SWAC 1 seed Southern actually won the SWAC, so I'd bet they get "rewarded" with a game against a 1 seed instead of a play-in. EDIT: #7 seed NC A&T won the MEAC, and they're definitely in the play-in game.
Along with 2 top 50 wins, 2 losses outside the top 100 and 2 losses outside the top 200. EDIT: And a weaker non conference schedule than Iowa, who is only not getting in because of their non conference schedule and inability to beat a top 25 team..
Way to go, CBS. Cut away from the 4 point Memphis-Southern Miss game with 30 seconds to play to go over the Indiana-Wisconsin pre-game warmups, and everybody missed Southern Miss's comeback to send the game to OT.
Next steps: 1) Rank the next 12 in order, not your team. 2) Rank the remaining 8 in order. 3) Rank the last 4 at-larges (Kentucky, Cal, La Salle, Tennessee) along with the 10 teams in consideration (some in consideration only because they're still alive in their tourney) 4) Bracket the teams we've got in the S-Curve. Should now have seeds 1-6 and 12-16 done.
Round 4 results... Current S-Curve (48): 1. Indiana 2. Duke 3. Louisville 4. Gonzaga (WCC) 5. Kansas 6. Michigan State 7. Michigan 8. Georgetown 9. Miami 10. Ohio State 11. New Mexico 12. Florida 13. Only got 2 lists today so far, so I'm going to sleep and will post my list in the morning and compile the data. Tomorrow I'l work the remaining teams under discussion into the voting.
They're at least on the "bid thief" table along with Vandy and Alabama in the SEC, UMass in the A-10, Southern Miss in the C-USA, and Maryland in the ACC.
Virginia didn't make a great case today. Iowa's the only team left on the outside that could improve their case yet. Alabama's win could get them back into the conversation, maybe. I still believe that if the committee truly uses KP as a tool, MTSU is definitely in.
Also, at the end of games today, it's about time to start taking serious notice of potential bid thieves and where they'd slot in if they stole an auto bid. Teams like the Southern Miss/UTEP winner, Utah if they win tonight, half the SEC, etc.
Butler is #54 on KP. This is why we do everything by committee here, so nobody's singular opinion rules. A consensus of 7 people decided St. Louis wasn't among the top 4 seeds, so they aren't.
