  1. Anyone who thought that was fun, wait til the bottom half of the 9th with Gregg pitching.
  2. Did he not fully swing there? Edit: nope, good call.
  3. Has he got enough service time to get a pension?
  4. Yeah that's why they should retire young. Get your money and get out.
  5. i doubt it. he doesn't strike out as many guys as pedro in his prime, and he's been really lucky this year. .268 BABIP with a 20% LD rate, and 0 HRs allowed. he's allowed 45 fly balls; his career HR/FB is a shade under 10% meaning that he'd "normally" have given up 3 or 4 HRs by now. his numbers should be excellent, but once the fly balls start going over the fence and he has a couple of bad starts, that ERA will probably end up in the mid 2's or something. Kaufmanns pretty big, he might be able to keep the homer rate down.
  6. I think there are many who have thought this since he was in HS. I hope he doesnt. It just shows you how much the culture varies from sport to sport. If Lebron was a high school kid breaking into MLB with that kind of body then you know damned well it would become a topic of discussion. But in the NBA I can't recall any talk of steroid use at all. I think it is fair to ask the question in regards to Lebron because he went straight to the NBA from high school with a NBA body already in place. I mean seriously look at college freshmen and prior HS to NBA players.......these kids simply do not come built like Karl Malone at that point in life. Or couldn't he just be a freak of nature? If it was just steroids making him that big and fast, believe that every high school stud would be juicing now.
  7. Only one time have I ever bought an NBA fixing. The year the Lakers played the Kings in a Game 7 and shot like 45 freethrows in the 4th quarter and barely won in overtime. There is no doubt in my mind that Stern fixed that one.
  8. I didn't see the HR, what did he do? Stared out at Dempster and then made an ass of himself while rounding third and heading home.
  9. on mlb tv they are ripping on Braun. Mitch Williams and Joe Magrane were going off about him being a showboat.
  10. In a week then we should still be pretty close. Those two teams are pretty bad. LOL, you are watching the game right now, right? Yep. I imagine we look about as bad as we did last year when we played in September. We were awful, couldn't beat the reds. We still won 97 games. It's a 162 game season. There are going to be some crappy stretches. These games are the worst: no timely hitting, poor managerial decisions, poor pitching, poor defense, etc..... it's not just one thing. And the great thing is we play again tomorrow. I figured it would be a slow start. We have had no favor done to us with our schedule early. But the good thing is we already have two trips to Milwaukee and Houston done.

  12. Well we are two games behind Milwaukee and St. Louis and they are both playing above their heads. Meanwhile we have had one game with our opening day lineup. And we're not going to anytime soon. That's true, but I refuse to believe that Soto and Bradley and Lee are as bad as they have played so far.
  13. Yup. Yeah, but get back to me in a week. Let's see if we're still 2.5 out (doubt it and not for the better, either) Who do we have next? I know the Padres and Astros at home, then down to St. Louis In a week then we should still be pretty close. Those two teams are pretty bad.

  16. Yeah, I'm not all that worried. Lot of season left and Hendry will make a move.
  17. He fits their organization though. At the start of this game their pbp guy says we have a bad break with Ramirez getting hurt and Schroeder chuckles. The organization just exudes class. Seriously? Wow. Last year after Gallardo got hurt he said maybe Zambrano can get hurt for the cubs. I can't believe a former player would be so giddy about the thought of your rivals getting hurt.

  19. He's at 88. So one more patient inning and we get to their pen. Not a bad place to be if we can keep the score where it is. I think that with Ramirez gone the Cubs need to get Soriano and Bradley hitting back-to-back. Nah we should be ok still on offense. Soto and Milton are going to start hitting at some point. If not, it doesn't matter who we have playing third anyways. I am more worried about our defense with Rammy gone.

  21. Gallardo is going to have to come out soon, now that Yost is gone.
