  1. 2 on, no outs for the 2nd straight inning. Let's score this time plz.
  2. wow Nomar is really heating it up lately :D
  3. its tough being an Illinois fan, hopefully tomorrow will be the start of a rebound season.. for a "real" team, NIU plays Michigan at the Big House at 2:30 tomorrow on ABC. Go Huskies.
  4. well i still don't believe. They're going to have to win every game in September to get me to believe (you bums better win them all) Illinois season opener is on during this...Cubs get 2nd priority tomorrow, sorry :(
  5. Cubs-Me: 1. C-C 2. C-A 3. B-B 4. C-C 5. C-B 6. B-A 7. i don't really want him back, but Hendry would probably put him at 2nd. 8. A-A 9. B-Other, re-sign as setup 10. B-C
  6. His arm is weak for second. i've heard that he was a SS in his earlier Japan days before arm problems made him become a 2B. as for the Walker trade, please wake up Jim and DON'T TRADE HIM!!!
  7. not that bad of a strategy considering your RBI guys are due next and you have a runner at 3rd with only one out. Inexcusable by both DLee and Burnitz to not drive home that run. They should've at least got 1 in the 1st.
  8. Hendry better fix it in the offseason. It's unreal how a very near WC winner last year can be so bad the next year.
  9. A player can't be promoted back for 10 days since his demotion, and Matt hadn't finished his 10 days when McClain was promoted. Also, theoretically, Scott can play 3B. Matt will be back when rosters expand. Len said earlier in the game that Matt would take Wood's roster space tomorrow instead of the more logical choice in Rich Hill.
  10. Yeah, Hendry said he'd be available tonight. I'd actually like to see him one last time before he's shut down. one question...why? Because he's been exciting out of the bullpen. yes he is, but it just seems very stupid to me why a guy would pitch not even 2 days before he has surgery. He better not be out there for the 9th...
  11. Yeah, Hendry said he'd be available tonight. I'd actually like to see him one last time before he's shut down. one question...why?
  12. great game tonight  Dustbag might bring Wood in for the 3rd inning, and unfortunately, i'm being serious :x
  13. Baker deserves to be fired for this alone. Pathetic.
  14. does anyone know how long (in terms of months) it will take Wood to recover from this surgery?
  15. mods please lock this, i did not see the thread from a few days ago in Baseball Discussions.
  16. The Cubs website says surgery will be Wednesday. When they say "shut down tomorrow" does that mean he's active tonight? i would guess he is active, but probably won't be used. My guess is they didn't have enough time to call up someone from Iowa (probably Hill) when they announced this. No sense to have him pitch today.
  17. just heard on one of the ESPN SportsCenter updates on AM 1000 that Kerry Wood WILL be shut down to have surgery tomorrow. all i can say is, about time.
  18. I, too, am 2-1. But my three were against St Louis. In relation to tonight, GO CUBS! my 3 were against Milwaukee.
  19. trade Burnitz, Holla, Neifi and Macias immediately. shut down ARam and Wood for the rest of the season so they are 100% healthy at Spring Training next year. my lineup for the rest of the season: Hairston RF Walker 2B Lee 1B Nomar SS Barrett C Murton LF Cedeno 3B Patterson CF in the offseason, keep both Walker and Hairston, sign Furcal and Giles as well as some bullpen help. 06 lineup: Furcal SS Walker 2B Lee 1B ARam 3B Giles RF Murton LF Barrett C Hairston CF
  20. little late on this thread, but i said it in the game thread too...Sosa definitely deserves his number retired. I also agree I don't want to see it for another 5 years or so because of the fans that still hold a grudge against him. IMO it's not really a matter of if they're going to retire Sosa's number, but when. The Cubs organization would be very very stupid to not retire Sosa's number.
  21. i agree, Furcal is a MUST signing in the offseason. I'd still prefer Giles over Damon because he won't cost as much and I definitely don't want to get in a bidding war with the Yanks.
