  1. Reading some ESPN chats from this morning, and Knicks fans are in full delusional mode. They think the Knicks are a better bet to win the East than Orlando now. My opinion is similar to Pelton and Hollinger's opinions: the Knicks may have just improved from the 8th best East team to the 6th best. Throw a party. EDIT: And right on cue... shawn (long island) - I feel like youre not giving the new Knicks roster enough of a chance at scoring a first round upset if they play the bulls. The knicks will ahve defensive issues and depth issues, but their two superstars are great at drawing fouls and getting to the line. If they can get chicagos frontcourt in foul trouble, you telling me that chauncy, fields, carmelo, and amare cant beat rose David Thorpe (12:41 PM) Yes, that's what I'm saying.
  2. Also, a Sebastian Pruiti article on the offensive disconnect between what the Knicks do and what Anthony and Billups did in Denver.
  3. Kevin Pelton evaluating the net effect to the Knicks season resulting from the trade:
  4. Denver saved a TON of money in this deal. I think they made out exceptionally well for a team with no leverage.
  5. Wednesday against Toronto, according to ESPN.
  6. Technically from 3 days ago, but here's a good article about Derrick Rose's shooting progression this year: Rose trusting his jumper.
  7. Hawks win! On an unrelated note, the New Jersey Devils are ON FIRE. Holy crap.
  8. I'm now mostly curious how UMF can top this in the third period. We've gone from "season over" to "Stanley Cup, here we come!" in the span of 10 minutes. Will there be anything left?
  9. According to predictive statistics: Hollinger's Playoff Odds: Head 60-22, Celtics 58-24, Bulls 57-25, Magic 53-29 BBP's POW ratings: Celtics 58-24 (58.4), Heat 58-24 (58.1), Bulls 57-25 (56.7), Magic 54-28 (54.2) Personally, I see the Bulls finishing with 56-57 wins, so then getting a 1 or 2 seed hinges on one of the other two teams coasting to the finish a bit. I don't think the Celtics are too concerned about seeding, as they won last year as a 4, and all of the top 4 in the East is clearly a step above. Blah, I hope they don't settle for an 18-10 finish. I know the schedule is harder but we are 10-2 against +500 teams since Dec 3rd. It is possible though, its hard to play .700 ball all year long. They have road games remaining against Miami, Orlando twice, Atlanta twice, and New York. They have home games remaining against Boston, Miami, Atlanta, New Orleans, Utah, Memphis, and Phoenix. 13 of the remaining 28 games against winning teams. Of the other 15 games, 10 of them are roadies, where the Bulls can lose to anyone. So, really, just 5 of the 28 remaining games are "gimmes" (Washington, Sacramento, Toronto, New Jersey, Philly), and even Philly is playing really well of late. 7-6 against the winning teams and 6-4 in the roadies gets them to 56 wins.

  11. As for being able to beat every team this year, there are only 5 teams capable of doing it. Here's who they need to beat (# of chances in parentheses): Bulls - Knicks(1), Hawks(3) Spurs - Celtics(1), Heat(2) Thunder - Heat(1), Spurs(1), Raptors(1 - yes, they are 0-1 against the Raptors), Lakers(2), Clippers(3) Lakers - Bobcats(1), Heat(1), Magic(1), Hawks(2), Mavs(2), Spurs(2) Hornets - Bulls(1), Pacers(1), Lakers(1), Timberwolves(1 - yes, they are 0-2 against the Wolves), Knicks(1), Suns(3) What this says to me mostly is that Miami still has to play a lot of good teams in their last 30 games. :)

    The draft

I guess I'm not looking there much because I've got five solid starters already. If, you know, the Cubs are smart enough to start Wells. Carlos Silva or bust!
  13. Do you know what leverage means? Yes, thanks. Quite aware. Appreciate the concern, though. Then why the confusion? What confusion? Prokhorov flat out said the discussion was dead, so I thought maybe it might have some merit. That's all.
  14. Do you know what leverage means? Yes, thanks. Quite aware. Appreciate the concern, though.
  15. Thank you for your continued valued input.
  16. I think what I said was that the owner said it was dead, which had to count for something. Apparently not much, except a brief respite from constant attention.
  17. To expound on this, the Bulls are going to be the only team to defeat every team in the Western Conference. Boston, Atlanta and Miami were swept by Dallas, Orlando was swept by Utah, and everybody else in the East is terrible. Well, the only team in the East to do it at least. Well, technically that was what I was indicating by qualifying "every" team in the West. No West team has beaten every East team yet, either (Spurs haven't beaten Celts/Heat, Lakers haven't beaten Heat/Magic/Hawks, OKC hasn't beaten Heat/Raptors).
  18. To expound on this, the Bulls are going to be the only team to defeat every team in the Western Conference. Boston, Atlanta and Miami were swept by Dallas, Orlando was swept by Utah, and everybody else in the East is terrible.
  19. And the Bulls become the first NBA team to defeat every team in the Western Conference.
  20. According to today's Hollinger ratings, here are championship odds: Spurs 22.9% Heat 21.4% Magic 11.1% Bulls 9.9% Celtics 9.5% Lakers 8.6% Mavericks 5.9% Thunder 2.5% Hornets 2.0% Sixers, Grizzlies, Nuggets 1-2% Blazers, Suns, Knicks, Rockets, Pacers 0.1-1%
  21. Bill Simmons did his yearly top 50 players by trade value list:
  22. Or the chippy underdog with the exciting young players and the budding superstar (Chicago).
  23. That's about the worst I feel about a win so far this year.
  24. Two games off the 1 seed, now. Only 3 teams left to beat, and the last chance against the Spurs is Thursday.
  25. 1) No, just have to keep track of point limit and exempt players yourself. 2) Keeper points are based on the total number of points a player earned last year (unless exempt)
