for Edward K'. I LOLed all over my keyboard! Does anyone remember the question that Edward K asked in that Cubs mailbag? I tried doing a google search, but came up empty. Wasn't it about Neifi in the All-Star game? I was thinking it had something to do with the awesomeness of Neifi I know it was about Neifi, but I can't remember what. It was pretty great though.

  14. Simply amazing. If Dusty was still the manager, this team would've curled up and died after everything that happened. Yep with Jones in center, Izturis at ss, and Wade Miller going every 5th day. The first two months, with some of the bullpen and starting lineup decisions, Lou was starting to make me wonder. Of course now, he has adopted a keen policy of not starting Jones or Izturis, and he avoids Eyre to a very pleasing extent. Looking back, he was good about giving people playing time but also giving people chances, and now that he has given chances to his liking, he is reacting accordingly and things are working out. Plus, I'm not sure he got due credit for his ejection. The day before, with the Barrett-Z scuffle, the team had pretty much hit the season's lowpoint, and the next day, Lou comes out and takes the attention off the team. Obviously a lot of other things had to go right, but I think that was a pretty effective plug in a rapidly draining tub. I agree, he definately took one for the team. Dusty would have been pretty busy blaming the umps and the day games. Lou has done a pretty good job this year. Sure, there are some things I wish he wouldn't do such as Pagan over Pie, but for the most part I can't complain too much.
  15. Shane Youman. He'll be making his first appearance this season. Here are his numbers in AAA: 4-6, 4.70 ERA, 1.58 WHIP Christ, looks like we need to win to keep pace. Yeah, I think it's more likely we catch SD/LAD than Mil at this point. (SD 1 game ahead of LAD) If you take the Cubs' and Brewers' last ten games each, they combine for exactly one loss in games in which they weren't playing against each other. I don't see either team slowing down. It's very possible that the one who goes 6-1 over this stretch against Wash-Pit will lose a game of ground. Well if we keep chasing them we will run down the wild card at some point.

  17. so let's review what happened in that span. the fallout from Barrett and Z and the subsequent trade that created a second offensive blackhole in the lineup the fallout from Lou's tantrum and the outrageous 4 game suspension the short end of the stick in a beanball war/dirty play war that basically cost the Cubs a fighting chance in two different ballgames. yet another set of long extra inning games where the offense couldn't scratch together a run. the short end of the stick in another beanball war. an estranged team hero ironically hitting a milestone HR off a pitcher wearing his old uniform number. a disheartening defensive lapse killing a chance at a great comeback. a bullpen meltdown for the ages. 4 fricken pitches? c'mon. a notorious Cub hating umpire 'coincidentally' showing up behind home plate in the biggest series of the year. the team you're chasing crushing your starting pitcher in the first inning two games in a row. a controversially nixed trade for a player and the fallout thereof. a 15 day DL stint for the best (or at a minimum, one of the best ) hitter(s). about 10 days without the closer. a chronically taxed bullpen due to several of the above. say all you want about the level of talent and the way the team is put together, but this is one of the most resilient teams I've ever seen. Simply amazing. If Dusty was still the manager, this team would've curled up and died after everything that happened. Yep with Jones in center, Izturis at ss, and Wade Miller going every 5th day.
  18. who toes the rubber for pit?
  19. they should concentrate their efforts on assembling a good pitching staff Bailey, Arroyo, and Harang is a good start. Plus they might get the first pick in the draft next year. Isn't the guy in next years draft a big time pitcher? For now, most of the the best prospects are hitters (3B Pedro Alvarez of Vanderbilt being the leading candidate for the #1 overall pick). Oh, either way though there always ends up a pretty good pitcher in every draft. If they find even one of them, they have a good start.
  20. I think we are going to need the Cardinals to help us out with the Brewers. Hopefully Larussa's Holograms are better than Yost's
  21. he's ok in the corner outfield, but he cant judge a ball hit right at him in center.....he just takes bad routes on those balls that pie could catch He also plays the wall poorly, I swear he jumps just for the heck of it.
  22. I think hes stuck on the bench for the foreseeable future until he has a good game or two. :( Tough to have a good game from the bench. Tough to develop when you're on the bench too. I also love how we are willing to accept crap offense from our Catcher and Shortstop for the sake of defense, but we can't do the same in center field.
