Also, big battle for first place in the west. I think my whole team is even going to play this week.

    Week 18

Lowrie to DL, Cruz to bench (day to day), Garrett Jones to utility.
  3. I agree with the Giants being at the top. The Rockies' staff has a better team ERA, ERA+ and WHIP than the Phillies. The Phillies have more strikeouts, though. If Hamels gets dominant again, I might go Phillies over Rockies, but otherwise I think the Colorado staff is better. I put the Phillies over the Rockies strictly due to the acquisition of Cliff Lee, who significantly upgrades the overall rotation, and should lower the numbers quite a bit in the second half.
  4. Based purely on stats, the Cubs are superior to every one of those staffs except the Dodgers. LA and the Giants are the only two staffs that have better overall numbers than the Cubs. The Cardinals have a better team WHIP than the Cubs, though. I'd probably rank them: Dodgers Cubs Cards Rockies Phillies Including the Giants, I'd probably go Giants Dodgers Cubs Cards Phillies Rockies Offensively, though, I'd likely go Phillies Dodgers Cards Cubs Rockies Giants

  6. 9 of 11 Big Ten teams received at least 1 vote, indicating, as usual, nobody has any idea what's going to happen in the Big Ten beyond PSU and OSU this year.

    Week 18

Good week for both Bay and Cruz to be practically out the entire week. Bay did manage to come back for one game, injuring himself hitting a HR.
  8. Yeah sure. Nice bluff. And if does go through with it, I hope the NFL owners collude against his entitled ass and don't draft him at all next year. It worked so well for Mike Williams (although his sit-out year was due mostly to a poor decision to enter the draft when ineligible)...
  9. In order, 1. Evan Longoria 2. Felix Hernandez 3. Chad Billingsley 4. Ryan Howard 5. Pick from Ellsbury, Wieters, Halladay depending on what the rest of your league is doing regarding keepers, i.e. if there are going to be no good catchers draftable, keep Wieters.

  11. So you're saying maybe they had some new kind of flaxseed oil to try on his arm to increase his strength and velocity?
  12. Buntalicious! [holding back the temptation to make a really rude comment] Did it involve the Cubs record when the #2 hitter executes a sac bunt? :)
  13. It probably would work out better for the Cubs to just keep winning, and not rely on other teams being bad.
  14. That was 3 innings ago. I know, I just happened to open MLB.com and saw it on the front page. Well, then it didn't just happen, you just happened to notice.
  15. Using a Hawk-ism should be punishable by ban.
  16. I'm a big fan of Football Outsiders for general football information. They do a bunch of in-depth analysis, more so than any other location I've been able to find.
  17. You guys are so full of bravado right now it's ridiculous. The red kool-aid is flowing through the streets. You guys are a juggernaut and the Cubs are barely hanging on by their nails because teams are rolling over and others are turning bad just in time to play them. It's just a matter of time before they fall to the new murderer's row. Or not. Not saying you're totally wrong, but even most Cubs fans would admit you've only played two good teams since the break, and both of those were series loses. I think this weekend will tell us what kind of team the Cubs are. If they take 3 of 4 in Colorado I'll start to really worry. On the flip side, the Cubs have been blown out exactly once since the break, and played both good teams fairly even in their home parks. They're 12-1 against all other teams, while scoring has been way up, which was the primary issue in the first half for the club. Truthfully, the Cubs are a couple unlikely bullpen implosions away from being 16-3 since the break, and that's about as well as any team can play at this point.
  18. The sound implies that there was close proximity to the point. That was a gulf of a miss.
  19. Easy win. Tying run never even came up to bat there in the 9th.
  20. He's a tool, so is Al for that matter. I can't help but think you either quoted the wrong post, or posted to the wrong board.
  21. Apparently Gorzo needs to share some secrets with the rest of the staff against Votto.
  22. Grabow thinking to himself "Hey, I'd rather get 2 outs from Phillips than pitch to Votto, but rather than waste 4 pitches, I'll just plunk him with one pitch so I can get 2 outs with 3 pitches total."

  24. Before I forget, WHY DO YOU SAC BUNT WITH MILTON BRADLEY?
