I only predicted the Big Ten to win one game. There definitely weren't many good teams in the Big 10 this year.

I think that this is going to be a better game then expected. The Seattle Defense has plenty of playmakers up front when given the proper motiviation. Remember the Monday nighter in Oakland? I expect Julien Peterson to have a huge game and remind people of Merriman. Your argument made sense up until this point. Big deal, the Seahawks beat the awful Raiders by 13 at home. The defense shut out the worst offense in the league. The Bears offense, for the most part, relies on the strength of their running game to open up their passing game. Oakland had no running game at all, no O-line, and no QB. I think that the Seahawks are going to be in for a little more of a challenge come Sunday afternoon. And I don't really know how you can compare Julian Peterson to Shawn Merriman. I do agree, though, that the game will be closer than what people are predicting. When the Seahawks offense is clicking, there may not be a more dangerous offense in the NFC (and that's counting the Saints). But they haven't really had too many offensive outbursts this year. If Alexander can get some decent runs and if Hasselbeck can keep the defense honest by making some good reads and decisions, Seattle should easily control the game on offense. If the Seahawks defense can force Grossman into making some bad decisions, it's Seattle's game all the way. But that's a lot of ifs to rely on.

Well, we scored 77 points, including just 11 in the 3rd. Offense just didn't show up tonight. This one would've been nice because I didn't think we would win on Wednesday in DC. It seems like we always struggle at Washington.

There's only 2 ranked teams with 3 losses right now. UNI is the only MVC team with 2 losses and they haven't gotten any hype because they weren't supposed to be at the top and they don't have any marquee wins. Regarding SIU, their 3 losses are all to quality opponents, but who's their best win, Wichita? At this point in the season it's who you beat that gets you put in the Top 25. Take Mizzou for example. As of last week's polls, their two losses were to quality opponents(Purdue and Illinois) and they had shellacked a decent team in Arkansas, but they had a combined 1 vote. They aren't going to get any now if they continue to blow double digit leads at home to Iowa State, but if SIU or any other valley team continues to play well they will move up through attrition. Wichita and Virginia Tech are our best wins. IMO, I think the Valley is qualified enough to have their teams move up the rankings due to playing well and not just because of attrition. At the end of the year, there should easily be 4 teams (SIU, WSU, UNI, MSU) in the tournament and maybe a 5th in Creighton if they can ever get it in gear. But that's not my point. My point is that the MVC has the 2nd highest rated conference in terms of RPI. The RPI has always been a signifant contributer of who makes the tournament, but it seems like the pollsters and the tournament committee seem to ignore the MVC's success. Case in point, Missouri State had the #23 RPI in the land last year and was left out. Do you think that a team from a "power" conference would make the tournament if they had the #23 RPI in the country? Of course. I'm just frustrated that the MVC's success last year, and even greater success up to this point this year, seems to not matter to the people conducting the polls. Most of those teams in the top 25 have played 80% of their games at home while we have already played 10 of 15 games on the road. Teams like ND and UConn have no business being in the top 25. How does ND hold a spot in the top 25 after being crushed by Georgetown? How is UConn easily in the top 25 stilll? Who is their best win this year? Stony Brook? I just find it laughable how people can take these polls seriously with the "big boys" getting all of these votes after playing cupcake schedules up to this point. But at least there's a tournament in college basketball to make up for the pollsters constant biases.

I hate pollsters. We get 10 votes in one poll and none in the coaches poll. Screw the damn coaches. The MVC is the 2nd highest conference in the land and there are NO MVC teams in the top 25. Talk about a joke. Our three losses were against very solid teams in Arkansas, Indiana, and UNI and we're barely getting any votes. It's real frustrating that the damn pollsters still do not recognize the MVC as one of the better conferences in the land.

Seconded. How can so many bad teams be in one division? The Nets are the biggest disappointment in the league, up to this point.

Please win that game. The win over 'Bama and VT's win over Duke really helped SIU's RPI today even though we lost. We're still in the top 10 in the country in RPI. Not a pretty game today against UNI. We were up by 7 at around the midway point in the 2nd half before Lowery decided to put in some of our bench players. Our bench is horrid on offense and it showed as UNI easily came back and tied it up very quickly. Their shooters caught fire and it was game over for us. Not a bad loss by any stretch of the imagination; UNI should make the tournament. But it's frustrating because this team easily could have won all three games that we have lost so far in the season. SIU takes on Bradley on Wednesday to finally end this damn road trip. After the Bradley game, we would have been on the road for 11 of our first 16 games. Closing out the three game road stretch with a win over Bradley and going 4-1 in conference play would be a big boost heading into a big game against Missouri State next weekend.

Awful, awful, AWFUL! Blowing an 18-0 lead is ridiculous, especially the manner at how fast they blew it. Shades of last year's team. Get out to a double digit lead, and then proceed to blow it just like that. Pathetic loss today. Even with the blown lead, we still were up late in the game. If there's any talk of us becoming an elite team, we HAVE to hold on to late leads. We haven't done that the last two games. Bottom line is that tomorrow's game is a must-win. I don't want to start this month out with a record of 0-3.

According to the RPI sites, the MVC has moved up to the #2 conference in the nation :shock: :D

SIU beat Drake 59-54. Jamaal Tatum had a 4 point play with a couple of minutes left and Matt Shaw had a three point play with 20 seconds left to put us up in front for good. Randal Falker added a dunk to end the game with a 5 point win. And now a BIG thumbs down to ESPN for saying that we LOST 59-54 online and on the bottom line. Very embarassing.

I'm sorry, but you're an NFL QB. Don't blame New Year's Eve for a reason why you sucked. Some of these excuses are pretty funny. He should've just said he sucked and moved on. Now everyone is going to say how he shouldn't start because, mentally, he might not be "prepared" for the playoff game.

I suggest you take Jeff Weaver in the first round. I don't know. Suppan might be a better first pick. Mark Prior would be a great first round pick too.
