  1. 250 yards out of the third stringer? Yeesh. How long is Wolfe going to be out? And the end of 2000 shall not be mentioned. Wolfe had a knee sprain late in the game last week..hes supposed to be out at the least another week, maybe up to 3 or 4 weeks. Luckily, our next few games are against Ball St. and Central Michigan, so we should be ok. that Bama-Tenn game was a great game I thought. Alabama's defense could take them into a pretty nice BCS game.
  2. NIU beat Kent St 34-3, could've been a much bigger blowout, but our 3rd string back got 250 yards because Wolfe and Harris were out. Congrats to NU, this season definitely reminds me of the one in 2000. Hopefully, it'll end in a better way though. If they would have beat PSU, there's no doubt in my mind they would be real close to the top 10 in the country.
  3. yeah ok ESPN, the real fans of the team do not make excuses. Nice of them to shove all of the Cubs and Red Sox fans into "the fans that blame everything on curses" category.
  4. Pirates/Cardinals after that whole brawl thing they had, these 2 teams really don't like each other. seriously though, Cubs/Cards easily.
  5. Wolverine is a close 2nd behind Spidey for me. Spidey's the man.
  6. he will be a future manager of the Cubs someday, I'll gurantee that.
  7. its hard to root for either of these 2 teams. Next year, we better be playing the Cards in the NLCS.
  8. yep i have to say the Cards are going to win this one. Everything seems to be in their favor. Now tomorrow's game (if there will be one) might be a bit of a different story with Clemens on the mound.
  9. i could care less about the Sox fans. I can name several other ways to hate a team/organization, but the fans are not one of them, at least in my opinion. I too have to put up with Sox fans but I'm not going to stoop down to their level and diss a team we play only 6 times a year. I have a lot of Sox fan friends and I am glad that they have something to cheer about. They are knowledgeable and they can actually engage in a baseball conversation without saying, "Cubs suck," ect. Congratulations White Sox. I'll definitely be pulling for them over the Cards/Crapstros come Saturday night.
  10. these LCS's are getting weirder and weirder every year.
  11. well it is still a one run game and you guys do have the heart of your order coming up in the 9th. Lidge definitely didn't look like himself yesterday, who knows what will happen in the 9th tonight.
  12. well he did say that Edmonds should know better since he is a veteran and this is the freaking NLCS. The pitch wasn't even close to a strike, but Edmonds definitely did not need to call the ump whatever he called him.
  13. yep the ump messed up, but Edmonds got thrown out so no complaining from me :D i can't believe i'm pulling so hard for the Astros now...
  14. I do think replay should be instuted for close calls. What could someone possibly have against making sure the correct call is made? Someone would have to call for it. The umps probably wouldn't because of thier egos, and I don't know how well letting opposing managers replay things would go over, but you'd have to have someone in charge of replays who would call for one on a play like this and then have the umps look at it and review. i agree with you. Situations like these are why baseball needs some form of a replay system for real close calls. Robot Umpires!!! NOW!!! well im not saying for EVERY play but situations like this and the Crede play where he got thrown out at 2nd (and yes Crede was definitely out at 2nd, just using it as an example though)..it would be nice if they could review them to make sure they are right.

  16. give me Millwood/Washburn over Burnett anyday... and to get back on topic, Furcal is everything we need. Good (not great, but he did improve in the 2nd half this year) leadoff hitter, has a cannon for an arm and is probably one of the best defensive SS's in the game. I can see why Atlanta is so interested in bringing him back...he is not overrated at all. Get him plz Jim.
  17. Sanders homers in the 1st to make it 2-0 Cards... also i missed the 3rd member of the announcing crew, but I'm 90% sure its Bob Brenly. Kinda interesting.
  18. who wouldn't want Scioscia as manager of the Cubs? He is definitely one of the best in all of baseball.
  19. You cannot be serious about this. Talk about your HS highly rated system QB's. RB ran a spread offense that was totally Brasic's forte in a terrible conference against awful competition. He was breaking Illinois passing records with a noodle arm and some awful competition. EDIT: I must keep in mind Illinois has had some awful QB'ing in the last decade, so this isn't as much of a stretch as originally thought. He's still bad. i don't think hes that bad. He's an improvement over the jokers that were the QB's last year thats for sure. He isn't going to be anywhere close to an NFL team though when he graduates.
  20. unfortunately, i wont be able to watch the USC-ND game. I'll be at the NIU-Eastern Michigan game to watch NIU put up hopefully at least 50 points. Go Irish though, i REALLY hope they beat USC..
  21. Against the White Sox? I disagree, he has sucked his last 4 or so starts anyways... http://losangeles.angels.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20051010&content_id=1245392&vkey=news_ana&fext=.jsp&c_id=ana if Colon misses the whole series (which might be possible), the Sox have no excuse to not winning the ALCS.
  22. what a shame for this Bears defense...its a shame that they have to play pretty much perfect ball to make up for their terrible offense.
