  1. They would have to swap first rounders this year and give up at least a first rounder next year, possibly a 2nd rounder also if they made the playoffs. Absolutely not happening. I know this gets brought up a lot...but I watched SC play 6 or 7 times over the last 2 yrs. I didn't get it. I understand the athleticism, I understand all the double or triple teaming, still whenever I watch he was unproductive. So if the Bears move up and draft him should I just not watch to help the cause?
  2. The only way a trade for Kesler would work at the deadline it would have to balance out money wise. That would mean having to include Seabrook, Bickell or Oduya or some combination involving at least 1 of those guys. I doubt the Hawks would be willing to part with Seabrook since their D prospects are still too far away to play his minutes, I don't know if Oduya would accept a trade to Van and I'm not sure how either side would feel about Bickell. Van probably like Bickell but not at his price tag. The Hawks probably don't want to give up on him so quickly. It would take Bickell plus. Truthfully I think the Hawks would be better off not making that deal. I think Bickell is a better fit with the current Hawks than Kesler would be. If Bickell was moved another big body net presence would need to be added also. Vancouver really doesn't need d-man that bad unless they trade Edler.
  3. But Kesler's agent denies the whole thing... Kesler only makes 5 million a yr with two more yrs left. If Vancouver was going to trade him they will get a haul in return.
  4. Very weird. That's what happens when there are no bad teams in conference and no dominant teams in conference. Thanks to MSU's injuries and Northwestern's suddenly figuring out how to play at the start of conference, no team has a game on the schedule they can't win or lose. I think they do have up to 5 teams that could make a deep run in the tourney. Looking at the current top 10 I am not sure that there are any teams in there that would be doing better than Mich in the B1G. I guess if Syracuse is going to win all of their games at the buzzer they would be a 2 loss team.
  5. I find B1G bb to be very weird this year.
  6. With Zetterberg on LTIR the Wings have room to add a good player for the playoff push. I however would be against trading any real prospect they have just to make the playoffs this year
  7. The joys of being ambidextrous. I'm the same way. Write left, throw/bat right. I can swing a racket with either hand. My left is more dominant, but my right has more power. This is all useless information. I golf, shoot pool and hit in softball LH. I was RH hitter in baseball though I did mess around with being a SH. Throw right, write right. I am right handed but not as dominant as most I guess
  8. yeah. I like Izzo a lot as a coach, but he does cross a line sometimes that makes me cringe. I don't think he is the only big time coach that probably gets handled differently by the officials, but I do not ever think its right. No one has earned the right to come on the court during play.
  9. Was it just me or did the Swedish coach look like Brick Top from Snatch?
  10. no kidding. I knew it started at 6 local. Was not a very good game after the 1st period.
  11. Being emotionally invested in something that doesn't have a tangible effect on your life and that you have absolutely no control over is not the least bit rational. It's best not to think about it too much or you'll start to feel really foolish. Of course one could consider being a Cubs fan a lifelong character building exercise, so there's that. I often tell others that I know how to deal with struggles in my life because I am a Cub fan
  12. Canada's d-men are just waaaay better than US's. That was the difference
  13. Yes...but Canada has been the better team so far. Duncan Keith is a super stud...it really shows on this kind of stage more than in the NHL I think
  14. No Red Wings either way:)...except coach. Not hard to root against the coach though
  15. I think Quinns issues would go much deeper than a fall out from putting state money into Wrigley would cause. But you're talking about putting a ton of state money into Wrigley in addition to his other issues while running against a very conservative, cut-everything Republican. I think the cut-everything Republican would be more likely to put state money into Wrigley I think it's a safe bet that neither will be putting money into Wrigley. That being said, I guess there is a slim (very slim) chance that once the election is in the rear-view mirror the governor could decide to contribute something. I think it is unlikely more because of the General Assembly than the Governor
  16. I have heard some chatter about Canada/USA being de facto Gold Medal game. I understand that Canada has the best roster and USA has played the best. Plus Sweden having an easy draw with some injuries. But Sweden and Finland are both really talented teams that play better team hockey than the North American teams. Sweden will be a very tough team to beat. Ok that said...US/Canada cannot get here soon enough. 3 hrs still uuuggghhh

  18. This is just my opinion, but hockey has to have the best announcers of any sport. Dave Strader is better than anyone who does national football and baseball(I dont watch enough BB) and he is just the second guy behind Doc Emerick. There are several great local guys like Pat Foley, also.

  20. That's what I always questioned. I can't believe that anyone seriously thought the city or state was going to help when both of them are broke and have been for quite awhile. You can't believe that a government agency, even if they're broke, would kick in money to a project that would cost them something up front but they stand to benefit from in the millions on an annual basis from? You're right, that's totally crazy talk. I'm sure the mayor (or governor) would love to bankrupt the city (or state) while being booted out of office so that the mayor (or governor) in 20 years can reap the benefits of such a deal. Do you live in Illinois?
  21. I think if I was Canada I would just cycle the puck in the corner. Not sure Latvia could stop it
  22. I dont think it would. Great story for Latvia I guess, but I would much rather see US/Canada than any other game at this point
  23. Latvia's goalie is standing on his head
  24. Yeah I noticed that too. I guess I just figured that playing on home soil would give them a boost. I'm just surprised that a team featuring Ovechkin and Malkin had so much trouble scoring. I don't think they should have played them on the same line. Datsyuk should have played with Ovechkin and Malkin should have centered the 2nd line. That does not change that they did not have very good defensemen and their 3rd/4th lines were consistently outplayed
  25. Honestly after the top 5 or 6 guys who did the Russians really have? I thought they were over-rated going in. This US/Czech game has been fantastic
