Illinois-Rutgers is run, but switch over to Baylor-OSU for a bit, tied at 72 with 2 minutes to play.
-
I think Illinois remembers the loss to Rutgers earlier in the year.
-
Nebraska played 13 games in 24 days. They've done enough.

Maybe Kansas won't make the NCAA tournament after all:
-
Or Penn State. Or Indiana. Or Northwestern.

From bad to worse, the ACC tournament in danger of getting cancelled: [tweet] [/tweet]
-
On the topic of the ACC, this could be the first year ever (since they started seeding in 1978) that no ACC team gets a top 4 seed.
-
On a lesser note, North Carolina A&T is out of the MEAC tournament due to COVID issues, and they have suspended basketball operations for two weeks and thus their season is over.
-
Virginia has a COVID positive test and is out of the ACC tournament, status yet unknown for NCAAs.

Really? The MSU SPRM? Yikes.

They're still in but they will be sweating out a first four appearance at least a little bit. I was 100% expecting Michigan-Michigan State Part 3 tomorrow I was fully expecting Maryland to blow them out as they did 2 weeks ago. MSU has trouble winning without officiating favoritism this year, as they don't have the offensive talent to create shots, nor the defensive talent to prevent shots when not fouling. Their 3 best wins of the year all came in Breslin, and 2 of them when they were able to remove one of the opponent's best players from the game, literally.
-
Top seed Toledo hangs on in overtime in the MAC quarters and will move on to face the Akron-Ohio winner in the semis. At some point today I'll list the at-large bids and favorites from single-bid conferences to rank.
-
Maryland beats Michigan State 68-57, leaving MSU's best win away from Breslin as....Indiana? Duke?
-
Oklahoma State beats West Virginia 72-69, with WVU actually hitting a tying 3, but just after the buzzer.
-
It looks like Duke's season is over:
-
All 12 teams left in the B1G tournament are in the top 60 in KenPom, which seems crazy to me. If Wisconsin, Ohio State, Rutgers and Maryland win today, the 8 quarterfinal teams would likely be in the top 30.

Houston has only played 6 games this year within 10 points, and they're 3-3 in those games. They've been bulldozing the American conference this year (actually finished a full game up on Wichita State in the conference standings by games played, but lost out on winning percentage due to Wichita playing 5 fewer games). They're a good team with a less good profile, which is why on strength of record and wins above bubble metrics they're closer to a 5-6 seed, while in NET and KP they're closer to a 2 seed. I suspect they'll fall somewhere in the middle, but they're good enough for a 3 seed to me.

Next step: Next 10 of teams not in S-curve:

Yeah, the official all defense team was baffling. At least Frazier made it. Ayo as POY...it's tough, because Ayo had a completely bonkers year in a conference where Garza had an even more bonkers year offensively (how often does the highest usage player in the conference also take the most shots and have the highest offensive efficiency? Just crazy), so Garza is going to win those awards, but it ended up more interesting than it was anticipated to be at the start of the year.

Well...here we go. [tweet] [/tweet]

The numbers do not suggest they should be out of the tournament, not even close. You're right, saw a video of Gard whining about the officiating in his post game interview found it quit ironic and entertaining. Although, I will agree Wisconsin got screwed by some bad calls, not the hook and hold by Davison but, on an out of bounds call late in the game. The phantom 5th foul call on Trice was awful, and the out of bounds call was dicey. The hook and hold on Davison was overdue if anything.

Automatic bids from the weekend: Liberty - A-Sun Winthrop - Big South Loyola-Chicago - MVC Morehead State - Ohio Valley Tonight's winners of auto bids: Southern - UNC Greensboro Sun Bent - Appalachian State Appalachian State won as the 4 seed, putting them in prime position for a 16 matched up with Michigan, so they can win on a 3 at the buzzer.
