  1. ARam could get it done in two days if he hustled.
  2. Gotta be tough for a AAA team with an inferiority complex and from the AL Comedy Central to get their butts beat by a real team.
  3. Never mind. Great comeback Big Phil. Way to go. I never doubted you .
  4. #&*%$%^#%#$ Mickelson. Way to capitalize on you home course.
  5. I don't think that's true. There's a stigma is certain parts of our society, sports probably being one of them. But large sections of this society don't have any such stigma. In my media health class last semester we spent a good portion of the class focused on mental health. Research indicates overall, individuals with mental health issues are perceived much less favorably than "normal" individuals. This applied for the US and at least a few other countries where studies had been conducted. Yeah, but we're talking about going to seek professional help. If anything, our society probably applauds somebody that admits to a problem and seeks to "solve" it. I've probably had about 15 therapy sessions in the last 2 years or so. It really helped me with problems I was having and helped me to cope and deal. There are some people I haven't told because of the aforementioned stigma, but it still helped me greatly. Glad it helped. I assume you are one of many Cubs fans who are (or should be) in therapy.
  6. Mark Prior not pitching this year. In other news, the Sun came up today.
  7. Considering the likes of current and former Cardinals Mark McGwire, Fernando Vina, Troy Glaus, Rick Ankiel, Ron Villone, Ryan Franklin, Juan Gonzalez, etc. and their Leader, The Great Enabler (LaRussa), wanted to sign Barry Bonds, I think it's obvious what has "gotten into" the Cardinals.
  8. We bat all the kids that show up so we don't have any subs. The coach of the other team could have helped a lot by letting us just skip his spot in the order. I was disappointed that he didn't step up and do the right thing given the circumstances. I think he felt that it was better to teach the kid a lesson about commitment to a team than to let him off the hook. I suspect he also didn't want to risk losing the game. Maybe he felt winning a 9 year old Little League game would serve as a springboard into a job managing in the Big Leagues.
  9. Drop it. The kids are nine, have probably (or should have) forgot about it by now and it's friggin Little league for crisakes. These days, Little League is nothing more than a glorified recreational league. If the nine year old kids and their parents are that serious about baseball, they should join a travel team, pay $2K a year, play 60 - 80 games and be coached by Knute Rockne wannabes who are living vicariously through their kids. The fourth greatest lie - "It's all about the kids."
  10. A trade has to be fair for both sides. Something like Deng and Rose for Beasely and Wade.
  11. Never doubted for a second that the Cubs would come back.* *Did doubt it for about 2 hours though.
  12. I would have left, but I'm unemployed and have nothing better to do. I was abusing my self. I gave up hope and left when it was 9 - 1.
  13. Don't you just hate those fair weather fans that give up and leave only to pop back in when things turn around?
  14. Just got an email from Dusty Baker. He recommends pitching Marmol the next 4 innings to keep him sharp.
  15. Soriano just needs to get a pair of grittier sunglasses.
  16. Never said the Giants wouldn't consider trading him but Rios was an all-star in 2007 and the Giants wouldn't bite. Why would the Giants trade (as previously proposed) one of their stud pitcher whose contract they control for six years for two minor leaguers (Pie and Murton), an overpriced bum (Marquis) and a significant downgrade (Marshall)? I don't recall suggesting that they would. The point is, the poster who earlier characterized the notion that Lincecum might be available as "comical" is just flat out wrong. If Lincecum was indeed untouchable, then the discussions with the Blue Jays wouldn't have lasted 60 seconds, and the media would never have gotten wind of any of this. Also, Rios may have made the all-star team in 2007, but I don't know that I'd characterize him as an all-star talent. Robert Fick and Matt Lawton were both all-stars in recent years. A single all-star appearance doesn't necessarily mean much. Rios is a nice 20-25 hr, 80+ RBI, .350 OBP outfielder at his best, but most certainly not even close to being worth a premium young arm like Lincecum. Neither are Pie, Marquis, Murton and Marshall.

  18. Agree, especially for what is being proposed. Maybe not for what has been proposed, but the Giants already put word around the league in the offseason that they would entertain trading him for a bat. The fact that some people around here think it's comical other people think he could be traded just says that you're not paying attention in the off season. I was paying attention. Were you? http://blogs.nypost.com/sports/wm/archives/2007/12/payroll_concern.html
  19. How about Hinrich and Deng? http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/24099667/
  20. Cain and Lincecum are 23 and making $950K and $405K. Don't see the Giants pulling the trigger on that one. I heard on XM the other day that McGowan (sp?) was stepping down. Maybe that leads to some changes in the front office that make them want to cash in one of those guys for a bunch of ML ready talent. Pie, Murton, Marquis and Marshall plus someone like Veal might be pretty tempting. Admittedly, they might have to put Hill in there instead of Marshall but that would still be OK. Lincecum is 23, making $450K, is 5 - 1 with a 1.92 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. The Giants will try to build around him. They are not going to trade him for unproven prospects and a guy with a ERA close to 5 and and a $7 million dollar salary. Also, they have Aaron Rowand in centerfield and given Pie's recent MLB audition, why would they want him?
