The NFC is pretty bad this year. The NFC East is bad this year. The NFC contenders are right there with the AFC contenders, going by efficiency at FootballOutsiders. 3 of the top 5 are NFC (SEA,TB,LAR), and the top 10 (NO/GB) and top 12 (MIN) and top 14 (CAR) are evenly split. The AFC is pretty heavily split between the good teams (BAL/KC/PIT/IND/TEN) and the really bad teams (NYJ/CIN/DEN/JAX) Pittsburgh, KC and Baltimore seem a level above everyone else. Steelers at Ravens in two weeks is going to be epic.

The Bucs are not only good, I'll go out on a limb and say that will be the best team the Bears will end up having played this year. I could see them finishing 12-4 this season. Yeah, they’re legit as long as Brady’s arm doesn’t fall off. Not crazy about Ronald Jones as a top tier RB, but those receivers and that D put them up there.

Of course Aaron Rodgers has his worst day against the Bucs. That Tampa D is pretty tough, though.

If you’re ATL, do you trade that pick? Matt Ryan is ok and they need a lot of help. Yes. You trade Matt Ryan, eat whatever money you have to and have a (likely still pretty good) QB on a 4-year rookie deal with the best offensive weapons in the league. Then get help on D and the OL. I tend to agree. Guys like Lawrence don’t come around very often. Hopefully he ends up on the Jets or in Washington and not in the NFC South.

You said it. Much like Kiffin at Ole Miss, Pittman has completely changed the culture of that program overnight. Despite the fact that the Hawgs seem to always beat Ole Miss in horrid ways (I’m looking at you 7 OT game in 2002 and 4th and 25 in 2015), I’ve legitimately felt bad for Arkansas fans the past few years. Just horrid. So I’m happy for my friends who are fans. As far as the game goes, it’ll be a track meet. Ole Miss literally has no defense. They may as well not even be out there. Ball control is the key. Not just Hogs running game, screens, TE slants, etc. They’re decent to pretty good on defense.

Thank god. It was pretty brutal watching them the past couple years. One of the worst prepared teams I’ve ever seen. Week after week they couldn’t even run something as basic as a punt correctly.

What's crazy is that the only real difference between Kershaw's career numbers and postseason numbers is his HR rate, which is double. I remember reading a few years back that for a pitcher of his caliber Kershaw throws a shocking number of pitches right down the middle. Yet for whatever reason hitters don't do much damage. I wonder if with the more extensive prep and gameplanning for playoff games hitters are more properly cranking those pitches. Extra prep and game planning wouldn’t seem to apply to these playoffs anyway.

I can't believe this hasn't already happened. The NFL has been putting pressure on our mayor for over a month. The Saints have played in Tiger Stadium before, after Katrina in 2005. If that were to happen, she's toast, as if she's not already.

I’m curious about the Michael Thomas “fight”. Smells like BS to me. Local radio had a segment yesterday where they said that MT did this all the time at Ohio State (not throw punches, but be a giant crap-talking douche in practice) Just listening to a first hand account. Apparently, MT and CJGJ got into it last season around week 3. Last week, they started jawing at each other and Thomas basically sucker punched him when he was looking the other way. Good on Payton for immediately suspending him. He was healthy enough to start last night.

He was a great change of pace for the last two seasons, but maybe one good gain this year. I always knew that Drew was going to slip, but I never expected it to be field vision and awareness. He’s ready to check down every single play call.
