  1. That's a very good deal for the Tigers.
  2. I certainly hope not. He's definitely one of the most overrated players of our era.
  3. Wanted to add Ichiro to this list.
  4. Vlad Miggy Cabrera Oswalt Pujols Lance Berkman Soriano Andruw Jones David Wright Carlos Beltran Johan Santana wishful thinking...but Zambrano.
  5. Vlad would easily be mentioned as a future HOF. I don't think there is any doubt. However, for the purpose of this discussion we are talking about players that are practically already there if their careers were to end this year or the next.
  6. Beer...are you drunk or something. You've made 5 polls in as many hours.
  7. lol Love the options.
  8. Bagwell & Thomas are superior to Delgado. I think Thome is certainly the best comparison.
  9. Yes. I think so, given his position. Probably. Not a chance. He's nowhere near the numbers he needs (only 2117 hits & 332 hr), and there's nothing otherwise exceptional about his career. He's got the power numbers, but that's about it. Because there is nothing really exceptional about his career other than the power, I think he'd need to get to 500 to be given a lot of consideration. And even then, it seems likely that HOF voters are going to bump 500 up to 600 or something as THE power milestone, given the current offensive era. He should merit a lot more consideration than he probably will get. I'd vote for him. A 110 WARP3 for a runty outfielder is pretty badass. If Ozzie Smith is in, then Vizquel should be too. Their numbers are literally identical. The offensive era is probably going to hurt Omar though.
  10. It's interesting to look at how good Chipper Jones really is, compared to the other modern HOF 3rd Basemen (I'm including Santo): Player AVG OBP SLG OPS+ AB R H HR RBI WARP3 FLD% Mike Schmidt .267 .380 .527 147 8352 1506 2234 548 1595 157.3 .955 Eddie Mathews .271 .376 .509 143 8537 1509 2315 512 1453 145.0 .956 Ron Santo .277 .362 .464 125 8143 1138 2254 342 1331 119.9 .954 George Brett .305 .369 .487 135 10349 1583 3154 317 1595 135.7 .951 Bro. Robinson .267 .322 .401 104 10654 1232 2848 268 1357 114.9 .971 Chipper Jones .307 .403 .546 143 6898 1296 2117 386 1299 91.5 .954
  11. Helton is going to need several more years of solid production. The "Coors" bias is going to hurt him. So I think he needs to get to one of those statistical milestones like 3000 or 500. His position hurts him too. You better put up some sick nasty numbers if you want to get into the HOF as a 1st baseman. He does have a very good WARP3 after just 10 seasons: 87.2 (4 points higher than "the most feared hitter" Jim Rice).
  12. Regardless of sportswriters loving him, I think he deserves it. His numbers are already better than every other SS in the HOF with the exception of Wagner, Ripken, and Banks (who really only played SS half of his career).
  13. http://img03.picoodle.com/img/img03/4/2/4/f_woodsonownm_3572b01.gif
  14. If their careers were to end right now or within the next 2-3 years, who do you think are the HOFers playing right now? My initial thoughts included: Greg Maddux Chipper Jones Tom Glavine Trevor Hoffman Randy Johnson Manny Ramirez Ken Griffey Jr. Alex Rodriguez Pudge Rodriguez Mike Piazza Pedro Martinez any others? Oh, and let's go ahead and get it out of the way: Kent Merker Adam Dunn
  15. Good deal. He's a great player. Basically put up the same, if not better, numbers as the "faux-NL MVP" of last year did.
  16. So what the heck DO you want us to talk about? Can't talk about Eli being good, because he's not. Can't talk about the Giants D being good, because they were only good last night. Can't talk about Belidick being a dick, because everyone knows this already. Perhaps we should talk about Jeff Feagles?
  17. This game furthered the thought that Brady can get flustered if he starts getting hit. Seems like an obvious thought, but some folks can handle it better than others. I don't think Brady can handle it very well.
  18. clearly, but when you're the laughingstock of the laughingstocks, it doesn't spell good things. You are really reaching here. Keep talking your sports trash on the internet. I'm sorry, there's this dumb feature on here that sometimes only allows me to read posts from fans whose teams have made the playoffs in the last decade. I keep pm'ing Tim to fix it, but he's busy. lolz That is pretty damn funny, even I have to admit.
  19. that sound you hear is the reds signing another reliever that sucks fixed. :rotfl: :rotfl:
  20. Some Ole Miss chant, I think. Correct, it's a cheer/chant that we do. I quit doing it (except at the start of each football game) at about my third or fourth football game my freshman year. It gets real old. It's usually led at the start of each football game by a celebrity. Snoop probably did the best one.
  21. I want to "Ric Flair chest slap" Bill Belichik. WOOOO!!!
  22. He's definitely starting to show his age.
  23. As it should have been.
