  1. Yeah I'm sure he's up for 4-5 innings here since he only pitched 7+ innings 2 days ago.
  2. Did he take a bad route to the ball or take it easy on the way to the ball and just misjudged it? We only got one replay at the stadium and it wasn't a good one. A little of both. He actually started in on the ball and circled around back gingerly before realizing he had to pick up speed to get there, and couldn't make it in time.
  3. When anyone asks for an example of Edmonds making a play look harder than it was, point to that play right there.
  4. So, arguably the best player in the draft grew up in the area, is dying to play for the Bulls, has a great attitude and work ethic, and the Bulls should trade the pick for Zach Randolph? That makes perfect sense.
  5. You bumped a thread that's been gone for over a month, so whether it's enough or not is irrelevant, right? I just figured it'd be much easier to say something optimistic today than it was at the time of the signing, really. Thought it'd be a little funny, too. Apparently, though, there are some who are hell-bent on hating Edmonds rain or shine, and feel like they have to go pee in everyone else's cheerios.
  6. because the american commentators are awful in comparison Because the available Americans either don't know anything about soccer or don't know anything about commentating (or both!)
  7. I appreciate the 6 HRs to this point.
  8. I don't remember what I posted in this thread, but I did start a whole thread on Edmonds positivity. Does that count enough to gloat?
  9. When did this happen? I know he struggled for awhile, but has since started pitching better and been promoted to AAA. Don't put much faith in LLF's "scouting reports". The Shark pitched pretty well tonight in his AAA debut. He's nowhere near falling out of the picture.
  10. Some of us are idealistic fools that think every poster is capable of having an open mind towards objectivity.
  11. Like, oh, I dunno, last Friday and Saturday. How was Saturday a clutch hit? It was the 4th inning. What's your definition of clutch? It was a one-run game in the 4th inning, and he drove in a run, kept the inning alive for Ramirez's HR that put the game out of reach. Clutch=8th or 9th inning. Lee sucked all game. He grounded into 1 double play and nearly grounded into 2 others. Quit being an ignorant troll. Lee's been on fire the last 2 weeks solid, homered to bring the Cubs within 1 on Friday's game, and is hitting .291/.390/.511 in high leverage situations on the year.

  14. He saw what Sherill did to Fukudome, generally the best lefty hitter the Cubs have.
  15. A pitcher with control problems, and 3 guys in a row go up hacking. Not the way to get it done.
  16. More than none. Let's see how the Cubs do with it. The Orioles are likely giving up 1 run to get 2 outs.
  17. Been a while since Cedeno hit a grand slam.
  18. Sherill doesn't give up many hits, but he will walk batters on occasion.
  19. I sitll think baseball will be using the standard wins and losses this year again though. Hopefully they will play back to their record, but we are really getting tested with fluky performances from other teams within the division this year. Which is good, something to keep the Cubs motivated throughout the entire year would be better for them in the long run, really. What a difference a year makes, though. Last year at this time, the Brewers were 44-32, 2 games better than this year. At that time, though, they had a 7.5 game lead in the division.
  20. I think the real myth is that ending the All Star game in a tie was somehow a travesty that needed to be avoided at all costs.
  21. Actually, 3 above Pythag is the second largest difference in the majors, behind the Angels, so...actually, they are lucky. Adjusted Standings
  22. Maybe he just didn't know that it's possible for some baseball teams to have fans that live more than 10 miles away from the park.
  23. All that really confirms is what we all really knew to be true: The NL West really blows.
  24. To play off that, I forget what it was, but I think either just before the TOR series, in the TOR series, or TB series; the string was snapped, of 20-some straight games that the Cubs had a lead in - or Len kept reminding us (not that I minded being kept in the know of such a stat). That streak was broken June 4 against the Pads, a 2-1 loss.
  25. Last year in the NL, the high water mark for any team was 21 games over .500, with the Mets (83-62) and Diamondbacks (88-67) both hitting that mark for a day before hitting losing streaks (Mets lost 12 of 17 to end the year, D-backs lost 5 of 7 to end the year)
