  2. If I got to pick... Fowler Soler Rizzo Bryant Coghlan Castro Montero Hammel Alcantara
  3. Joe Morgan had four seasons in which he had 50+ XBH, 50+ SB, and 100+ walks. No other player in history ever did it even once.
  4. This could be my favorite roster move of the Epstein era. The bullpen is a bit taxed from a series of short starts, and 3-4 days from now, they can call up Bryant completely for baseball reasons.
  5. I don't see the big deal about this. It's the first time he tried a pickoff throw in 3 years, and he picked off a runner are third by five feet.
  6. So great that the hip thing is to hate on Baez now.
  7. Is Illinois really good enough to go for a national seed, or are they just really taking advantage of a favorable schedule?
  8. Dexter Fowler, top of the 1st tomorrow.
  9. Interesting article today comparing Baez to early Sosa, which is actually a really interesting comp, as Sosa really needed the strike zone judgment to take his game to an elite level.
  10. After being at risk of missing the playoffs entirely as recently as a month ago, the Spurs are now just a half game out of the two seed.
  11. Calculating it to be 25% better to not bunt in the situation is severely overestimating the run environment, especially at the stadium today.
  12. Cliff Alexander officially announced he's turning pro, 11 months after everyone knew he was, and 6 months after his parents went pro.
  13. A potential top-10 starter that's younger than Castro that has a more team friendly contract situation.
  14. Somehow Lester and Wainwright have thrown the same # of pitches through 3.

  20. to me, the biggest difference between Baez and previous cubs prospects struggles is that Baez is just one of like 5 potentials. If he can't figure it out, the team isn't screwed.
  21. Wisconsin has the best offense in college basketball. It's what they do.
  22. I was just thinking we really needed a Kris Bryant thread.
  23. It's so great that they could have a front page photo that is a constant reminder that Dusty broke Priors shoulder.
  24. we don't get to have good cubs books like jonah keri's expos or rays book or billy beane's a's book. all our books suck and are fully of sappy romanticism of losing or meatballery about curses and crap or both. if anyone can prove me wrong i'd love to read an actual good cubs book. There's a decent short story about the Cubs written by Rany Jazayerli up on Grantland right now.
