  1. It's Champaign. It's not the U of I that smells, but the Kraft plant.
  2. the only people who care about this are people who are going to find something to complain about no matter what.
  3. I always thought relationship building was one of his biggest assets as a coach.
  4. Yes. I think Lovie is a great hire for Illinois.
  5. Harbaugh is entertaining. Honestly, I hope that Dantonio can keep MSU chugging along at a good pace. College football would be much more entertaining if both Michigan and Sparty were really good at the same time for a few yrs.
  6. I'm interested to see Kopitar with Hossa on his wing for team rest of Europe. Who will the Russians put with Anisimov and Panarin? Ovie would be a lot of fun. They always put Ovie with Malkin
  7. it's funny that I personally like the Hawks more now than I did when we were division rivals. I enjoy watching them play and usually cheer for them when they play Eastern Conference teams. But in my life the Wings and the Hawks were only both serious cup contenders a few yrs. I have much larger disdain for Colorado and Anaheim than I do the Hawks. I know my feelings are rare among Wings fans
  8. 2 wins any way will do it. I don't know. Wins over Northwester and someone like Penn State in BTT would leave me very nervous. At that point they could be looking at an RPI around 60, SOS in the 70s and a 3-11 record against the RPI top 100. I don't know too many at large teams that get in with 3 top 100 wins. Of course i tend to be annoying pessimistic at times so maybe I'm wrong Seth Davis had them out....right after saying Maryland was possibly the best team in the country
  9. So if everything went well, Illinois would have been mediocre? This would have been totally unacceptable 10 yrs ago. The program has deteriorated to the point that many fans are okay with giving Groce another year because of his bad luck. I am not saying anyone here is calling for g is return. But I hear it a lot in the Champaign area.
  10. I know it's actually the 28th pick, but what are the Sox thinking? They are making moves like a contender, but don't upgrade the OF or team OBP or really defense. Shockingly Fowler would be a rather large upgrade for the Sox for what appears to be a very manageable contract. How are they not making this move?
  11. I wouldn't mind the tie in the NHL if teams weren't playing for the tie in the last 5 mins of regulation. I think there should be a bigger incentive to win. 3 points for a win, 1 for a tie. Of course I think if they keep the current system there should be 3 points for a regulation win, 2 for an OT win, 1 for a SO win. No points for a loss. This would discourage teams from trapping.
  12. Denver won the game because their defense basically scored two touchdowns. Carolina's defense was great but didn't score. Though I think Denver's offense being dreadful had a lot to do with why Carolina's defense was so good.
  13. I was disappointed that they rushed through the White Sox yrs. Him and Peirsall were so amazing for this teenager. How could you have a a Harry documentary and not have "How can a guy from Mexico lose the ball in the sun?"
  14. Next year they should have 12 or 15 skaters per side.
  15. Next year they should have 12 or 15 skaters per side.
  16. Maybe. Everyone thought New England was going to kill Denver too. Denver's D really impressed me today. I knew it was great, but they way they were able to consistently get to Brady was really impressive. I think Carolina is certainly playing extremely well and should definitely be the favorites but I'm not counting Denver out at this point. Comes down to Manning. The Manning that showed today could allow Denver to win. He didn't turn it over and managed the storm. That said, he's a rigid statue these days and Carolina's D is fast. Meanwhile, Cam can move. Both defenses will get pressure. The few times Cam escapes for big gains will probably be the difference. Manning was terrible and was the main reason the game was close. He threw it up for grabs and receivers made plays. He was able to hit a wide open Daniel's twice.
  17. I think OSU would have been a much better match up for Alabama. MSU style played right into Alabama's hand. Then add in a poor punt coverage team, and receivers dropping their limited chances. MSU would have been much better off playing Oklahoma or Clemson. All the games were blow outs. I think that just helps show that bowl games are not a great judge of who the better teams are.
  18. I think Philosophizer's proposal is an extreme penalty. But leaves open the idea that not everything is black and white.
  19. The ejection is too extreme in all cases. I could live with a 15 yd penalty on that play. At the very least, give every player one personal foul without ejecting. there are cases where the ejection makes sense. I think since they review every play, it would be easy to have 3 options.

  21. clearly to two best teams. I didn't like our matchup with Alabama, when they chose to attack MSU weaknesses instead of trying to establish Henry, MSU never had a shot. I hope Saban stays. He sets a high bar and I like him waaay more than Dabo
  22. Defensive lineman hands to the face happens all the time. Only gets called when the lineman holds it there too long. Gets called twice on one drive for next to nothing. That being said, Sabban is a mile ahead of Dantonio....with better athletes.
