  1. The way I saw it, Fuld was well behind Colvin and Jackson for major league duty, and the Cubs actually used what value he had to contribute to the Garza deal. Obviously, Tampa wanted him for some reason.
  2. If discarded to the scrap heap means being involved in a trade for Matt Garza, then I'm really OK with it.
  3. Bulls' efficiency stats, through 2 playoff games: Rose: 35.4 PER, .596 TS% Korver: 15.3 PER, .787 TS% Thomas: 18.7 PER, .625 TS% Boozer: 11.3 PER, .497 TS% Bogans: 1.8 PER, .188 TS%
  4. I'm curious how much of the offensive rebounding for the Bulls is a result of the Pacers bigs making a point to keep Rose as far away from the basket as possible. When they're focused on Rose, it's much easier for Boozer/Noah/Gibson/Thomas/Asik (did he play yesterday?) to get position for offensive rebounds.
  5. It really seems like they're coasting, which I never thought I'd see from this team. It also goes back a good 3-4 weeks, aside from the Atlanta and Boston games. And yet they're 16-1 in the stretch, so I'm not sure what to be upset about.
  6. Yeah, the other weird argument I've been hearing is that this is how the Bulls played all year, we just never noticed. Which would make more sense if they didn't have the second highest scoring margin in the NBA. The reality is, in game 1 the Bulls didn't play well defensively (and the Pacers hit a high percentage of generally low percentage shots). In game 2, the Bulls didn't play well offensively (couldn't shoot, couldn't protect the ball). Maybe next game they can get more assists than turnovers. That'd be a good start.
  7. In reality, 22 turnovers goes a long way towards keeping the opponent in the game as long as possible. In near the same way that 57 rebounds goes a long way towards keeping your team in the game.
  8. Sebastian Pruiti goes over the great response from the Bulls on the Rose double-team play late in the game: http://nbaplaybook.com/2011/04/19/what-happened-on-that-double-team/
  9. Kendall Gill cautioning the Bulls not to get too overconfident heading into game 3. Maybe I'm naive, but I don't see that being a problem.
  10. And a horrendous one from Noah. Do these guys ever play well together? Only for maybe 3-4 games this year. Although between injuries, I think they played together a total of about 15 games. I have to like their chances if each pulls down 15 rebounds, though. Noah hasn't been able to click offensively with Boozer around all year. Nice pass to Korver at the end, though (Why was Korver's man leaving to cover Noah on a drive?).
  11. Also, Boozer had a quietly solid game tonight, at least offensively.
  12. My favorite tweet of the night, from just after Korver's shot: "In their defense, Kyle Korver is white so the Pacers probably thought he was their guy."
  13. Nobody got hurt, so no. tsk tsk, no regard for your opponent's health Is Collison seriously hurt?
  14. Oh, and just like I didn't think Hansbrough would shoot 70% from range all series, he likewise won't shoot 15% from range all series.
  15. Team assist-to-TO ratio: not good. Hell, Rose's 1:1 ratio was comparatively good.
  16. The Bulls played like crap offensively, but it's hard to say they didn't deserve to win when they got what, 60 rebounds?
  17. Brewer hit a FT. It's meant to be.
  18. C'mon Thibs, draw up a defense that says "DON'T JUMP AT A 3-POINT SHOOTER! THIS MEANS YOU TOO, DERRICK!"
  19. Deng, it's OK to pass the ball to someone on the team that makes FTs better. And dribbles better. Although, it's also OK to make both.
  20. The Cubs want someone on base for Castro to drive in?
  21. Technically not playoffs-related, but Rick Adelman was just fired by the Houston Rockets. Curious to see how many coach of the year votes he gets, anyway.
  22. Sunny. Cold. Possible showers tonight with a low of 37 degrees.
  23. Looking at the box, Hansbrough still made 2/3 of his shots from 16-23 feet in that game, so it's not like the Bulls made him miss then, either. Although, in the rest of the meetings, Hansbrough was 2-5 from that range combined, so maybe Vogel made him a bigger focus.
  24. Also, Hollinger's proposed defensive adjustments for game 2: - Don't use Collison on Rose, but hide him on Bogans/Brewer (Korver helps negate this plan) - Boozer should play up on Hansbrough and trust that the help defense will help when he gets by him.
