  1. I don't think MSU deserves to go to the championship game btw. I am just saying that I do not think Auburn is deserving either. Why is LSU better than ND? Without looking it up I would think that ND has more quality wins. MSU lost to ND when they were still dicking around with Maxwell at QB. Auburn should have lost to a not very good Georgia team. MSU really had no other game that they were close to losing. I know they have not blown teams out but they have usually won handily in games that they were really dominating at the end. And honestly I do not think Auburn is a better team then MSU. I know that may be a homer statement, but I think I am usually rational about this kind of stuff. I think MSU biggest downfall is they played the 3 worst teams in the other B1G division. If they played Wisky or OSU, they could have won and would look a lot better at this point. If they lost, they still would be in almost the exact spot they are right now except a few notches lower in the polls Like I said in my previous post, if it was my vote Alabama would still be number 2. I think MSU/OSU is going to be a great game and I like MSU's chances. If Auburn/Missouri winner plays FSU, I think FSU wins convincingly. If FSU plays OSU, FSU wins convincingly. If FSU plays Alabama...good game that I think favors FSU at this point.
  2. I think the last yr of the BCS may be one of the best examples of how flawed the system is. I feel pretty comfortable saying that FSU and Alabama are the best 2 teams. But that happening at this point is all but impossible. What I find really strange is that voters regularly vote a team that losses to another team with similar records lower. But they will never do it in a circumstance like what happened yesterday. BTW, If MSU beats OSU next week I think MSU deserves to go to the Championship game just as much as Auburn. I do not think there is any great argument against that last statement using the current crappy system
  3. I think a couple of the pre-season favorites not being very good(Michigan,N'western) has given the B1G a bad perception. Iowa, Minnesota and MSU being solid to really good have not given the conference the credit it deserves. If MSU beats OSU and they both go to BCS bowl games I think the overall bowl record will still be a little weak. If OSU wins and MSU, Wisky and Iowa/Minnesota rep the B1G on NYD in Florida, I think B1G could win all three games
  4. MSU takes away the QB run better then anyone and they are committed to power running. I think they have the ingredients to beat OSU. Their biggest weakness on Def is allowing big passing plays, which OSU can accomplish.
  5. I know N'western is not that great, but I am glad we handled them rather easily. I don't think MSU is going to a BCS game unless they beat OSU so it was great to make sure we at least have the shot to face them.
  6. I think PSU, ND and Michigan all can rebound and become National powers again. PSU and Mich have a lot of alumni, fill up their 100,000 seat stadiums religiously, strong national brands and closer to good recruits. Honestly who really are the blue blood programs anymore? Alabama obviously.....then LSU.....then ???. It wouldn't surprise me if in 3 yrs Michigan or ND were knocking on the NT door anymore then the current top 10 programs.
  7. Do they really need a coaching staff shakeup or do they just need to run the offense the OC was hired to run? I am pretty sure he was not hired to run read option/spread stuff. I think Michigans biggest issue on offense is that Gardner is too indecisive. By the time he makes a decision it is usually too late. I would blitz him all day too, until he starts beating me with hot reads and quick run adjustments
  8. Yes. I used to kind of enjoy him in the 80s...I have a hard time even remembering why at this point
  9. if i was given the opportunity to knock twenty dollars off my student loans in exchange for cancelling the university of illinois' football and basketball programs, i would probably try to hold out for forty dollars but eventually take the deal. I went to the MSU/UI game a couple of weeks ago when it was nice weather, homecoming and Illinois was a surprising 3-4 at the time. I am pretty sure there were less then 40,000 at that game. I understand that Illinois has a lot of issues but the fans are not the greatest.
  10. living in the chambana area I have to say I really feel bad for illinois today. holy cow the fans around here are really taking this hard. Kind of funny that I would be more upset about Snyder switching back to Louisville, but around here Alexander is taking most of the heat.
  11. Uh.... Yes? Wasn't Kyle the one who said picks in the top 3 or top 5 are valuable, and the rest of the draft is pretty much a crapshoot? Also this whole idea leaves out player development. It matters little who, when or how a young player was acquired if the organization sucks at developing players. Would Baez be the current player if the old regime was still in charge?
  12. MSU missed both OSU and Wisconsin on the schedule this season. The lose to ND while they were still dicking around with Maxwell is going to hurt. Their big win (michigan) is looking less by the day. If they win out including wins at Nebraska and N'western and home against Minnesota they will be top 10 when they face OSU in the B1G championship game. So I am not worried about their ranking. If they lose along the way their ranking really will not matter because they would have no shot at a BCS game unless they still make it to the B1G championship game and win.
  13. And then Vandy promptly crushes them in the Swamp. Yea this surprised me quite a bit. Last year Florida beat LSU, USC, @ aTm and @ FSU. Not exactly sure how they could be this bad regardless of injuries. This team is still packed with talent. Maybe Muschamp has completely lost them I have no idea. They hung in tough at the georgia game and I figured they would salvage the season and hopefully spare me rooting for the meteor in an FSU - OSU title game or FSU - Bama. I guess Muschamp is gone and with better jobs out there (Texas, USC, and potentially even Michigan) they wont have a shot at Sumlin. I dont think Hoke is in trouble of losing his job, but even if he did I do not think Michigan is a better job than Florida. I was really up on MSU after they demolished Michigan last week. Now after watching Nebraska do basically the same thing at Michigan I have lost a lot of enthusiasm
  14. I think MSU/Wisconsin are probably 3/4 in the Pac 12 and Big 12. Not sure what to make of SEC this season. I know Alabama is an elite team. But after them it is kind of murky. Not sure where MSU would fit in there
  15. It's not just you. This season definitely seems to be somewhat lacking for drama by CFB standards. Plenty of time left for that to change, though. I noticed the NSBB action has been way down this year also. I have wanted to defend MSU at times this year but there really hasn't been any one to defend them to.
  16. I dont even think it is a coin flip...sorry
  17. I am afraid today may be the day that Narduzzi finally gets a head coaching job or a lot more money to dcoordinate at another school edit. If Michigan wasn't going to run, why didnt they have a TE in the backfield to help with the pass rush, would have made a lot more sense
  18. So off topic....what does Ausmus bring? Except for being a MLB catcher for a lot of years and look how well that has worked for the Cardinals. I am not against him, just wondering why some(Kaplan) are so high on him.
  19. I feel super confident about beating big brother this week
  20. So does this jump SC back into the top 5 using past ranking SEC schools logic?
  21. So does Nebraska. And possibly the entire Big 10 I think more than usual there are a few really good teams and a bunch of meh afterwards. B1G has none of those really good teams
  22. mid game line changes used to be rarer. Heck a lot of players went seasons with the same linemates. Scotty Bowman was the first coach I remember who switched up lines a lot
  23. So living in Central Illinois I know one thing about Cardinal fans....They are always telling me they are the best and the smartest fans in baseball.
  24. I think Hoke is a good coach, but he has been awful tonight. Conservative play is killing him
  25. It was amazing until a pointless fight in the 3rd sucked the life out of the game and the arena because they had to cart Parros off the ice. Yeah I flipped away to watch the Hawks but read about it. I'm not an opponent of fighting, but this sort of thing isn't good. I am not anti fighting but I am very against pointless fighting. Too many fights in the NHL are just thugs justifying their existence. I am all for a player who has other uses besides fighting confronting players who are crossing the line of clean play.
