Corey Maggette, Michael Thompson, Sean Dockery, Shaun Livingston (went to the NBA instead) Wait are you sure on Maggette? Was Collins the lead on him? And Livingston was not a Chicago recruit. Edit: Nope, it was Quin Snyder that, paid Myron Piggie, I mean recruited Corey Maggette.

[expletive] not a Duke assistant. :banghead: it's cute that you think derwood is breaking some news I don't think he is, but have seen the name mentioned a bit. Really don't want that guy. He's recruited some pretty good Chicago talent to Duke. Who besides Jon Scheyer? I mean he probably helped with Sean Dockery and Michael Thompson, but they sucked.

I don't scare off because of the mid major angle. We got Self from a mid major, shaka is at a mid major. But, if it isn't the right guy it isnt the right guy. Look at the success those guys had at mid-majors vs. Groce. (Though Smart was really just last year's tourney run. Take that away and he's really unimpressive. Yeah but look at what they took over vs what he took over. VCU had Grant and Capel before Shaka, and Tulsa has always had pretty good coaches. Groce is building Ohio.

Frank hasn't recruited well there though. Although keeping Jerrance would prevent that from being a problem I guess. helluva lot harder to recruit to Manhatten than it is UI I agree. The CPL would also not be able to use the he hates black people card.

I have some Nebraska fan friends who are really high on him as their next head coach. I think Illinois can and will do better though. I've heard he's a great recruiter. I'm to the point where I say go get anyone who can give you Jabari. Meh, Jabari is only going to be wherever he is for a year, I'm more concerned about a program builder. Although I'd love to have Parker, hiring someone in the hopes they can lure one player isn't the way to run a program. This hire will be successful if the replacement is more successful than Weber, that means we need a decade of 70% winning percentage, 3 Big Ten titles, and a Final Four. Hire a coach that can bring that type of success back, and not a coach that can bring you one player. You get a recruiter that gets Parker and you'll have the ball rolling. Look at the '14 class behind it.

I'm going to have to live HOW CLOSE to that state? Apparently too close to turn down a "top 10" job? :wink: I'm sure they will make a good hire. I wonder whoever choice #2 is will insist on the reported 2.5 million/yr. If true, they might regret putting that number out there. Yeah, that was a pretty dumb press release they issued. I disagree. I think it was strategic. They went hard after a minority coach, the BOTs had complained about us not doing that before. Now they can go after whoever they feel works best.
