  1. I did post that earlier in the thread, but yeah, how far has BA fallen in importance that basically nobody even noticed how close to the leaders Almora has been?
  2. And still somehow arguably the Cubs worst regular hitter.
  3. okay, but of the guys in the pen that need to be shot to the moon right now, he isn't near the top of the list. I agree he’s fine for now but I don’t want him around long. He has a career era/FIP/xfip in the 4s, he’s 30, he doesn’t strike anyone else and relies on contact but it is nice he doesn’t walk anyone and he’s whatever. Just want to have another better option out there even when we are at full strength. He's a reliever, a career FIP in the 4s is not out of the norm. As stopgap relievers go, there's no need to be in a hurry to dump him. There is no team in baseball with an entire roster of Kenley Jansens.
  4. Bases loaded, one out against a pitcher who doesn't miss bats. David Bote and Ian Happ, challenge accepted.
  5. Low key rooting for a Happ double so PH Schwarber can be IBB'd twice in the inning.
  6. At least this stretch will alleviate some of the hand wringing about the offense for a couple hours.
  7. Hildenberger threw a total of 24 pitches to 9 batters, walking 4 and getting 1 out.
  8. This game. This is the 20 run game, because it might take that many to win it.
  9. Javy gonna Javy. Hildenberger has thrown 12 pitches to 7 batters and has 3 walks.
  10. Somehow OK with somehow not working. That was more of a Hey-bail than a Heyride.
  11. Almora now leads the NL in batting average.
  12. Fox hasn't cared from the outset, and the better team won both games today, so it'll be a better matchup as well.
  13. Update, yesterday's game shuffled everyone again and raised up the lowest 2 (Heyward and Russell), so now everyone is between .330 (Rizzo) and .369 (Bryant). However, everyone is so close that every solid game will jumble the order.
  14. Encouraging offensive stat: Every Cub with over 110 PA has an above-league-position-player-average wOBA (league average for non pitchers is .318). All 10 of Bryant, Baez, Schwarber, Zobrist, Almora, Contreras, Happ, Rizzo, Heyward and Russell are between .327 and .369.
  15. Korea gets another, and Germany finishes last in the group.
  16. Wow, goal South Korea.
  17. Not exactly what I meant by pulling one back, Mexico.
  18. If Mexico pulls one back then Germany will need 2 goals to advance.
  19. Mexico unraveling.
  20. Sweden goal, now things should get exciting in both games.
  21. you were saying? Do you ever know what you post about?
  22. So there's an interesting scenario in play in the Group G finale between Belgium/England. If Brazil wins their group and Germany finishes 2nd in theirs, the winner of group G would play a Brazil/Germany winner in the quarters, whereas the runner up of group G would play a potentially more desirable Mexico/Switzerland winner. However, Belgium and England are tied on points, goals scored and goal differential, so if they draw their game, the winner of the group would be the team with fewer yellow cards, which potentially gives an incentive for both teams to try to out-yellow the other to finish runner up if the game is tied late (currently Belgium has 3 yellows and England 2).
  23. So this is what CONCACAFing looks like when the refs actually call things.
  24. What number of dubious looking contracts? Is the number 1?
