  1. I live right outside of Chambana....there is nothing in that thread that even comes close to things that I hear on a regular basis. Downstate Illinois is almost like the South, just with no Waffle Houses
  2. Same trend as Embid. When this type of reporting happens do the kids every go back? My guess is that someone leaked the info. Stauskas was waiting because he had to tell his great aunt Alice in person. So he tweets no decision made, tells Alice, goes pro
  3. I bet he couldn't have done much worse of a job this season if he wanted to be fired. Seems like everything he did this past year has been terrible.
  4. They all should go pro, unless Kentucky pays better than most people think
  5. I don't know where to put this, so I just figured I would throw it in here. The Cubs are obviously off to a bad start with hitting with runners in scoring position. I guess the White Sox have also had some issues with this the last couple of games, or at least that seems to be the 'why they lost' excuse. I was wondering what is an okay amount for LOBs? I understand that the answer is not 5 or anything that simple. But is there an actual percentage of baserunners that a normal offense should be able to score? I truly understand that the people who focus on this stuff are missing the bigger picture.
  6. yeah what a collapse. They really have a very little chance of making he playoffs at this point. I have never been that big on Phaneuf. I think he is a solid top pair guy, but not a C. Clarkson is funny. I was hoping the Wings would sign him in the off-season. But he got way overpaid and has not been good.
  7. I think Toronto is kind of scary down the stretch. They are not a bad team but somehow lost 8 games in a row in regulation. I would think that they would have to come back to the mean and have won 2 in a row. Jackets still have a game in hand though. Like their chances
  8. Good game and congrats
  9. yeah, same. My Dad used to say 'in the hold' when he would help keep score when I played little league. He said it was the term he and his pals used when they were kids.
  10. I disagree with Kentucky being greater than Wisconsin
  11. Yeah, they are definitely clicking at the right time. Kudos to them and calipari. And as much as I hated watching UK win, it was sorta fun watching michigan on the business end of a last second three this year. Yeah. Understand that from a Kansas fan. I cheer for the B1G in the tourney, so I was hoping for Michigan. I have to admit though after MSU lost, I wasn't in the mood from hearing from Michigan fans if they won. Kentucky actually made as many 3s as Michigan did with several less shots Michigan has done two things excellent all year, winning close games and out shooting their weaknesses in rebounding and defense. Welp, UM got a taste of their own medicine as they finally lost a close game and they lost because of lights out 3 point shooting. Obviously it was a bit heartbreaking but I'm over it already. Great season that exceeded all my expectations after McGary was lost. Was looking forward to Bucky though. Oh well. Who on Michigan is looking to come back? MSU may not even make the tourney next season.
  12. Not sure about that. Michigan was with Kentucky all game. Louisville was close also. Also giving Bo Ryan a week to prepare and I am sure they will give Kentucky all they want and probably more

  14. Why didn't Michigan call time out when they inbounded the ball at halfcourt? Great game. I know they are super talented but you have to give Kentucky credit. They have really improved here late in the season and have beaten 3 really good teams. They have all been close games also and Kentucky has just been better at the end.
  15. I think MSU settled for way too many 3s. The free throw advantage for UConn was large and earned. It is not that MSU is not a good 3 point shooting team, but seriously you have to try to get in the lane sometimes.
  16. It's much less about the end result for me that it is how they got there. In both cases, the officials completely botched the play and potentially affected the outcome of the game by interrupting the flow of play. Other than rooting for my bracket, I had no interest in either outcome, I just want to see refs stop inserting themselves into outcomes when they should keep the whistle in their pocket. As physical as the play has been most of this tournament, they haven't seemed to have a problem doing that except in the last few minutes of games. I understand this. I agree the officiating has been really bad for several yrs now. If that is what people would like to have a discussion about than I fully understand. But pulling out a play here and a play there to somehow justify why team A was lucky and team B was screwed is just bad journalism...especially if you are looking at those plays with a very limited scope. What ends up happening is rule changes are made based on a few plays at 'key' moments in the NCAA tourney partly because of this kind of poor journalism. These rule changes just seem to be muddying the waters more than fixing the perceived problem.
  17. I think this is being said, but it is really hard to win the Cup back to back years. Not only the physical toll that it takes, but similar to baseball, NHL playoffs have a lot of variables that make odd things happen. Best bet is to just be in position to be good in the playoffs every year. For all the talk about how great the Wings were for 20 yrs, they only won 4 Cups. They also lost in the 1st round at least 4 times. I think the Hawks are probably one of 6 or 7 teams with a real legit chance, anyone else it would take a huge amount of breaks happening. I guess I am just saying the Hawks are fine. I like their chances of winning the Cup more than anyone else.
  18. I agree with all of this
  19. So just like everyone seems to be over looking the obvious steal in the Mich/Tenn game, everyone seems to be completely over looking that Johnson missed the shot in last nights game Often facts get in the way of fake controversy
  20. yeah, pretty much they missed a kick ball for [expletive]'s sake Wouldn't it have been a blocking foul if it wasn't a charge? I'm at the game and they didn't show a good replay. IDK. After watching the replay several times I actually kind of like the call better. Tennessee guy did lower his shoulder and try to barge straight into Michigan guy(Morgan?). Did Michigan guy flop, probably. But truth be told every charge call probably involves flopping, I actually would contend charge would hardly ever be called if it wasn't for flopping. I think Levert's steal actually happened before any foul. Either way, I understand why Tennessee fans are upset, but if they were to look at the last 5-6 mins of the game from a subjective view, they would probably feel they were lucky to even have the game that close.
  21. If the foul wasn't called Levert made a clean steal...so it really didnt matter. But it was a bad call. That game may have set the new standard for poor officiating in this tournament, and thats saying something.
  22. I think your chances of beating UConn are good
  23. Almost like their entire conference season
  24. To make Illinois fans happy.
