  1. Odd tidbit: if you look at game-by-game DVOA, the Bears outplayed the Packers both times the teams played each other this year.
  2. Those two statements are not mutually exclusive.
  3. If anything, can the playoff results show that the NFC South wasn't really all that this year, and benefitted from the NFC West/Carolina on the schedule to inflate their records?
  4. Two meeting this season, the first won by the Bears mostly due to special teams and penalties advantages, the second won by the Packers when the Bears had nothing to play for, but played the starters. Nothing much to take from either game aside from noting both defenses played really well both times. EDIT: Also, both are coming off decisive victories, albeit in wildly different situations, but neither game was in doubt by midway through the third quarter.
  5. One thing that puzzles me about this team is how much playing time Deng gets, and you can pretty clearly see it wears him out on back-to-backs to play 43+ minutes every game.
  6. Marshawn Lynch - 4 carries, 2 yards.
  7. Seattle's defense was better than last week, holding the opponent to just 35 points.
  8. 25. Seattle (8-10) 26. Baltimore (13-5) 27. Atlanta (13-4) 28. New England (14-3)
  9. Bears' passing game oddity: Reciever targets: Johnny Knox - 100 Devin Hester - 73 Earl Bennett - 70 Matt Forte - 70 Greg Olsen - 70 They spread it around remarkably evenly.
  10. Over his last 18 starts, Crawford is 14-3-1 with a .925 save percentage and a 1.94 GAA.
  11. Qatar's World Cup Spending Spree
  12. I'm trying to figure what they meant "excellent placement". Either they meant Maynard, or it means "in the end zone."
  13. The other guy was Aaron Schatz of Football Outsiders. He said Seattle had about a 25% chance of winning last week, and less than 10% this week.
  14. McCamey was terrible tonight. Even if he's average, Illinois wins going away.
  15. Yeah, that guy just looks like a complete clown. I think its CarrotTops long lost son... Oh and nice choke job Wiscy. Up 9 with little over 2 left and let Mich St tie it up 3 turnovers in 25 seconds after 5 turnovers combined in their first two Big Ten games.
  16. Bingo. That was my opinion the whole time also. You're better off giving him one more year to see if it works rather than getting your 3rd option or worse and having another rebuild with the wrong personnel for the system. It's gotta be Hoke now, right? Unless Hoke goes to Stanford.
  17. The only discussion to have here is that it pays to be a guy who isn't asked to handle the ball or really do anything besides shoot when open. Being on a good team where you don't receive much defensive attention helps also. Still, surprising at least to me to see three Big Ten guys in the top 5 there. Especially Bill Cole, who is probably Illinois' 7th option on offense.
  18. One of those four occasions where both teams made the playoffs was in 1994, when the Packers, Bears, Vikings, and Lions all made the playoffs. None made the NFC Championship.
  19. I'll just leave this here for discussion... Top 10 players in Offensive Rating, min 28% usage: 1. Kemba Walker, UConn - 123.8 2. Jon Leuer, Wisconsin - 123.0 3. Alec Burks, Colorado - 122.5 4. Nate Wolters, South Dakota State - 121.1 5. LaceDarius Dunn, Baylor - 119.4 6. Deshaun Thomas, Ohio State - 118.9 7. Jimmer Fredette, BYU - 118.8 8. Marshon Brooks, Providence - 118.6 9. Nolan Smith, Duke - 118.6 10. Gary Flowers, Southern Miss - 118.2 Top 5 players in Offensive Rating, overall: 1. Levi Knutson, Colorado - 144.6 2. Jon Diebler, Ohio State - 143.1 3. Bill Cole, Illinois - 141.6 4. Andre Dawkins, Duke - 141.0 5. Ryne Smith, Purdue - 141.0
  20. According to Hollinger's ratings, 5 of the currently top 6 teams in the NBA are in the East (Heat 1, Magic 2, Celtics 4, Hawks 5, Bulls 6). Of course, there's a huge dropoff after that in quality, with only the Knicks a decent team, so the West is still better overall. According to Sagarin's points rating, the Lakers are in the mix as well, with the Bulls 6th and the Hawks 9th after Dallas and New Orleans.
  21. Wait, what did Dallas Braden do? 25 years, try 25 weeks.
  22. I have a feeling that even if ND doesn't stumble, if Illinois goes crazy and finishes first or second in the conference, they'll still go to Chicago. And as long as they don't have to play UIC in the tourney, they should win there too.
  23. Basically, last night's ND-Marquette game was a toss-up that ND forgot to show up for.
  24. I'm trying to figure out why your AFC picks are almost exactly like mine lol. But really I'm trying to figure out how one could win by 5 in an OT game. The only way I can see that happening is if the Packers kick a FG on their first possession of OT, then on the Falcons chance to possess the ball they get sacked in the end zone for a safety. Is that what you intended? Yes, because I thought it'd be funny. Plus, it's the only somewhat feasible way that a team could score twice in OT. No, a pick 6 on the Falcons possession is way more feasible than a safety. No, because the second someone picks off the pass, he's kneeling down, because the game's over. Unless you're Tramon Williams, in which case you pick off the pass, and then dance around for 10 seconds with a live ball.
