  1. Just about to post this. He hit 15-of-22 shots including 10-of-15 3-pointers. Also hit all 14 free throws. Most points in a single game in Kentucky history. And looking at his stats, he's also had a 46 point game (hit 9 threes), and games of 39, 37 and 32 (hit 8 threes). The old record was 53 points, set by Dan Issel way back in the 1969-70 season. Issel also had a 51-point game the same season. The ESPN game announcers are talking Meeks up as a possible national player of the year contender. And not mentioned in the previous posts was that the game was at Tennessee (who had a long home winning streak going), and Kentucky won 90-72. didnt gonzaga snap that streak last week?
  2. What he's breaking records left and right. He won it over Beasley and there is no one that can sniff Beasley in college this year. I would be shocked if he doesn't win it.
  3. I'm not sure to what degree I agree with him, though he's probably referring somewhat rightfully to the general opinion that Hansbrough and Stephen Curry are the generally agreed-upon two-man race. Blake Griffin Damn it, you're right. I knew I missed one. It doesn't matter anyways, Psycho T is winning this again. They outta have an asterick for the studs who were screwed out of this award by the media's love for Pscho T. Michael Beasley not winning last year is just awesome. Yeah you were hands down better than the kid were going to give it to, but oh well. he is the tim tebow of basketball. At least Tebow's team wins their last game each year. Note I didn't say the national championsip as it really doesn't exist in college football.

A few years ago he put a public whipping on Stephen A. Smith after Smith was talking trash about him on TV. I'm pretty sure the Blazers meant that email directly to Memphis, but basically CC'd the entire NBA. And this issue is much deeper than Darius Miles, it is the fact that Jerry West is still the GM of the Lakers. First Gasol was handed to LA for nothing in one of the most one sided trades in NBA history and now Mephis is basically trying to muck up Portland's cap. Is it maybe because Portland will probably be the main threat to LA the next few years with their core of Roy, Aldridge & Oden? Stern needs to step in, the NBA is becoming the WWE. Wait. So Memphis is doing this to screw over Blazers for L.A.? Haha. Awesome. Apparently it's a direct order from Jerry West's nonexistent office in Memphis. I wonder if the Blazers realize how if no one did sign him after that his agent and himself could probably sue, and win easily, for collusion. Yeah it sucks you have to pay his salary now, but who put the gun to your head to give Darius Miles that long, big money contract?

  7. He's still going to get better. Unreal.
  8. Two things. 1. OKC isn't gonna sniff 15 wins this year. 2. Wade missed most of last year, if you wanna blame him for the Heat only winning 15 games you might as well blame MJ for the Bulls sucking again this year. Neither of them had much to do with the team being bad.
  9. Davis is a first round draft pick, probably in the top 15. Wow, really? http://www.draftcountdown.com/sub/Mock-Draft-A.php #15 to the Pats in this one. Aka, you'll see him in a Pro Bowl in two years. Nice, where would Benn be if he were elligible to come out? I think he'll be top 15 next year. This year, I'd take him after Crabtree but before Maclin. Kinda what I figured. Crabtree is a stud.

  12. Where is Vontae Davis going? Round wise.
  13. Wait, did I miss something? Why wouldn't Baldelli play in '09? I assume that GoCubsGo missed that he was actually giving the wrong diagnosis for his illness. There is no reason he shouldn't be ready to go.
  14. No, that was Taylor Teagarden and Preston Clark. And Tim Lincecum. And Micah Owings. And Khalil. I dont think there are any other notable ones recently. Matt LaPorta was the same year as Lincecum.
  15. Agreed. At least when it comes to being cool. And just being all around sick. I still can't get over this. Sorry Iowa fans. Thanks. I had blocked out that entire season post-Christmas. Ranked top 5 preseason by some and mostly stayed in top 10 in the non-conference. Favorites to win the Big Ten. Lost to Mizzou in Guardian's Classic (only to beat them by 20 later at Mizzou), Duke and at UNI which prompted Alford to throw away their pizza after the game and make them ride back to Iowa City hungry. Sitting at like 13-3 and after stomping Wisconsin at home my only concern walking out of Carver was whether we would be able to win the Big Ten and grab a 1 or 2 seed. We then went 4-11 in the rest of the Big Ten as the team imploded and quit. I'm pretty sure this is the season that killed any excitement for basketball in the state of Iowa. You would be correct. That and Pierce the next year. We were a 1 seed that year so I don't know where you were getting you were favored to win the big ten. I still have a couple of magazines from that year and it was a tossup between us and MSU in both of them.
  16. nope sorry we were actually looking for kenny battle.
  17. Agreed. At least when it comes to being cool.
  18. The help side defense was absolutely awful the whole second half. Rotation was terrible and there was no communication on the weave thing they were doing up top. They'll get better and Michigan caused some weird matchups, but going 1-1 in the 1st 2 conference games is fine, especially with the win at PU. Yep we were playing with house money today. Just have to beat them at home.
  19. Making fun of Steve Alford is a favorite past time of mine. Reguardless of who is around. Hell I expect you guys to get in on it.
  20. Then why did you talk about Illinois last year? Or Illinois football this year? because when illinois basketball is down, everyone notices. when iowa basketball is down and a pointless waste of time, the sky is blue. Over the last 3 years Iowa is one game better than Illinois in the Big Ten. We had a coaching move in the middle of that 3 years, Bruce has no such excuse. Except maybe that it can be a distraction to have players leave another teammate to die. What about the irrelevant Illinois football team this year? Why were they discussed? why just the past 3 years? but i guess a tourney appearance for the hawkeyes is considered a successful season, and that's just fine for a largley irrelevant program. you guys are doin great! you can go to the football thread to discuss illinois football if you'd like. i thought this was the basketball thread. but if you're asking me, illinois football was just about irrelevant enough to beat the hawkeyes. I was obviously cherry-picking the numbers to help state my case. But the fact remains that Illinois hasn't been relevant since Deron Williams left. No more relevant than Iowa. You don't want anyone to discuss irrelevant teams. Yet you continually discussed (well actually you just whined about officiating and how only you are doomed to root for teams with terrible luck) Illinois football. They were completely irrelevant this year and haven't been any more relevant historically than Iowa basketball. And if you want to go the head-to-head route, I wasn't bragging when Iowa beat Illinois in '07. We stunk, they went to the Rose Bowl. It didn't really mean much. Fun facts. The year after Deron Williams left we went 18-0 to start the season. The last remaining undefeated team in America. We won at UNC and at Wisconsin. Thanks for the history lesson though. Good call on us not being relevant after Deron Williams. What I really like about that statement though is how pretty much everyone, Jay Bilas included, didn't even think Deron Williams was all that great in college. Hell Dee Brown and Luther Head were the first team All Americans.
  21. Steve Alford would have claimed you the mythical number one team in america
  22. Yeah I see us losing this one big. We haven't had a really bad game yet and I fear that with as young as we are it might be that time.

Ah what the heck lets just do the whole decade to get a better idea of who has had the better program. I'd rather not Fair enough.

But, being as I find football very boring I don't lose too much sleep over it.
  25. Gray deserves those calls for being so big, so white, and so bad. I love how this statement doesn't get the crap it should. Vince Young should be on the bench in Tennessee because he is so dumb, so black, so bad. Both ways are racist. calling a big, bad, white guy big, bad and white is not racist. I guess more than anything can't you just leave out the white guy thing? I mean he deserves the foul because he is slow. He is bad because he's slow. What the hell do either of those two things have to do with being white?
