  1. Also, the Heat don't get an MLE until next year, so there's no way they're getting all these decent players. The only players they're getting are players that agree to play for the minimum.
  2. Apparently the Redick deal is frontloaded in order to make it difficult for the Magic to match. Redick is another great shooter that doesn't play much defense. Would be nice to get a defensive guard.
  3. Rose is not better than Paul or Williams right now. The only viable argument is that he may be more valuable per dollar paid than any point guard, and even then it's close.
  4. I like the Korver deal. If the Bulls can land Childress or Brewer, they'll be really solid this year.
  5. Korver is a great shooter, and the contract isn't terrible. Not a good defender, so I'd still like to see the Bulls get somebody who can defend well out on the perimeter. EDIT: And yeah, Deng -> Iguodala is mostly a lateral move. Slightly better at creating a shot, slightly worse at making it.
  6. They got the big man down low who can score though, right? That's been the biggest thing cited with this team over the past several years. Certainly, it's not enough. But the Bulls didn't come away empty. My expectations for the franchise since Jordan left have never been all that high, frankly. I totally agree they shouldn't do anything rash. Yeah, even the roster as built is a couple good outside shooters away from being a serious contender. They have a great play maker, a scorer down low, and a great post defender. Even Deng has his uses if he can find the shot that eluded him last year (albeit the least rewarding shot in the NBA).
  7. The important thing for the Bulls right now is that they don't do something really stupid, like trade for Redd or Arenas. They've actually done a good job of building a good team. A superstar would have pushed them over the top from contender to favorite, but it didn't work out (again). So, they need to somehow find a quality SG (that can actually shoot, and preferably play some D) and bank on Rose and Noah continuing to develop.
  8. I've seen and heard some people throwing the Bulls management under the bus for failing to pull any of the 3 in. I, personally, have no problem with the way the Bulls management handled things. There are certain things they couldn't control and couldn't offer, especially to Wade, that Miami could. They made their pitch, kept it professional, and are still a good team after the dust clears.
  9. Between this and wishing the Bulls still had Hinrich and Salmons you're on a roll tonight. John Salmons is a fine basketball player. For two half-years he has been. If he keeps up the level of play he had in Milwaukee, he'll be good. If he regresses to career averages, that contract will be awful.
  10. I don't know, maybe the Bulls should take a look at players that aren't awful instead. I mean, I liked Hinrich, Arenas, McGrady and Hamilton 5 years ago when they were worth decent money, but now's not the time to add an albatross with a big name just to say the Bulls "tried".
  11. Wow, the Cavs official front page is brutal right now.
  12. can we clear enough room to make a run at carmelo? Technically, they have enough cap room now to make a run at Carmelo. They just don't have anything Denver would want in return for trading him. is he unrestricted next year? i should have added "next year" to the end of that, my bad. Yeah, but he'll likely either extend this year or do a sign and trade before free agency because of the looming lockout.

  14. I forgot, the Bulls do have Omer Asik this year, so maybe they don't need a big.

  16. Arenas is an inefficient player, hasn't been relevant in the NBA for 4 years now, and is awful defensively. Plus, he'd blow all the remaining cap space. No, no, no.
  17. No Arenas. There's no reason to blow the cap space now just to say you used it. Keep building pieces that are available, and work on trades for quality players that won't look stupid down the line.
  18. If there's a SG out there that can hit 3s and play defense well enough to make up for Rose's deficiencies, I really like them next year.
  19. I hope Jon Paxson sells Gar Forman's soul to the devil for Derrick Rose to have 3 range. Well, that of course, but it's nice to have a backup plan. ;)
  20. I hope the Bulls go after Josh Childress, Anthony Morrow, and Ronnie Brewer/JJ Redick, along with a big that can spell Noah.
  21. If the teams finish that way, the standings will be 1) Miami 2) Orlando 3) Boston 4) Chicago 5) Atlanta 6) Charlotte 7) Milwaukee 8) Cleveland I think if the Bulls don't make some huge disaster moves, they're right with the Hawks. Still behind Miami and Orlando clearly, and likely behind Boston unless the Big Three deteriorate really quickly (which is also possible).
  22. All I'm saying is that when the new NBA Jam game comes out, I'm calling the Heat.
  23. 12-5 could be a possibility if they start slowly.
  24. I have a feeling Mike Miller is going to get a lot of money in the next day or two. Hope it isn't from the Bulls.
  25. The Nets didn't even get that much.
