I think he's making a huge mistake if he ever plans to leave this was the perfect spot for him. If he's content staying at VCU forever then more power to him. I'm still a fan. He may really want the Wisconsin job at some point. If he comes to Illinois, it will be hard for him to ever take it. Leaving a major conference program to go to a school in the same conference just isn't done (with one Tubby exception). I know, this sucks. Really wanted him. When are we gonna get to feel good about our program again?

Man let me rant, Jesus. I'll never forgive you guys for Weber. And I'm mad you had Kansas beat out and blew it. Deal with it. It may or may not be Shaka but you have the cash and program to get a great coach. You will be fine. I hope its Shaka, but there are a few guys I'd really like. Not gonna get too worked up unless we strike out.

Ah yes, Gail Fischer, truly the Bob Woodward of our time. Yeah, that wouldn't make sense for anyone. He wouldn't even get a chance from the fans because of the Weber/Keady ties. He's got a nice gig at TN with no pressure and an AD with money. If he has success at UT (he's already landed his first 5 star) for a few years he'll be a hot commodity and can pick a better situation. Martin can go blank himself. He could have played for Illinois and didn't think we were good enough, same to you Chris Collins. cuonzo martin spurned illinois due to the ridiculous sanctions placed on us by the ncaa. he wanted to go there. as for collins, richard keene, a mcdonald's all-american, took the scholarship after it was offered to both. don't want martin and he won't want us. I'm aware about our history, thanks.

Haha, did you even read what I wrote? I said it would be a bad fit for both sides. It's kind of strange that you're outraged his name came up because he didn't pick UI as an 18 year old kid 20+ years ago. I'm not outraged, I just don't like him at all as a coach. I read how you said he'd be blanking himself if he took our job, you know the one that's clearly a better job than yours. I'm mad at you guys for the choke job on Sunday tho.

I would be fine with it occasionally, but it should at least be 2/3 or 3/4 at home. No one (at least almost no one) does a true home and home with mid-major's. Ron Guenther did with Western Michigan. Ah Ron Guenther.

To say he failed at the football hire when it's 3 months into the hire and not a single recruit has played nor a game has been played yet is a clear indication that your expectations are significantly out of whack. They offered good money to their #1 football candidate and he turned it down. If they offer good money to Smart and he turns it down, how is that the AD's fault again? It is his job to sell top tier candidates on Illinois. There's more to this than money. No one wants to work for a boss that hangs them out to dry for a month. He did Weber dirty, and the entire coaching community saw it. Like I said earlier any idiot could have fired Zook, Weber and Law, but it takes a good leader, manager, and recruiter to bring in talent. I don't see how Weber was "done dirty". Thomas declined to give him a empty, false endorsement when he didn't deserve one. Frankly, hearing "Bruce is our guy" and then being fired would be worse, imo. Is every coach/manager who is on the hot seat and not given a lame endorsement being done dirty? I liked BAM as a person, but he wasn't wronged. Bruce done dirty, lol. He was in over his head and should have been fired two years ago. Instead he got $3.4 million in contract and a $3.9 million in buyout. Please, someone do me dirty.

Yeah I don't know. He did actually go after the ball. He hit the ball, he fouled him but it wasn't flagrant. The NCAA is run by Roger Goodell I guess. They've really overreacted to the fight earlier this year.
