  1. Might be a nice time to hang it up. He will come back as a closer and rack up a 100 saves
  2. I never watch this thing, but I am jonesing pretty bad for some sort of sports. I may watch
  3. 1st favorite was Rick Monday...then in somewhat chronological order Dave Kingman Bill Buckner Leon Durham Ryno Dwight Smith Grace Sosa Wood and Prior Aram Matt Murton Javy and KB Javy, KB and Ryno are easily my top 3 favorites of all time Glad to see a post from Vance!!
  4. I actually thought UNLV should hire him. Mostly because Pitino reminds me of Tarkanian
  5. I have mediacom and doesnt appear to be in HD
  6. No, not at all. Complete opposite actually. They let people play. That delay of game non penalty is how that is (not)called all the time. It drives me nuts every time I see it, but so be it. Hitting 0 on the play clock does not make it delay of game. Its delay of game when it hits zero on the play clock and the back judge blows his whistle. If the play gets off before he blows his whistle it is not a penalty
  7. What happened in the last 2 minutes of the 1st half? I had the game on in the background but wasn't paying much attention. Just really poor clock management while Michigan was driving which forced them to kick a 57 yard FG (which they made amazingly) I would say that I’m still in Harbaughs corner but clearly the lack of success in bigger games (1-9 vs OSU and bowl games, but 4-3 against MSU/ND) needs to change right away. But he’s also stabilized the program to the point where 9-10 wins is the floor (though sadly also the ceiling). Sitting through 3-9 and 5-7 seasons with the previous 2 coaches absolutely sucked. So because of that I’m willing to give him more rope than many. But at some point in the very near future he needs to break through and have a season with a division title with a win over OSU at the very least. He’s been a literal inch away from achieving this in 2016 but obviously close is not good enough. I am not sure who Michigan is getting that would be clearly better...since they struggled getting guys who were a lot worse the last couple of times
  8. They should, he's a terrible human being. Unfortunately that is not why they want to get rid of him....it has more to do with his record the last 3 yrs.
  9. I was happy to see Penn State fight back, but they are now something like 1-10 on the road against ranked teams under Franklin. Their pass defense is horrible, and it showed, giving up a ton of first downs on 3rd and longs. Crazy how similar Harbaugh’s and Franklin’s resumes are since Harbaugh was hired at UM Franklin: 47-17(32-12 in Big Ten) Harbaugh: 46-16 (31-11 in Big Ten - at halftime of IU/UM game) Both teams 1-7 vs ranked teams on the road. Both teams are 2-10 against top 10 teams. Biggest difference is that Penn State has won a conference title. Michigan has had a year where they were an inch short of playing for the title and another where they lost a tiebreaker to make it to Indy. Also Penn State has actually beaten Ohio State. Franklin deserves all the credit in the world for taking over with the program in the shape it was and bringing it back to national prominence really quickly. Just weird how people are frequently calling for Harbaugh to be fired with such a similar resume The people who want Harbaugh fired are nuts....its the same people who couldnt wait to get rid of Lloyd Carr. A lot of MSU fans want to get rid of Dantonio. I think the expectations are way to high in some of these places. I bet Illinois fans regret letting their high expectations run Zook out of town.
  10. I am torn on this. I know we had a couple of years where we flirted with the elite, but I am not sure that is sustainable at MSU in the Big Ten East. What I think is sustainable is a Iowa level of solid to very good almost every year. I think Dantonio is probably as good as anyone at making that happen. That being said there is a lot of garbage outside of the game itself that goes on there that would need to get cleaned up if fans are going to accept that level of competitiveness.
  11. For Illinois, i absolutely is Yeah, thats insane talk. I get that over half of all teams make bowls, but from where Illinois was a month ago, making a bowl game is a major accomplishment
  12. Its quite possible that at the end of the season Clemson will not have played a team in the top 25
  13. If Illinois doesnt go at least 3-2 the rest of the way, beating Wisconsin is rather meaningless if you ask me. I think that is pretty much how all the fans who I work around feel about it.
  14. Michigan Sucks!! Is it just me, but I dont get the Shea Patterson thing? I think this is the biggest statement against Harbaugh, the QB play there has not been good in his tenure
  15. I'll agree with this. The risk of making him change his approach may lead to a Starlin like downfall. Poor guy was never the same after they tried to get him to take more pitches and pull the ball more often. Corey Patterson MLB has a history of very good players who were not patient hitters. I think this is a case where Sabermetrics has made some things more complicated than they should be. Bobby Grich was undervalued because patience was not valued highly as his time. Jim Rice was probably over valued, but Jim Rice was still a very good hitter that added value to his team.
  16. MSU is making it harder to be a fan on a regular basis
  17. I find it really strange in this day and age that the White Sox still haven't figured out that besides being good the next best thing you could probably do to increase interest in your team is to have really good announcers on TV and radio. Not only do they need to be able to pander to the base, but create an appeal to the non base. Probably not going to happen if you just keep saying "We are getting screwed"
  18. What else could it be? Unless its Bryant to the IL, which would really suck
  19. I would probaby vote for him right now...Maybe Lowe. LaStella only has 5 doubles
  20. Caratini has started 3 of the last 4 if my memory is correct. Have I missed something?
  21. To add to your dislike, a gentle reminder that Russell is playing at a ~4 fWAR pace extrapolated to 500 PAs. Descalso will be lucky to get to above replacement level. oh my god my stupid eyes saw the squiggly and thought it was a negative sign, nevermind I will say Fangraphs projects out to a ~2 fWAR for Russell with some regression. We shall see, but regardless, on purely baseball moves, he should be out there over Descalso's corpse I think Descalso is the Cubs genius Idea to get fans to wish Russell would play more
  22. The problem is that he hasn't reduced his asking price in those 10 hours. He probably went higher
  23. I get irritated if someone strikes out with a runner on 3rd with less than 2 outs...but I am nowhere near my dad when it comes to striking out. He somehow thinks its worse than a double play or something
  24. Most people that wear religion on their sleeve are horsefeathers people deep down. I dont know if I believe that. I do believe that there is a sheep mentality that happens a lot. Part of that sheep mentality is that Christians often hide their real issues because life is supposed to be great. Instead of using their spirituality to help them(which usually means some sort of confession), they prop up a false front. I also believe that most Evangelical Christians follow a more Republican doctrine than that of Christ...which seems awful to a lot of none believers who are not quite so right leaning. Basically I dont think they are any worse than most people. They just arent a whole lot better off like most of them think.
  25. He was my favorite player until I started reading Bill James. Then I had an irrational dislike for him, but have come back around.
