  1. Discussion: What is the best Big Ten-SEC football game of all time, and why is it now the USC-Texas championship game in 2006?
  2. Two of them in the group, both probably better than any non-CONCACAF opponent they'll see coming in aside from maybe Uruguay, plenty of options of teams in the run-up. I'd just rather have seen a Spain/Netherlands/Germany than one of Saudi Arabia/Japan.
  3. Just wish they could have found a window sometime to get a UEFA team in the last 12 months before the World Cup.
  4. Very real possibility that just 1 of the top 8 seeds makes the CWS.
  5. If you're starved for college basketball stuff, the FIBA U18 Americas championship is starting today, featuring a team of top high school prospects from this and next year. Illinois recruit Ty Rodgers is on the team and starting today.
  6. That felt only fair after 3 straight squib singles.
  7. In fairness, if Ortega is at 3rd there he scores easily on that flyout.
  8. Kudos to Ross for going to Robertson here in a high leverage situation instead of saving him for the 9th because closer. Could probably have gone one batter earlier, but it worked out in the end Now just keep him in for Arenado-Bader, then go to someone in the 9th that won't screw up against a trio of pitcher-quality hitters
  9. I am no MLB pitcher, but I feel that walking the bases loaded in front of Paul Goldschmidt is not the correct play.
  10. Lars Nootbaar sounds like a name that was automatically generated from a Japanese-developed baseball video game and then run through Google translate for American audiences.
  11. I clearly haven't been paying attention lately, but why does Yelich look like Ryan Braun defensively, and Craig Counsell offensively?
  12. I was going to say "I didn't consider the walk-ons" but I forgot he's not a walk-on. He's just a built-in 13th man. I still think the team could use an experienced PG and a backup big, but again convincing a transfer to join up in Champaign for 10-15 minutes a game is a tough sell for a quality player.
  13. Illini departures: - Trent Frazier (Sr) - Graduation - Damonte Williams (Sr) - Graduation - Alfonso Plummer (Sr) - Graduation - Kofi Cockburn (Jr) - NBA Draft - Austin Hutcherson (Jr) - NBA Draft - Jacob Grandison (Jr) - Transfer portal - Omar Payne (Jr) - Transfer - Jacksonville - Benjamin Bosmans-Verdonk (Jr) - Transfer - South Carolina - Andre Curbelo (So) - Transfer - St. John's - Brandin Podziemski (Fr) - Transfer - Santa Clara Illini Additoins: - Terrence Shannon Jr (Sr) - Transfer from Texas Tech - Matthew Mayer (Sr) - Transfer from Baylor - Dain Dainja (So) - Transfer from Baylor - Skyy Clask - 2022 signee ranked #30 on 247 - Jayden Epps - 2022 signee ranked #67 on 247 - Ty Rodgers - 2022 signee ranked #48 on 247 - Sencire Harris - 2022 signee ranked #105 on 247 Illini holdovers: - Coleman Hawkins (So) - RJ Melendez (Fr) - Luke Goode (Fr) So, I mean...it'll be a mostly new team. Should be good, but there's still room to add players yet, but it's a tough sell for a transfer where there may not be much playing time available. Nobody wants to transfer to be the 11th or 12th guy.
  14. Nottingham Forest wins the Championship League playoff and will be in the Premier League next season. If Horvath stays, that puts another USMNT player in Premier League play.
  15. Lodeiro goal in the 88th minute, 3-0. Seattle is actually going to do this.
  16. Seattle gets a second on the counter after some beautiful passing. Up 2 with 10 minutes to play. Just like the other game this afternoon...
  17. Lucky goal by Seattle. Still counts.
  18. Robert Mays on how screwed up things are for the Bears this season:
  19. So it ends 2-2. All Seattle needs is to win at home next week.
  20. Wow, penalty awarded, Seattle converts again, 2-2 98 minutes into the game.
  21. Huge video review 6 minutes into stoppage time.
  22. Seattle gets one back on a penalty. Should be an exciting last 15 minutes.
  23. Soft penalty and a poor defending sequence and it's quickly 2-0 Pumas. Seattle gets a breakaway chance and hits it to the one spot where the keeper can reach it. Seattle needs a goal here.
  24. I think its a decent chance of happening. Before the series I figured 1% chance I'd say the chance right now is about 20%. Reminds me of the very last time the Bulls were in a playoff series, when they won both the first 2 games in Boston before getting blown out in game 3 and not winning again. This isn't really going to be a competitive series until the Bulls actually lead in it.
  25. Heh, Vuc in the postgame Q&A answering "How is it that you guys are defending so much better these past two games?" -- "Well, we just started doing the opposite of everything we did in the regular season."
