Yeah, he's earned not getting fired in the middle of the year. He's ran a clean program and taken us further than anyone else ever has. You only fire POS like Kelvin Sampson in the middle of the season.

Depends. Can Egwu make the same leap that Leonard made? If he does anywhere close we will be decent. Abrams is going to be a lot better by next year. Having a good point guard will help out a lot. Mike Shaw is also our best rebounder. Leads the team in a wide marghin in rebounds per minute. Just because Bruce won't let a freshman play unless his hand is forced everyone assumes these kids suck. They don't. Not saying they suck, just saying that very limited experience and it's not like they are ADavis or CZeller. As for Egwu-Leonard, didn't Egwu only play like 3 years of HS basketball? That's a lot of coordination/skill development to rely on. He did, but Leonard wasn't much more experienced in his body. He grew like 8 inches after his sophomore year. I think a whole year playing against Leonard in practice will have done wonders for Egwu.

Meyers Leonard should be pissed off about his role in the offense. He's as talented as any big in America and we get him about 8 shots a game. Also recruit a point guard and this works itself out. The '05 team was loaded. Deron kept everyone happy.

I don't think anyone alleges those teams as tourney teams anymore. They could each play their way in, but given their recent play, and the schedules, they'll all probably fall short. And then Iowa State will be left out in favor of La Salle lasalle's road win at duquense is probably better than any of isu's road wins...[expletive]. You should have had that first game at the Phog too. That would have had you solidly in. yes. kinda blew a home game vs. mizzou too. i think they're in if they beat OU and TT and finish 20-11, 10-8. their rpi is 38 right now, and even losses to k-state, baylor and mizzou wouldn't drop that too much (i wouldn't think). only one team outside the rpi top 40 didn't make it last year, and that was harvard. people thought colorado getting snubbed was a travesty and their rpi was in the mid-60s. I think you are gonna get in.

Just get a coach that will play the right kids in the right style. We aren't gonna win 30 games, but I bet with a decent hire, we are right around 22 wins.

Ok thanks for clarifying on Williams. Thomas hung Weber out to dry on radio, making him a lame duck. Now I agree change is necessary, but every coach wants an AD who will have his back in public. Smart and Thomas worked together at Akron, and I think it is this type of behavior that will turn him away from our job. I think the money, chance to coach in the Big Ten, and being the state school in Chicago(see what I did there?) will make him want the job.

We did really well from '99-'06. i imagine if we could find out what changed and addressed that we could probably do really well again. Oh wait, I think we all found it. You're assuming that the next coach will be definitively better. It seems you haven't considered that it could get worse. I don't see how? Dave Bliss?

Not sure why you would want to run a motion offense and not recruit a true point or more than one shooter for 4 years?

He was probably going to be a HOFer with our old incompetent management. Now that we have people around here who know what they're doing, there's little doubt in my mind. He's very good. I know, but good lord. Those are two guys who are better than "very good."

Except he's recruited maybe two kids who would have ever been thought to be lottery picks while at Illinois. Meyers and Jereme. Which one of those guys is playing in Turkey? which one was a lottery pick? Again, wanna place a wager on Meyers being one?
