  1. Updated East NBA Finals odds via Hollinger: 1. Celtics: 25.9% 2. Orlando: 22.3% 3. Chicago: 22.2% 4. Miami: 22.1% Rest of conference: 7.5% Celtics with better than even odds of landing the 1 seed now, too (which makes sense with a 3 game lead with around 35 to play).
  2. I think most people here see the Cavs as the post-1998 Bulls, except without the titles to fall back on as a reason for the ineptitude. The roster is old and bloated, and will need a fantastic set of drafts and player turnover to even get competitive again. Heck, it took the Bulls 3 rebuilds to get it "right" (First, Brand/Artest; second, Hinrich/Gordon/Chandler; third, Rose/Noah).
  3. Thanks for that, then. Good to see the Bulls hand the Clips their worst home loss of the season.
  4. Oh, and just for fun, the Bulls magic number over the Cavs is now 8.
  5. I'm also curious to see how Hollinger's ratings shake out tomorrow since 1-7 was so tight today.
  6. That might be the best road game the Bulls have played this year. No bad quarters.
  7. Any team that doesn't make the playoffs is in the draft lottery. Since 16 of 30 teams make the playoffs, the lottery consists of 14 teams. Any teams that make the playoffs then get slotted in reverse standings order.
  8. His second column basically takes another SBNation writer to task for ripping him four years ago. So far, I like this move.
  9. The Clippers have one crazy road trip coming up after Wednesday's game.
  10. His first column at SBNation implies a lot about why he left ESPN.
  11. He's apparently joined SBNation: http://www.sbnation.com/authors/rob-neyer
  12. Last article He doesn't mention where he's going, just that he won't be too hard to find. I consider Neyer the best baseball writer ESPN employed, so now the bar gets lower over there.
  13. Hard to believe the Cavs were 7-9 at one point.
  14. Pessimism: The Bulls only have 3 home games in the entire month of February, and those are against San Antonio, Miami and Charlotte.
  15. For the first time all year, Hollinger's ratings have the Bulls higher than the Heat and Celtics. He also projects the Bulls to finish 56-26, tied with Miami and one game back of Boston (with Orlando at 54-28). Not that it means much of anything, but it at least shows the Bulls belong in the discussion in the East. NBA Finals odds via Hollinger: Orlando 27.5% Boston 22.4% Chicago 22.0% Miami 19.5% Rest of league: 8.6%
  16. Oh, Kaner... "At first when I was out there, they started chanting 'Let's go 'Canes,'" Kane said. "My last name is Kane and I just kind of gave the crowd a salute and said thanks for cheering me on against your hometown boy."
  17. Don't have a good feeling about tonight, since Rose apparently hasn't eaten solid food in 3 days. And he wasn't really efficient lately to begin with.
  18. Maybe it's just me, but when you do statistical analysis on the season, and that analysis indicates things in such a way that you actually conclude "Landry Fields is a much better guard than Derrick Rose", I'd probably look into revising the analysis, or at least call into question the results.
  19. The ASG is in 3 weeks. Let's say Bosh comes back in a week, as speculated. I'm not sure either Bosh or the Heat even want him to play in that game two weeks removed from an injury. Really, I feel the same way about Boozer. He's injured enough, let the guy have a week off.
  20. No, but Lopez could.
  21. Yeah, probably more so than Wallace this year, was just throwing out any possibilities. Bogut, Lopez and Boozer are probably the players in the running for the last 1-2 big man spots. Here's how I see the team shaking out: Known Starters: Rose, Wade, James, Stoudemire, Howard Reserve locks: Rondo, Pierce, Garnett, Horford, Josh Smith Pick 2 of: Ray Allen, Joe Johnson, Brook Lopez, Carlos Boozer, Andrew Bogut, Raymond Felton
  22. Potential odd NCAA tournament quirk: If Dayton qualifies for the NCAA Tournament, but is in the First Four group, they'll play their opening round game at home.
  23. On a serious note, who are the worthy backup bigs in the East after Garnett and likely Horford? Noah and Bosh are injured and won't play. At that point you're left deciding between guys like Lopez, Boozer, and Gerald Wallace to fill what will probably be 2 spots.
  24. Because the East only has 6 teams with all-star worthy players, and the roster isn't all that deep? But Boozer's played 2/3 of a season and doesn't play defense. I have a hard time imagining he's worthy. It's like he's playing in the all-star game all year long, then.
