  1. Lane Kiffin drunk or being held hostage in this video?
  2. He's crazy. Megalomaniac. Like someone said: Bush - stupid Trump - crazy Cheney - evil fwiw I don't think Bush was stupid in the intellectual sense (I feel that was always overblown by people), I just think he was stupid in the "easily influenced" way in that he allowed himself to be bullied and told what to do.

  4. Good god. Also another story out there about a student trainer who was raped and signed a nondisclosure in exchange for free tuition.
  5. I dislike them for the same reason so many on this board hate the Packers. I will be pulling for them though. Usually whenever an NFC South team wins the NFC their next year is horrible. SEC pride I don't get it
  6. whats wrong with the falcons (besides their horsefeathers uniforms) I dislike them for the same reason so many on this board hate the Packers. I will be pulling for them though. Usually whenever an NFC South team wins the NFC their next year is horrible.
  7. Pats v Falcons. Sweet mother of god. Gross
  8. I think Jonah was sorta saying that there shouldn't be a distinction between "pitchers" and "relief pitchers" regarding career value. Much in the same way that there is no distinction between a position player and a pinch hitter i.e. Matt Stairs was a situational specialist in the same way that Billy Wagner was.
  9. IMB, as a journalist yourself, would you agree that baseball writers are among the most intolerable of all journalists?
  10. Just listened to Jonah Keri on a podcast and I think he made a pretty compelling argument that relief pitchers shouldn't be in the Hall of Fame. I hadn't ever really given it much thought until then. He states that relief pitchers are essentially glorified pinch hitters and are just situational specialists. He goes on to say that you just can't effect the game enough over a career when you pitch 75 innings a year for 10 or 12 pitches at a time with typically the bases empty and a multi-run lead. He states that their overall value as compared to other Hall of Fame members is laughable. He uses the example of whether you would take Manny Ramirez in his prime or Trevor Hoffman in his prime, or even on a lesser note whether you would take Luis Gonzalez in his prime vs. Hoffman. He claims those are both no-brainers if you were a GM. He said the only relief pitcher he would probably put in the Hall of Fame is Rivera because of just how super exceptional he was over 20 years. He said he would apply that same "super exceptional specialist" tag to Edgar Martinez. I'm not convinced but it's definitely got me thinking about it differently. Thoughts?
  11. Not that it means anything other than just being a curiosity, but on BR's HOF Monitor, Tim Raines, with 90 points, is the only player voted in by the BBWAA who is under the "likely HOFer" threshold of 100 since Sutter (79) got voted into the hall in 2006. Sutter only played 12 seasons, so he probably gets a discount in that regard. Before that you have to go back to Tony Perez in 2000 who has a pretty paltry 81 points considering he played 23 years. Before that you've got Hoyt Wilhelm being elected in 1985 with 97 points. Before that you've got Lou Boudreau in 1970 with 89 points. FWIW, the lowest HOF monitor score for any hitter elected by the writers is Rabbit Maranville with just 59 points. The lowest pitcher is Ted Lyons with 65.
  12. I guess writers are punishing Sosa more because he was actually caught with a positive test. Bagwell and Pudge were most certainly juicers too but because they were never caught they are being allowed in. I don't remember Sosa ever being caught positive for 'roids. http://www.espn.com/mlb/news/story?id=4264062

  18. God be with the women and dogs in Alabama tonight
  19. Blast! Smith KEEPS slipping through our grasp! It's gonna happen one day.
  20. Camelot. It was a one season Starz show with Ralph Fiennes and Eva Green in it. It had quite literally the worst casting decision I've ever seen with the guy they cast to play Arthur. Bad actor that didn't look the part at all and had absolutely zero charisma. A textbook example of how critical proper casting can be because it was canceled after one season due to viewers' rejection of that actor. Only binged and finished it because I was sick and couldn't move from bed.
  21. Exactly. That's why Vitters is on there. Excluding Pie and Schwarber, there's a grand total of 26 Cubs hits in that gif.
