Indeed. That may be the most talent rich state in the country and kids growing up in Louisiana are inundated with LSU for their entire lives. Their recruiting ranking the past 10 years: 4, 4, 3, 13, 8, 5, 8, 2, 6, 6. Their last 3 head coaches have all won National titles and 2 of those coaches were morons. I think he'll do well there.

Mullen may be (definitely is) a clown, but he's done nothing but have good or great teams relative to expectations in the SEC for a decade and he gets fired after one bad year. Some college football programs are completely insane. His issue is that he’s not a very dynamic recruiter due to him being awkward as fvck, but he is an elite football mind. And in the college game I think you’d rather have the Jimmy’s and the Joe’s instead of the X’s and O’s, just look at Georgia. Speaking of which, this is why Mullen ultimately isn’t a good fit moving forward due to how Kirby is recruiting at Georgia. Cristobal would be a home run there but the rumor right now is that they are going after Napier, whom I also think would be a great hire for him.

Mullen fired just a year after playing in the SEC Championship game. That team has entirely quit on him.

They are badasses to be sure and are the best defense I’ve seen since the LSU/Bama teams of 2011, but they haven’t exactly played any elite offenses. I still think they win the title fwiw.
