  1. I'm a little surprised Ernie Banks isn't on that list.
  2. Geez, even guys like Phil Cavaretta spent a year with another team (was going to suggest him for OF since he played some there, but he played a year with the WSox). So...an outfield of Murton, Pie and Eric Patterson/Micah Hoffpaiur...?
  3. What? No Kerry Wood? :)
  4. I'm definitely of the mindset that almost anyone can be a good RB if the line can block correctly and well. So, Forte's (and the rest of the running game) success will depend more on the line than it will on the backs themselves.
  5. Here's a question we've been pondering here at work today: Assuming Pete Rose were HOF eligible, would he even be the best player not in the Hall? It may seem absurd to think Santo was actually better than Rose (who absolutely has Santo beat on longevity, for better or worse), but statistically Santo actually has an edge in non-counting stats. Although, I'm the kind of person that thinks Rose is one of the most overrated players in baseball history, a glorified slap-hitter over the last 15 years of his career with a good eye.
  6. Ronny's been late a lot on fastballs lately.
  7. Just need to keep being patient. Even without Soriano, Ramirez and Theriot, the gap between lineups is large enough where they should be able to break through at some point. As long as Marquis doesn't blow things up, they are still in good shape.
  8. That strikeout call finally gives Marquis more strikes thrown than balls.
  9. Yeah I'm sure he's up for 4-5 innings here since he only pitched 7+ innings 2 days ago.
  10. Did he take a bad route to the ball or take it easy on the way to the ball and just misjudged it? We only got one replay at the stadium and it wasn't a good one. A little of both. He actually started in on the ball and circled around back gingerly before realizing he had to pick up speed to get there, and couldn't make it in time.
  11. When anyone asks for an example of Edmonds making a play look harder than it was, point to that play right there.
  12. So, arguably the best player in the draft grew up in the area, is dying to play for the Bulls, has a great attitude and work ethic, and the Bulls should trade the pick for Zach Randolph? That makes perfect sense.
  13. You bumped a thread that's been gone for over a month, so whether it's enough or not is irrelevant, right? I just figured it'd be much easier to say something optimistic today than it was at the time of the signing, really. Thought it'd be a little funny, too. Apparently, though, there are some who are hell-bent on hating Edmonds rain or shine, and feel like they have to go pee in everyone else's cheerios.
  14. because the american commentators are awful in comparison Because the available Americans either don't know anything about soccer or don't know anything about commentating (or both!)
  15. I appreciate the 6 HRs to this point.
  16. I don't remember what I posted in this thread, but I did start a whole thread on Edmonds positivity. Does that count enough to gloat?
  17. When did this happen? I know he struggled for awhile, but has since started pitching better and been promoted to AAA. Don't put much faith in LLF's "scouting reports". The Shark pitched pretty well tonight in his AAA debut. He's nowhere near falling out of the picture.
  18. Some of us are idealistic fools that think every poster is capable of having an open mind towards objectivity.
  19. Like, oh, I dunno, last Friday and Saturday. How was Saturday a clutch hit? It was the 4th inning. What's your definition of clutch? It was a one-run game in the 4th inning, and he drove in a run, kept the inning alive for Ramirez's HR that put the game out of reach. Clutch=8th or 9th inning. Lee sucked all game. He grounded into 1 double play and nearly grounded into 2 others. Quit being an ignorant troll. Lee's been on fire the last 2 weeks solid, homered to bring the Cubs within 1 on Friday's game, and is hitting .291/.390/.511 in high leverage situations on the year.

  22. He saw what Sherill did to Fukudome, generally the best lefty hitter the Cubs have.
  23. A pitcher with control problems, and 3 guys in a row go up hacking. Not the way to get it done.
  24. More than none. Let's see how the Cubs do with it. The Orioles are likely giving up 1 run to get 2 outs.
  25. Been a while since Cedeno hit a grand slam.
