LAFC to the CCL final after getting super CONCACAF'd and still scoring 3 goals in the 2nd half against Club America to win 3-1. Not playing the CCL during MLS preseason probably makes a difference, but that's 3 Mexican clubs LAFC has eliminated thus far in CCL in Leon, Cruz Azul and Club America. Tigres v LAFC in the final. First time an MLS team has defeated 3 Mexican teams in CCL, and first US team in the final since Real Salt Lake over a decade ago.

Keep in mind LA county is by far the largest county in the US, so those numbers on their own don't actually mean all that much. That said, nobody should be gathering for any reason until the vaccine is widespread, and taking a hard line stance to be careless isn't a good look.

The Spiders were a different team altogether. They were an NL team. The Cleveland AL team was only ever: Naps Broncos Lake Shores Bluebirds Rustlers I know they were a different team, but they're also a totally defunct franchise. So they can surely get their hands on those trademarks I'd think. I'm not sure how you would even market a franchise these days based on a team of "Spider" men.

CONCACAF has updated the World Cup qualifying plan for 2022, and instead of a 6 team hex final round, it'll instead include an 8 team double round robin, including the 5 top rated teams in CONCACAF (Mexico, USA, Costa Rica, Honduras, Jamaica) along with 3 playoff winners among 6 5-team first round groups. Here are the first round groups: - Group A: El Salvador, Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, Montserrat, US Virgin Islands - Group B: Canada, Suriname, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Aruba - Group C: Curacao, Guatemala, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Cuba, British Virgin Islands - Group D: Panama, Dominican Republic, Barbados, Dominica, Anguilla - Group E: Haiti, Nicaragua, Belize, St Lucia, Turks and Caicos - Group F: Trinidad and Tobago, St Kitts and Nevis, Guyana, Puerto Rico, Bahamas The USMNT qualifying schedule will be as follows: So that first game will be a projected road match against the winner of the Group A/F playoff, which could very well be T&T.

Technically the 6th ranked team in CONCACAF, ahead of Panama, Canada and T&T. They did not look good at all yesterday, however, against the US B/C team.

my first instinct would have been to think it was longer, but i also wouldn't know the exact year harry started with the cubs without looking it up. Harry started for the Cubs in 1982 and worked until he passed away after the 1997 season. Len started in 2005 and went through the 2020 season.

Indiana looking good in the Maui Invitational against Providence early on. The B1G is stacked this year. 11 tourney worthy teams (all in KP top 37 right now), but with the lack of early games, it'll be tough to get them all into the tournament. New AP poll has 3 B1G in the top 5 (Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois) with MSU in the top 10.

Until today, the Illini record for points in a debut and points as a freshman was 22 by Brandon Paul. Miller had 19 in the first half.

USMNT playing Panama in Austria this afternoon, and after conceding an early free header, Yunus Musah took a free kick that Gio Reyna buried and they quickly tied it. And while I was typing that, the USMNT scored two more goals and it's quickly 3-1 very early in the match.

On Reddit they were discussing how if there was to be a “random” COVID outbreak to prevent this game from being played and both teams won out, IU would hold the tiebreaker due to the record of out of division opponents and go to Indy. :D If Northwestern beats Purdue today, they could have a random COVID outbreak to cancel their game with Wisconsin, making Wisconsin ineligible for the Big Ten title game, then would finish their season with games against Minnesota, MSU and Illinois.

It could very well be the case that 8th in the Big Ten is 25th overall this season. Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, MSU, Ohio State, Rutgers, Michigan, Indiana, Purdue, Maryland all should be good this year. Minnesota/PSU probably a step below (and maybe more than a step for PSU following the coach leaving), NW/Nebraska could be ugly again.

Since it's looking like there's definitely going to be at least some semblance of a season this year, it's time to start discussion on it. There are some caveats: - The Ivy league has yet to announce it will play any games this year, the only conference thus far to not even lay out a potential schedule. - The Patriot league has announced that it will play no non-conference games and will not board any planes to fly to games this year. Instead they will split the 10-team conference into regional matchups that will be played 4 times each, followed by additional games late in the year against the rest of the conference as conditions hope to get better. As a result, right now, Boston University and Holy Cross are scheduled to play each other 6 times. Wisconsin QB Graham Mertz tested positive for COVID on Sunday, which I'd be concerned about for the Illini, but fortunately I don't think any Illinois players got within 6 feet of him all game.
