  1. So that makes Almora (6th pick) thus far the fourth highest bonus player in the draft after Buxton (2nd, $6M), Correa (1st, $4.8M), and Zunino (3rd, $4M). Zimmer (5th) and Fried (7th) each signed for $3M, and Gausman (4th) and Appel (8th) are as yet unsigned.
  2. For me, 1984 was like 2003 would have been had the Cubs been up 3-0, except instead of Prior and Wood coming back to close the series, they had one pitcher in Sutcliffe that was better than both.
  3. Drop Montero Add Trout Drop Teixeira Add Bautista Drop Stanton Add Hamilton

Jeff, you've got 6 GS and have two pitchers in the lineup scheduled to pitch today.
  5. Federer just outright stole the second set there from nothing.
  6. Murray just used his last challenge of the match...eight games into the match.
  7. Considering that Castro doesn't actually really get a break for the All Star game, it's a good move.
  8. So it's too soon to refer to the 2013 season as the Rizzorection?
  9. I'm hoping for Federer-Murray just so that it'll be a good story either way. It has been a long time since someone other than Djoker/Nadal/Federer won a GS event. Since Roddick won the US Open in 2003, only three of the subsequent 34 majors have been won by someone other than Federer, Nadal or Djokovic.
  10. When was the last time the Cubs actually faced the opponent's closer?
  11. If anything, more GIDP is indicative of getting more people on base. You got numbers to back that up ? Four of the top five teams in OBP over the past 5 years (Yankees, Red Sox, Cards, Tigers) are also among the top 8 in GIDP. The only outlier is the Rockies, for which I blame Colorado.

    Week 14

Lots of matchups with playoff implications, but those are boring. One matchup, in particular, pits two teams in the thralls of working towards the #1 overall pick. Theocracy vs. Calvinball. Both are currently sporting 7 game losing streaks, so at least one of those is going to end. It looks like it's all just going to come down to who wants it less. On a side note, #1 overall fantasy catcher and all-star Carlos Ruiz is available, if any team wants to upgrade their C production to make a run at winning it all this year.
  14. So? The biggest annoyance about White Sox fans is their supposed fixation on the Cubs results and caring more about them than the White Sox results. Them beating the Rangers really doesn't affect the Cubs in the slightest.
  15. Well, it's not as if stacking the lineup against lefties has really paid off for the team this year.
  16. The Twins have 12 hits and a walk through 4 innings and have plated just 3 runs.
  17. The Cubs have won 7 of 9 and have been outscored 35-34 during that stretch.
  18. You might want to get that checked out.
  19. One of the four candidates for the Orlando head coach position is Quin Snyder. They just re-signed Jameer Nelson. I don't think Dwight is going to stay.
  20. The problem with objective individual stats in foorball is that they just, well, aren't. Any objective stat for QBs in football is heavily influenced both by the player's offensive line and receiving corps. So, it's a lousy way to rank individual ability. At best, one could suggest that the team's passing offense wasn't top 10, and that's just a no brainer. But the sheer difference in offense between when Cutler was in there and Hanie/McCown would suggest that Cutler alone is an enormous boost to the passing offense, more so than the difference between Romo and Kitna last year, for sure.
  21. Grounder to the pitcher, tried to get Castro too far off second and missed.
  22. Jeff Samardzija's Seesaw Season
  23. It's nice that Rizzo can be a mentor to the younger players on the team, like Castro.
