  1. Marquis will most likely relieve Zambrano tomorrow after 1-2 innings.
  2. Even if expected, though, it can still be disappointing. Doesn't make what the Cubs have done this year not be great, though.
  3. And that means you're not letdown? That's absolutely absurd. No, it means that the team losing doesn't necessarily mean a letdown. It can still be disappointing, but not all that absurd.
  4. Even if Florida should lose today, any SEC team will have multiple chances to get back into national title contention by the end of the year. Heck, 2 losses isn't out of the question.
  5. I'm actually a little disappointed Felix isn't in the lineup today. Would be nice to get a few good looks at him before the postseason and/or next year.
  6. OK. I agree with pretty much all of this. This is the first time I've watched Ole Miss this season, and they look at best an 8-4 team. I can't decide if Snead is good or not just based on this game. To me, Florida has looked overrated both times I've watched them. Tennessee isn't that good, and Florida should have put at least 50 on them. Considering how the BCS computer ratings are calculated, there's no motivation to run up the score on anyone. Although, with how they currently overemphasize human polls, maybe there is motivation.
  7. Fair enough, should have said "prior to their loss".
  8. For the Brewers, yes. For the Cubs, no.
  9. OK, how did you come up with your list? And if you didn't, who did? BTW, Ole Piss about to punt. His list was based off numerical data from Sagarin's predictor, or at least a reasonable facsimile thereof. I can only imagine what USC's odds to go undefeated would have calculated as prior to last night.
  10. Numbers don't think, they just report. Now, as far as flaws in the model, that's another story.
  11. the dodgers have furcal back not to mention blake and manny i am starting to believe we all might be in for a tremendous let down in a few days The Cubs have Soriano back not to mention Harden Some people need to realize the games this week mean very little, and the Cubs still have gone 3-3 on the road against teams fighting for their playoff lives.
  12. The Dodgers have a 2.49 ERA against the Cubs this year and still went 2-5 against them.
  13. I knew they were 2-games over, just off by 2 on total games played.
  14. The Cubs are 7-5 against the Brewers. They can't have a losing record.
  15. So, what you're saying is that he is soft.
  16. The people who are acting like the result of this game has any bearing on the Cubs are very foolish. Wrong. Avoiding injury is the primary goal of this last week. Nothing else really matters at this point. To think otherwise is to needlessly worry about pointless crap. Of course, what else would the game thread be without worrying about pointless crap? you think who they face in the playoffs is pointless crap? Yes, the Cubs are far and away the best team in the NL. I actually think the Dodgers are a best-case scenario, and a Dodgers-Brewers NL playoffs would be extra-good. But, whoever they play, they will be favored and a better team.
  17. The people who are acting like the result of this game has any bearing on the Cubs are very foolish. Let's see, we could face the red hot Dodgers who have the best pitching in the league, a top offense since getting Manny, and have plenty of time to set their rotation and rest or We could play the Mets, their disastrous bullpen (which will probably be even more destroyed with a likely DH on Sunday and potential Monday game), a questionable rotation, and no Santana in game 1 Yeah, no difference. The best pitching of the league? Right. The most overrated pitching in the league, sure. The Dodgers have spent the last month playing nobody. Two weeks ago, people were begging for the Dodgers to pass the D-backs to play them, and now we're afraid of them? Please. The Dodgers are six games over .500. They are the worst team in the playoffs.

  20. If the Cubs are in the World Series, it would be a better home environment for all intents and purposes if the White Sox weren't.
  21. The second my wife needed brain surgery that would have a 50% mortality rate, I already forgot about the game.
  22. It looks like the Herald simply says it's likely DeRosa out for the rest of the season, which doesn't include any postseason games. This would only make reasonable sense, since there's no need to play hurt at this point of the season.
  23. Yeah, Milwaukee getting into the playoffs would put them against the Phillies or Mets. Still hoping for a somewhat intricate series of ties that doesn't include the Cubs playing Monday.
  24. I want to not see the Cubs play a game Monday, and see the Brewers, Mets and Phillies all tie.
  25. I'm shocked there were 5,000 unsold tickets?!?! Well, that was Thursday's game. This weekend there are likely no unsold tickets due to fans of the Iowa Cubs coming out to see their team.
