  1. It's clearly not that simple, exemplified by Javy's 119 wRC+ this season, a good 4 years after you assert the league "figured him out"
  2. I still have a soft spot for Pirates trades from when the Cubs fleeced them in 2003, acquiring Kenny Lofton and Aramis Ramirez for Bobby Hill and Matt Bruback.
  3. I'm sure it probably wouldn't happen, but I do wonder what it'd take to try to get Skenes from the Pirates, as they're a mess right now, not ready to compete and the farm system isn't looking great.
  4. The 13 runs the Cubs scored was a season high against the Reds this year. For the Cubs, it was the third time in a week they've scored at least 13.
  5. Fun fact, USA hockey has never won the world championships (they won the Olympics in 1960 when it doubled as the world championship)
  6. RIP George Wendt.
  7. I would greatly enjoy it if Bauer is picked #24. Cmon, Tigers, make it happen.
  8. I have a part question, part "whew we are old now" post: Young bukie (who didn't exist until 4 years into the board's existence and is pictured in avatar from a long time ago), now a 17yo senior in high school is curious about the draft potential of three Lincoln way area IL prep arms that he's caught all of in the past year+, Jack Bauer (LW East), Conor Essenburg (LW West) and Luke Mensik (LW Central). Any chance all 3 get their name called early enough in the draft to stick with a pro team? (And no, young bukie is not going to have his name called and will have to settle for playing C in college next year)
  9. Deion Sanders was a HOF player with an attitude that quickly wore thin on teams, which was why he bounced around so often. If Shedeur Sanders inherited all his father's attitude (and keep in mind, his dad has been his coach his entire life) but hasn't backed it up with the skill, how many teams do you think would just "nope" out in advance?
  10. It would be a very Raiders thing to select Sanders here with one of their b2b picks at the end of the 3rd.
  11. Imagine if Sanders had been invited to the NFL Draft Green Room.
  12. Kaleb Johnson goes to the Steelers in round 3, meaning everyone in the Athletic top 50 is off the board now except Sanders.
  13. Fun fact: Tyler Shough, the QB drafted by the Saints in the second round, will be 26 by the time the season starts, 3 years older than Caleb Williams.
  14. After reading about Sanders' interviews and having seen all 32 teams pass on him at least once, if not 4 times, I could definitely see him going undrafted. Any team that drafts him at this point is just going to have to deal with even more drama from the slide out of the second round and the nonsense from Trump.
  15. It was still the second round, 60ish picks into the draft. The Bears have now addressed both lines and two skill positions in the first two rounds. I'd like to see a later round RB drafted (Skatterbo?) but aside from all the choices not necessarily being who I would have picked first, they've done exactly what they needed to do, which is encouraging.
  16. According to the Athletic, Sanders' draft prep interviews went horribly awful, and several teams could just have him as "do not draft" as a result of just that, never mind the physical specs (which were not great).
  17. It's the second round.
  18. Well, 4 games now, all wins outscoring their opponents by a combined 39-9 in those games.
  19. Sanders was basically the 40th best prospect on draft lists going into the draft, and any team taking him in the first round was going to be noted as a reach for a need position. The knock on Sanders is that he's not that great of an athlete, and the biggest positive on his draft sheet is that "he has the confidence of an NFL starter", which...feels kind of like a backhanded compliment?
  20. Doesn't seem like anyone is itching to get Sanders, he's not on anyone's top 10 available right now anyway, wouldn't be surprised to see him be a day 2 pick.
  21. Don't hate it, but not my first choice.
  22. Ok, Walker or Warren will be there at 10.
  23. Here is what I think right now, in order of confidence (most to least): 1. Ward will go #1 2. Hunter and Carter will go 2-3 in some order. 3. Jeanty is the 3rd best player in this draft, and he is option 1 if he makes it to 10. 4. If Jeanty is gone, as long as one of Graham, Walker, Campbell, Membou or Warren makes it to 10, the Bears will pick them. 5. If picks 4-9 are all those players, the Bears will trade down.
