  1. There are idiots everywhere, but I really think youll be fine. Everyone's happy on opening day.
  2. They're cut-blocking cheap-shot artists, their former CB ran his mouth off to Steve Smith all the time, their former dog-murdering QB had magical powers against my team to the point where he literally levitated 5 yards across the goal line for a game-winning TD that kept us out of the playoffs in 2004, and on top of that Delhomme got his season-ending injury against them last year. Apart from that, they're alright. Yep, you said it all right there. From Neon Deion to DeAngelo Hall, the birds have always been a "me first" group of individuals. The whole "Free Mike Vick" t-shirt thing on MNF didn't surprise me in the least. They run a good coach out of town in Mora Jr, and they hang dogs or support people who hang dogs. My least favorite Saint ever Joe Horn fits right in with them. Everytime the birds play in the Superdome, their fan base of 25 people arrive and act like trash. All my bartender friends in the Quarter hate ATL weekends. MC Hammer did a video featuring the birds, and they adopted that horrible "2 Legit to Quit" thing. The Cajun Cannon Bobby Hebert left us to go to there, as did Morten Anderson. They can't even sell out Braves playoff games, and the only reason they come close are opposing fans like us. You go out in ATL on a Tuesday night and everyone's dressed like they're about to go to an LA club. The cheesyness oozes out of that city. But I did date a girl from Athens awhile back. She was cool.
  3. I am guessing you are a Panthers fan. What's the deal at QB with you guys? Is everyone solidly behind Jake, or has everyone soured on him? Also, don't look now, but Tampa is having a really nice offseason. They may overtake Atlanta for my most hated team. Then again, no one sucks worse than the dirty birds.
  4. For the other ONE Saints fan on here, reports are that Jonathan Vilma, Dan Morgan, Bobby McCray and Randall Gay are really looking healthy and ready to go for spring, and Robert Meachum looks alot quicker than last fall. Hopefully we can address more depth at linebacker in the draft. Crazy, but we might have a good defense! Good Saints Defense=trouble for the NFC. Apparantly the Saints are really worried about Deuce ever being who he was and may get a power back somewhere in the draft. Personally, I am a big fan of Pierre Thomas. Any Illini fans see him before his leg injury? He's got power for his size.

  6. Um, no, sorry. Skin color has nothing to do with it. No, really, it doesn't.
  7. I respect that. I never said Cedeno has proven he can't hit eventually. But at the MLB level, Theriot has hit better to this point. Again, I am NOT sold on him. But back to the question posed atop this thread, I think he has shown enough with the Cubs in his first season in the Majors to see if he can hit consistently and not just be a player who got on a hot streak. I hope he can be solid. If he fails, I am all for Cedeno, EPatt, or someone not here yet to take over. I just dislike the school of thought that he WILL fail, no doubt about it. This is no more certain than I am that he will be solid. I want to see how he does this year.
  8. That's possible and it's also possible that Theriot will work on his weaknesses and limit the holes. I agree on both points being plausible. He's had just one full season right? I am REALLY glad someone started this thread. I am not solidly behind Theriot either, but I do think he could be quite adequate. I never have understood the vitriol directed at him. I get both sides of this arguement, but Theriot has to this point been a better hitter than Cedeno, who really hasn't shown me much with alot of opportunities. Tons of potential has gone unrealized in this league, and tons of players playing over there heads have had nice careers. I am willing to see if Theriot, who for his shortcomings is a smart player, can become more consistent over the long haul. All that said I am a big fan of EPatt!
  9. Tommy John probably doesn't feel the same way about Eyre. OK, that's pretty funny!
  10. Speaking of bad calls...and for that matter speaking of reasons why everyone hates Duke except Duke, they called this play legal against Belmont: http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u233/terpbe2/paulusanim.gif?t=1206133417

The Cardinals look terrible! They had better hope Pujols stays healthy. And not even to mention their pitching...
  12. I've seen a ton of Arkansas games this year. They are as talented as anyone around, but they have a new coach and new system this year and are just now starting to figure it out. They have a DEEP bench, and especially talented inside. Hill at 7' is Mr. Defense, second in blocked shots in SEC history behind Shaq. Townes is almost automatic in the post. Thomas has a double/double in him at any time. Someone on their frontcourt will get you around 20pts/10rb every game, but their leading rebounder is 6' 1" Beverly at guard, who is the heart of the team. Their point guard, Ervin, has been suspect all year. That said, if Weems at SF looks to be hot early, look out. When he is on he is unstoppable, when he is off he just looks bored out there. Their inside game is always there, but they go as their guards go. Hope that helps a little. They sound like a team that could beat a lot of good teams and then lose to a bad one. Hit the nail on the proverbial head. See win over Tennesee, two losses to Georgia. Although, Georgia is not as bad as one would think by their record. They were in total disaray after kicking two starters off their team, but they have some talent.

  14. Not suitable for work.
  15. Winner winner, chicken dinner! This is not a bad lineup. Hell, why do we say "trade for Roberts or get off the pot"? The hype around the Roberts trade is hyped by people RIGHT HERE on this message board or by beat writers trying to make the spring more interesting for guys like us. I am cool with the above lineup, see how it plays, then make a move by the end of July. What if Gallagher looks to be a stud? What if Pie figures it out? What if Theriot is the Bo Hart of a few years back? No one really knows. Don't overpay for Roberts, let this play out a little, see what our needs are. Will we really fall out of the Central race by midsummmer? We do play in the National League. A collective chill out, please.
  16. Think it is time to post this link again....this is why I love message boards! http://www.thephatphree.com/features.asp?StoryID=4104&SectionID=15
  17. I like Mussberger and Herbstreit. He's not bias against my school, but then again, he never does LSU games. We always get Vern Lunquist on CBS (also known as the SEC Network), who is pretty freakin' good I think. I do hate Bama, but it is fun hearing Kenny Stabler on the radio.
  18. He legally could since there is no flight risk, but it would be impractical. This per ESPN, which is ALWAYS rock solid.
  19. Is anyone else absolutely amazed Augie still has a job? I do remember the season when we could hear chants of Augie coming down onto the field. Man, we had to have sucked then!
  20. I think it was skinny Mike of Mike and Mike In the Morning. At least that was who I saw say it on ESPN. It was Buster Onley. I saw it on ESPNews. Sadly, IMHO, the Reds will be much improved.
  21. Anybody else like me picturing a rookie reporter from the Sun sitting in his car outside Bedards house all day eating donuts waiting to see if he leaves the house... That's actually Omar THAT IS FUNNY! Hopefully Marlo is waiting for him.
  22. Anyone tell me a good inexpensive place to eat dowtown? I am really confident that Sean Peyton will have the Saints ready, whatever the weather...but I am really nervous about this game. When you are a longtime Saints fan, it's easy to be a little pessimistic. Geaux Saints
  23. So then a question...If the Cards won the Central last year with a mediocre pitching staff but a killer lineup, is the gap really that huge to overcome? I realize STL won the WS, but they did get hot at the right time.
  24. Dude..it's from 1929! Dolby surround sound was not available. Can you please re-size your avatar? It's way too big. I'll try. I am not the most computer literate.
