  1. Fangraphs' August Fagerstrom announced today he's leaving Fangraphs to join an MLB team's front office , but he's not at liberty to say which team yet.
  2. Tonight's perfect ending: Lester picks Linder off first to end the game.
  3. I think the most annoying thing about the media narrative today is how the focus is on every pitcher that will throw today except Hendricks...who might just be the best option of all today.
  4. A first inning Baez HR would do wonders for my nerves.
  5. Cubs get a run each off of Kluber-shaw-miller-allen, Hendricks goes 6, Lester/Lackey/Arrieta handle the 7th and 8th, Chapman closes it out in the 9th, Cubs win 4-1.
  6. In scoring 9 runs, the Cubs scored more in game 6 than the Blue Jays did in the ALCS.
  7. Let's make the most of this shot. [bbvideo=560,315]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5WUOnTxwPw[/bbvideo]
  8. there's your answer I don't think many would have scored from second on that, but Schwarber had no shot.
  9. Now the question becomes how deep of a fly would Schwarber need for a sac fly?
  10. Depends where the single ends up. If it's a single off the wall, then...maybe.
  11. From Dave Cameron in the FG chat: "It's amazing how good the Cubs' offense looks when they aren't facing Kluber, Miller or Allen." ...horsefeathers you, Cameron, that list included Tomlin until the 1st inning tonight, too, smug jackass.
  12. He got a 1-2-3 inning last inning too, but West disagreed: [tweet] [/tweet]
  13. So if the bring in Miller in the second inning, can he go 8?
  14. Oh wait, I forgot the Cubs are the best hitting team in baseball.
  15. Man, if that's the Cubs not being able to hit curveballs, the Indians are in for a long night.
  16. Plus maybe an inning of relief tomorrow if necessary.
  17. This feels a lot like the 2015 Wildcard game against the Pirates, Arrieta going against a good young hitting team with an elite bullpen. Except last year's Pirates team had a better starter going.
  18. I mean, it's unfathomable that this team could let Rose, Noah and Gasol walk and somehow not get younger and more athletic. However, the offense is pushing the tempo like crazy so far, and they're giving themselves second opportunities by getting offensive rebounds. It'll be interesting to see how other teams adjust to the pace of the Bulls, and see if they can keep it rolling through the season.
  19. i'm basically on edge as soon as the game starts...then i relax at the first good play we have. then if we are losing i actually WANT to be dying. The moment we have a lead I start playing count the outs and then I realize there's like 21 at least and I want the sweet release of death I start to feel comfortable when the Cubs can trade runs for outs and still win. So when I was at game 6 I was freaking out when Joe brought in Chapman, and then confident in victory two pitches later.
  20. Actually, ESPNs playoff odds illustrate the difference these 3 games have made pretty well. At the start of the season they were projecting at 40-42, at the back end of playoff contention. Today they are projected for 47-35, with a 95% chance of making the playoffs. I still think they're going to be hard pressed to finish ahead of any of Cleveland, Boston, Toronto or Atlanta, but they've played well enough so far to bump their season projection by 7 games already, so who knows for sure.
