  1. Right as ESPN tuned into Z's no-hit bid against the Astros was when Preston Wilson singled as well. ESPN seems to be a pretty big jinx when it comes to perfect games and no-no's.
  2. Should be the death sentence of the pitching coach. He is the one working with the pitchers everyday. He should of noticed this while watching film of Liriano. That is just really poor coaching if you ask me. Gardenhire has the ultimate decision of when or if a guy comes back. He was the one that felt like Liriano was ready.
  3. True, but a team dosent have a chance to go to the playoffs every year. This is probably the Twins year to win the world series. I think their pitching is solid(specially in the bullpen). Their lineup produces enough runs to win a game every day. Twins are my favorites to win the World Series if they make it to the playoffs. I agree if you have a chance to get to the playoffs and contend for a ring you do anything you can to get there... If it means jeapordizing your rookie ace's career, I disagree. Exactly. And I agree with TT...the core of the Twins lineup/pitching staff is very young and will remain in Minnesota for some time to come. It really isn't worth rushing one of your star pitchers back from injury after an injury that is as serious as an arm injury. If they throw Liriano again sometime before the regular season ends, they may inch right up on the Cubs for the dumbest team in the Majors.
  4. More like Gardenhire has Baker syndrome. It doesn't make sense to me to rush a guy back with an arm injury and expect him to contribute to the team in the stretch run. I don't know why the team just didn't shut him down for the rest of the season and have him rest for the offseason. This whole thing just reeks of Kerry Wood, part two.
  5. Sure...Duke was 43-17 with a 2.38ERA and Rich Hill was 19-19 3.90ERA. Why can't you compare the two again? So did you not read what he said, or did you do that on purpose? Duke had a Minor League K/9 of 7.25, Hill's is an obscene 12.59. I didn't read the K part...Sorry 'bout that...I thought it said look at their minor league stats... I'm just saying you can't rely on a guy to be your 2-3 starter that has had a good 2 month run. Maybe not a 2 or a 3 starter for next year, but if he's not in the rotation to start the season, something is seriously wrong. Hill has earned a spot in the opening rotation for 2007.
  6. Aaron Brooks has looked like, well, Aaron Brooks for you guys. Oakland's D has been great in the 2nd half, but the Raiders O-line can't handle the Chargers pass rush.
  7. Have I mentioned that I really, really, really hate the Viqueens? :x
  8. No hitter, I'm guessing.
  9. Ahhahahahaha on the explore more videos, the 4th and 26 play is on there. Losing to the Bears is bad enough. Bringing up one half of 2003's choke jobs is just pure hell.
  10. That was pathetic. So when does basketball season start?
  11. YEAH BABY! What a win by the Hoosiers on the road. I know it's just a MAC team, but if IU was in the MAC they'd be a 4th place team at best. KLew took them to school! Time for the 'Dawgs to go in your house next week and make it two weeks in a row that a Big 10 team loses to a I-AA team  NIU lost to Ohio...Horvath was garbage again. His record as a starter with NIU: 7-8. Why Dan Nicholson (who won 3 straight games last year to get us into the MAC Title game) isn't starting is beyond me. Novak's obsession with veterans starting is probably going to screw NIU out of yet another MAC Championship this season.
  12. Going to the BWW down here for the game; it should be fun. Hopefully a competitive game, and no injuries on either side. GO PACK!!!
  13. (Stating the obvious) Carolina's offense just isn't the same without Steve Smith.
  14. edit
  15. Northwestern is now down 34-17 to New Hampshire  I don't understand how they hold Miami Ohio to 3 points last week and then allow 34 against a I-AA team.
  16. Illinois already down 14-0 :x I will never understand Zook's fetish with Tim Brasic. This guy absolutely sucks.
  17. No it isn't. It's a stupid play. They should've been able to get that challenge on the field much quicker than they did. This is true. I really don't know what held up the challenge so long. It was obvious from the first replay that Miller's foot was out of bounds before he was in the endzone. Steelers taking control of this one.
  18. Wow, that's a bad break for Saban and the 'Fins.
  19. Please win Peoria. And go Pawelek!
  20. So he can then get suspended for the year? or are they just gambling that it'll only be a few weeks or he won't be suspended at all? Supposedly with the NFL's appeal process, he could actually end up playing the full year this year before getting suspended. He's a decent player and he'd help our returning game immensely as well as giving Favre a solid WR target. But I really don't want all the baggage that he's going to bring to Green Bay. He's had chance after chance and he continues to blow it. If he's here for only one year, I could live with that I guess.
  21. I'm pretty sure all the Cubs/Packers fans on here are either from Illinois or Wisconsin (at least in this thread).
  22. Packers are apparently close to signing Koren Robinson. Yay  (I think this move deserves a roll)
  23. As a Cubs fan, are you allowed to do that? The only Marlins that remain from the 03 team, that I can think of, are Willis and Cabrera. I'm definitely hoping they win the Wild Card. It would be an absolutely amazing story. It's like the real version of Major League except instead of the Indians, it's the Fish.
  24. I really hate how the clock starts after a change of possession. I haven't seen/heard of one person who likes the new clock rules. Hopefully the NCAA realizes what a dud this is and goes back to the old rules next season.
  25. There's now a petition site for those of you who hate the new clock rules: http://wehatethenewclockrules.com/
