  2. I don't think free agency is going to work since we still have the major league phase of the draft coming up. I recall in NSBB keeper league where we did the prospect draft but this was done after the June draft in order to have some sort of order since we have no idea when cbssports was going to add players to the pool...this made it a free for all. My suggestion is don't have prospect draft until after the 2010 June draft. Any players on the MLB or minor league rosters are up for drafting in our major league phase of the draft whether they are on the cbssports database or not. For example, Aroldis Chapman is currently a free agent while Shelby Miller of STL is not on the database. If owners are inclined to pick these players during the major league phase of the draft then they can. However, Bryce Harper cannot be drafted since he has not been drafted by any team. We didn't have a prospect draft last year, thus the reason we are now doing it at the beginning of the year. It was set up was that all players in the last years amateur draft were not available to be picked up preventing the free for all. In fact I think we had a freeze on adding players to the minor league roster at that point as well using just a draft process to add players rather than simply adding players once they became available. I think the current process works the best as we still have to take into account players signing, being added to the database, etc that waiting until June doesn't work as well as it does at the beginning of the season. Plus it really doesn't matter if you add a recently drafted player until now anyways as he won't attribute any points a couple of months after being drafted. Ok, makes sense. So is it ok to draft a minor leaguer even though he is not in the cbssports database (i.e. Shelby Miller)? Anyone that is in a major league system, yes (i.e. no indy or overseas league guys).
  3. Tough choice.
  4. Sorry, a few more questions. 1) how many rounds? 2) if I have seven minor leaguers, can i only participate in 3 rounds or can I continue to draft even if I have more than 10 minor leagues but must drop to get to 10? 1) How ever many rounds are necessary to fill rosters. Probably no more than 5. 2) You can only get up to 10 minor leaguers, as all rosters must be legal.
  5. To my understanding, anyone minor league eligible is able to be drafted in the prospect draft, but in particular those draftees from this past June that were since added to the player database (like Strasburg). The order is the same as the major league draft.
  6. Just curious, how long have you been waiting to make this post to bash the Illini? Seven months? Longer? Seems like an odd entry. Was last week's home loss really eating at you that much?
  7. Somebody should probably mention to the Illini that the game started at noon today.
  8. Yes, it should be...and now I'm afraid.
  9. Final mock selection bracket: http://www.ncaa.com/auto_pdf/p_hotos/s_chools/ncaa/sports/m-baskbl/auto_pdf/mock-selection-bracket-021210
  10. That's gotta be a typo. They won the fake Pac-10 tournament. They're the only Pac-10 team in the field.
  11. So, to recap, the top 46 teams, in order (with the near misses listed below), according to the media mock committee: 1. Kansas 2. Syracuse 3. Kentucky 4. Villanova 5. Purdue 6. Georgetown 7. Duke 8. West Virginia 9. Kansas State 10. Ohio State 11. Wisconsin 12. Michigan State 13. New Mexico 14. Vanderbilt 15. Temple 16. Texas 17. Wake Forest 18. Pittsburgh 19. Gonzaga 20. BYU 21. Tennessee 22. Georgia Tech 23. Butler 24. UNLV 25. Baylor 26. Texas A&M 27. Richmond 28. Rhode Island 29. Dayton 30. Northern Iowa 31. Marquette 32. Illinois 33. Clemson 34. Oklahoma State 35. Florida State 36. Missouri 37. Ole Miss 38. Maryland 39. St. Mary's 40. Xavier 41. Charlotte 42. Tulsa 43. Old Dominion 44. Cornell 45. South Florida 46. Florida --- At large cutoff -- First four out: UAB UTEP Siena California
  12. Rest of seeds, by NCAA staff: 8s: Rhode Island, Northern Iowa, Marquette, Illinois 9s: Clemson, Oklahoma State, Florida State, Missouri 10s: Ole Miss, Maryland, St. Mary's, Xavier 11s: Charlotte, Tulsa, Old Dominion, Cornell 12s: South Florida, Florida, Arizona, Wichita State
  13. 6s: Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Butler, UNLV 7s: Baylor, Texas A&M, Dayton, Richmond EDIT: Because they're behind on time, NCAA staff is filling out the rest of the seeds themselves during a lunch break.
  14. Duke wins the fake ACC tourney, and Florida ends up being the last team into the mock bracket.
  15. It gives me hope that Illinois could actually have a decent shot at winning some games if they can avoid the 8/9 spot.
  16. 5 seeds (in order): Wake Forest, Pittsburgh, Gonzaga, BYU
  17. 4 seeds (in order): New Mexico, Vanderbilt, Temple, Texas
  18. Mock committee is back in action this morning. More "results" in from conference tourneys, opening up 3 at large spots. They voted St. Mary's, Charlotte and South Florida into those 3 spots, with Florida on the line waiting on one last result. Either Florida or Virginia would be the last spot.
  19. Five teams to complete the committee's at large pool (for now): Xavier, Missouri, Florida State, Ole Miss, Marquette. Outside the field (for now): St. Mary's, UConn, ND, Louisville, USF, Cincy, UNC, Florida, and the entire Pac-10.
  20. 3 seeds (in order): Kansas State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan State
  21. The committee currently has 31 at-large teams selected at this point: BYU, Duke, Georgetown, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Michigan State, New Mexico, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Syracuse, Temple, Tennessee, Texas, Vanderbilt, Villanova, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Baylor, Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, Wake Forest, N Iowa, UNLV, Rhode Island, Richmond, Dayton, Maryland, Clemson and Illinois They seeded two lines so far: 1 seeds (in order): Kansas, Syracuse, Kentucky, Villanova 2 seeds (in order): Purdue, Georgetown, Duke, West Virginia Odd to me Missouri, Xavier, St. Mary's not in the field yet, but they're on the short list for the remaining spots now.
  22. Rhode Island, Virginia Tech, Siena and Richmond tossed out of 8 vote after deliberation, Illinois, Xavier, Florida State and Dayton added to vote. Top 4 were Clemson, Florida State, Xavier, and a Dayton/Illinois tie. Dayton voted in after deliberation. 39 teams currently in including auto bids (Butler, Gonzaga, Cornell, Wichita State notable auto bids). Wichita State? As per the mock selection, Wichita State, not Northern Iowa, won the MVC tourney, so UNI would have to then make it as an at-large selection. Since Butler/Gonzaga/Cornell won their respective theoretical tourneys, they aren't in the at-large pool at all. Also, Northern Iowa, Richmond, Rhode Island and UNLV were voted in on the latest vote. 27 of 35 at large teams spoken for (with a possibility that some of them will win their auto bids).
  24. Next top 8 vote: Northern Iowa, UNLV, Rhode Island, Richmond, Siena, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Maryland.
  25. Baylor, Wake Forest, Texas A&M and Georgia Tech are in. Another vote of 8 upcoming.
