  1. you know thats not true. Lol. Look at our schedule again. Which one would you give us even money on winning? the home game against minnesota. That's pry the best shot. They detroyed us last time. They play in your face defense that will rattle us again as our guards are awful. I really think we lose out.
  2. you know thats not true. Lol. Look at our schedule again. Which one would you give us even money on winning? no i know you have a tough schedule and it'll be difficult, but i'd be very very surprised if you didnt get in. I don't know if we win another game. @OSU I doubt it, we've never beaten them there since Matta took over MSU yeah right @PSU I doubt it, we just lost to them while holding Cornley, Pringle, and Battle to 10 points Minn we put up 36 last time we played them Better hope we've already done enough.

  4. I siad this two pages ago. This game was very important. Nice game coach. Your offense is a beauty to watch.
  5. Not quite to the same level. Deron Williams was kinda the best of that bunch. Luther was the second best. If those two weren't there it isn't near the upset. it was an upset based on the fact that it was at Champaign, and PSU sucked. A win by PSU this year would be far less of an upset, though I'm not counting on it. The regular season finale in State College will probably be closer. I really don't think that it would be an upset if you beat us at home. You have a pretty good team regardless of what Tim Doyle said.
  6. Like last year, for instance. Illinois probably has the toughest finishing stretch of any Big Ten team for the last 5 games: PSU twice, at OSU, and home vs. Minn and MSU. However, they actually now control their own destiny to the Big Ten title and 1 seed if they win out. First step is tonight, so I really hope they come ready to play. PSU also won in Champaign against one of the Williams/Head/Brown teams Nope, that was just a Brown/Augustine team. It was the year after the national runner up team. That was the game McBride hit the game winner a little less than .1 seconds too late. That game cost us a shared Big Ten title, and at least a 3 seed.(We got hosed as it was, but that had to be what the committee looked back on.) ah, okay, so the year after the NC appearance. Either way, it was an upset Not quite to the same level. Deron Williams was kinda the best of that bunch. Luther was the second best. If those two weren't there it isn't near the upset.
  7. Who? I'm watching the Purdue MSU game, and I don't think they've mentioned that. Have you had the game on mute the whole time? :) They mention Hummel and his back fracture every 5 minutes. You're gonna look so dumb when he wins the player of the year award.
  8. Can I get a rundown of the Lavin tenure at UCLA? I know everyone pretty much hates him there because he wasn't God or John Wooden, but why, exactly? I understand UCLA is a top notch program, but what did he do (or not do) that makes him so reviled in Westwood? He was a horrible coach and teacher (from all accounts, his practices were basically pick-up games with no actual coaching). His most talented players never came close to reaching their potential and all his teams underperformed by a wide margin. His recruiting dropped precipitously after the first few years (when he was living off the 1995 national championship). And when fans, alum and media started calling him out, he said UCLA fans weren't satisfied unless they won national championships and needed to lower their expectations (this wasn't the reason most UCLA fans were upset with Lavin; some fans still need to become more realistic but this was complete BS to try and deflect the criticism). Baron Davis said it best when he was practicing at Pauley with the Warriors last year: "We should have a banner up there: the only team to make the tournament without a coach." I thought his biggest problem was Baron Davis and JaRon Rush going pro after their sophomore years. Those guys stick around and Davis actually stays healthy and who knows what they do. JaRon got some really bad advice. The last time I saw him, about a year ago, he was working at a Sprint kiosk in the mall here. Too bad I thought he was the most talented Rush.

  10. Illinois could easily lose out.
  11. Besides Yao who else is a good center in the West? Keep in mind that Bynum is hurt.
  12. Michigan State is going to win the conference.
  13. Lack of depth once again. Why the hell won't K play Mason Plumlee?
  14. T on Weber for mouth breathing.
  15. Our two best free throw shooters have fouled out.
  16. Yeah this is how people get hurt. Oooooooh then have Chester tackle Daniel Moore. No way buddy. Not hurting Moore. He has too much guts.
  17. Yeah this is how people get hurt.
  18. Us playing Frazier asks for that. Having one guy who never looks to shoot really makes you suseptible to that kinda defense.
  19. Wow no foul there.
  20. They've shot 19 free throws. We've shot 2. Typical Big Ten game.
  21. The referees are really trying to handicap this game.
  22. Yeah he did. I hate these type games though. It's just sad to see Dominique Wilkins trying to play in that shape. I laso hate how once again Lisa Leslie is on the NBA all star show. Is she still really the one to push from the WNBA 10 years later? Give us Candice Parker and Diana Taurasi.
  23. Yeah you are right. But, let's say we landed Sherron Collins. How many minutes is Trent playing for us? In the late 90s early 2000's we were landing Sheron Collins. Now we aren't. Now Trent's a starter. Sherron Collins was a 5 star player in the CPL. When did Illinois ever land that type of recruit outside of the Henson era? The teams of the early millennium were stacked with players from downstate, and the talent downstate at the time was unbelievable. Chicago recruiting is a completely different beast, and Illinois was incredibly lucky to have that sort of talent south of I-80 during that era. Dee wasn't CPL but he was a 5 star from Chicago. Also if you think that Self would have missed on Collins if he was still at the UofI then your nuts. Even then there are a lot of guys that we could have got that would be playing over Trent that were not 5 star cpl guys. Pargo, Dentmon, etc. We also could have got Evan Turner. My point sitll is Meacham isn't the type of talent that has been starting for Illinois during Self or Kruger's eras. Barring the one year that Kruger had Frankie Williams ruled inelligible Self may not have missed, but I am not convinced it would have been completely legal either. Well as is evident by our what, 30 some self reported infractions, I think he was cheating as it was anyways. Just not to a level to get us in big trouble.
