  1. I'm thinking blowout tonight, as the Bucks play better offensively.
  2. UCL did abolish the away goals advancement for this season, so Chelsea would tie it up even at 0-2.
  3. They should retaliate by hitting the Brewers' best hitter. Based on the first two games here, it looks like that is still Ryan Braun.
  4. Why waste player ejections on the Brewers? The Cubs are about to be 2-0 against them. Wins matter more.
  5. They're up 7 runs, Steele was under 70 pitches, and 7-8-9 is due up, I think we can be okay with him going out there It's just an unnecessary risk to a guy who hasn't pitched much this spring. It worked out, but it's early to be stretching guys out. Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk On the contrary, I think taking the opportunity to stretch a guy out in a low stress situation is ideal, particularly when a guy hasn't thrown a ton in the spring and is going to need to provide innings through the year. EDIT: And we're talking 77 pitches here, not like he's throwing 120.
  6. They're up 7 runs, Steele was under 70 pitches, and 7-8-9 is due up, I think we can be okay with him going out there Typical Ross, letting his starter throw 77 pitches with a 7 run lead and a shutout going in the 5th
  7. Is this the first game played at Wrigley with a DH? EDIT: I forgot the short season.
  8. Lakers lose their 5th straight game, 2nd to the Pels, and fall a game back of 10th. Meanwhile, the top 2 articles on ESPN NBA coverage are about the Lakers "tumultuous" season and whether playing Lebron and AD to "make a run" for the playoffs is a bad move. How low will the Lakers have to go before the articles stop being about asking when they'll flip that switch to championship contenders?

  10. Ouch, the 1st place team in group C and 2nd place team in group D will get one day of rest between their final group game and the knockout round.
  11. So, this is bizarrely fun to watch... The Savannah Bananas, technically a minor-league quality team (summer league full of college players) playing in the Coastal Plain league, has been workshopping a variation on baseball to speed up the game and make it more fun to watch. After 3 years of practice, scrimmages and tweaks, they've unveiled Banana ball, and are playing real games against opponents this spring. Banana ball is baseball with 9 extra rules: 1. Every Inning Counts - Each inning is worth a point. If you outscore your opponent in that inning, you get 1 point. Most points at the end of the game wins. If you score 13 runs one inning and the opponent gets 0 you get 1 point. If you score 0 runs one inning and the opponent gets 1, they get 1 point. 2. Two hour time limit. From the first pitch start, there is a running 2 hour clock for the game. If an inning isn't complete at the 2 hour time limit, the inning doesn't count towards the game score. If the game is tied at 2 hours, it goes into showdown. 3. No stepping out - If the batter steps out of the box, it's a strike 4. No bunting - Bunting sucks. If a batter even tries to bunt, they'll be thrown out of the game. 5. Batters can steal first - If a passed ball or wild pitch happens in any point in an at bat, the batter can choose to take off for first. If they're out, they're out. If they're safe, they're safe, At bat over. 6. No walks allowed - If a pitcher throws a fourth ball to a batter, it becomes a sprint. The hitter takes off running while the catcher has to throw the ball around to every defensive player on the field before the ball becomes live. The hitter can advance as many bases as he can while this takes place. 7. 1 on 1 Showdown Tiebreaker - Each team picks one pitcher and one hitter to face off. Defensive team gets the pitcher, catcher, and one fielder that has to be on the infield grass until the ball is put in play. Once in play, the batter has to come around all the bases, while the pitcher and fielder are allowed to chase the ball and throw it to the catcher for a play at the plate. If the pitcher strikes him out, he's out. If the batter walks, he takes second and the hitting team gets another batter. One out each team, most runs after showdown gets the win. 8. No mound visits allowed - No mound visits from the coach, catcher, or any other player. Shout at him from afar if needed. 9. If a fan catches a foul ball, it's an out - True home field advantage, let the fans get in on the action. If it sounds bizarre, it's even more so to watch, especially on walks, foul balls, and showdowns. Games go amazingly fast, as a typical 9 inning game completes in an average of 99 minutes. Each inning has the potential for a walk off by the home team, since it's like match play inning by inning. Sure, a team can win the first 5 innings and end the game, but so far this spring it hasn't happpened. If you want to see how a game plays out, they livestreamed a game on March 18 on Youtube here: Next game in the series takes place tonight.
  12. Planning ahead, the US will be playing England on Black Friday, and I fully expect Fox Sports to make sure that game is in a good time slot for both fan bases, either 11am EST or 2pm EST (if Daylight Savings is permanent, that would be Noon/3pm).
  13. Yeah, I see Iran as maybe the third best team in AFC behind Japan and South Korea, ahead of Australia, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. It's really only the pot 4 draw that hurt this from being an ideal draw from the US's point of view.
  14. Way too early predictions: Group A: 1. Senegal 2. Netherlands Group B: 1. USA 2. England Group C: 1. Argentina 2. Mexico Group D: 1. Denmark 2. Peru Group E: 1. Germany 2. Japan Group F: 1. Belgium 2. Canada Group G: 1. Brazil 2. Serbia Group H: 1. Portugal 2. Uruguay Knockout: England over Senegal Argentina over Peru Germany over Canada Brazil over Uruguay USA over Netherlands Mexico over Denmark Belgium over Japan Portugal over Serbia Argentina over England Brazil over Germany USA over Mexico Belgium over Portugal Brazil over Argentina Belgium over USA Brazil over Belgium
  15. I still have severe doubts that Ukraine will be able to play in that game in June.
  16. Here's how I see the draw - Ideal group for advancing past the round of 16 - England good, but not the best UEFA team, can be beat - Iran is probably the best Asian team right now, but the USMNT is better than them and can exact revenge for 1998 - UEFA playoff was the worst draw of the Pot 4 lot, but the US can still beat any of those teams. Overall, probably the best draw the US has had since 1994.
  17. Weakest group is probably group H, even with Qatar in group A.
  18. Go Ukraine
  19. Canada has to be group F because Ghana can't be there.
  20. UEFA playoff it is, opening game for US.
  21. NZ-Costa Rica as sacrificial lame to Group E.
  22. Saudi Arabia to group C. UEFA playoff is now either B or H.
  23. Ecuador to group A. US will get either a CAF team or UEFA playoff.
  24. Asia-Peru playoff drawn first, goes to group D with France-Denmark-Tunisia.
