  1. Maybe he wouldn't. Good call, he was awful when he was here. All he's saying is that we have no way of knowing exactly how DeRosa would have performed if the Cubs hadn't traded him. Maybe he'd have 20 homers. Maybe he'd have suffered a freak season-ending injury in May. We'll just never know. Either way the reason we had to move him was ridiculous.

  3. Vitters tore up the Midwest League as an age appropriate player. Heck no they haven't passed him.
  4. The Cardinals broadcasters are awful.
  5. Mark DeRosa has 20 homers. Would be leading our team. Too bad he's not lefthanded. :banghead:
  6. Even more obnoxious is how the Cubs can handily take 3 of 4 from the Astros and then just completely shut down in all facets just from going down the Florida. I'll be happy with 1 of 3. We suck down there every year.
  7. Why can't we start using the Guz in the 8th?
  8. man on thrid less than two outs for the good part of their order in the third and they don't score. maybe it's mitchell boggs turn to be good. I'm sure the Cards offense will come back and Boggs will shut the Astros down. It's the natural order of things.

  10. Theriot has had three awful at bats tonight.
  11. Gnashing of teeth and pounding of breasts by the 3rd inning? Oh, it's definitely one of THOSE nights. Why do you come to game threads if it bothers you so much?
  12. That last inning was what life is as a Cubs fan. Pitcher hitting .086 big double. Your guys robbed.
  13. I heard Jose Hernandez is our emergency catcher Seriously though, who is the emergency catcher? I remember hearing it was Theriot at one point. Not that it matters but just curious. Wells or Marmol.
  14. If Harden makes it through the season in one piece, I can't foresee any circumstance in which he ends up with a one year deal. If we don't offer him arby, I'll be really, really upset. Gregg, also, seems to be a no-brainer. I am personally hoping that Grabow performs well, but the other people near the borderline of a/b perform better and he ends up as a "b" guy this winter. Yeah the bad thing about Grabow is, like Juan Cruz, team who's picks aren't protected probably aren't going to want to lose the picks.
  15. I'm scared of offering arbitration to average Type A guys and getting stuck with them. With the Cubs payroll situation as it is, I think we are going to be more prudent about the moves that we make. That said, sort of got to wait to see the ownership situation and what the payroll is going to be. Right there is a risk invloved. Although Gregg and Harden seem like no brainers to me as I imagine both won't want one year deals.
  16. Then we should not be banning them at all. In fact they should be required in order to play professional baseball. Imagine Milton on them.
  17. So then fire the manager. Actually don't, keep being a doorstep in the division.
  18. Dusty's not ready to conceed. Really though who would they sell? I guess Rhodes. Rhodes, Harang, Arroyo, Weathers, Cordero maybe? I would think they would want to keep Harang if they have thoughts of competing for the division next year, Cordero too. The others though probably.
  19. Dusty's not ready to conceed. Really though who would they sell? I guess Rhodes.
  20. Possibly. Add Kemp in and I think the Padres have to do it. Then spin off Peavy for prospects and your at least trying to rebuild.
  21. He's still super young for his league though. I would imagine he still has a lot of trade value.
  22. oh for the love of god! if i see manny win another world series i will [expletive] puke! If San Diego wanted Maybin and Miller for Bell, I can only imagine the number of great prospects the Padres will want from LA for Gonzalez and Bell. Kershaw, Loney, Gordon, Martin, Lindblom, Dejesus, and Withrow?
  23. If we offer arbitration to the right guys this could go way up. I think that Gregg and Grabow are both type A's. They could both net us a couple extra draft picks which would only help. But yeah, it seems our system is improving.
